This is an incredible rendering of WATERWAY! Thank you Bro. Don & Choir. I grew up in the Pentecostal faith but received formal training in church music & now direct music in a mainstream church. Given all that I love & embrace, this music tuggs at my heart, & I cannot thank you enough for this rendering of WATERWAY. My parents sang this in church (duet) many times, & I actually had the good fortune to accompany them on piano!
The song was copyrighted in 1919 by Bishop Haywood by it was written by Hattie Edwards Pryor just a reminder the songs in the Bridegroom songbook were written by different saints.
Love this great song. We sang it in my home church, Christian Tabernacle in Dallas ,Tx, pastored by Warren L. Green. I lead it still in the church that I pastor in Weatherford, tx. Seems like less less people remember it.
The song was written by Bishop SC Johnson, who was one of the greatest Apostolic preachers to ever walk this earth. He preached the Whole Truth of God about how you should not partake in any pride or lust of the eye, and he not only preached the 1 God Acts 2:38 message, but also that Christians should not participate in any false Pagan holidays such as Christmas and Easter. He preached a gospel that left NO room for compromise and I thank God my church holds onto the Whole Truth!
@misterkgb1@itsgoodtoseeme91 This song was written by Bishop Garfield Thomas (GT) Haywood, 1st Presiding Bishop of the PAW (Pentecostal Assemblies of the World Inc).
@apostolic660 I'm positive this song was written by Sister Hattie Edwards Pryor just check the Bridegroom songbook published by Christ Temple and Sing Unto The Lord hymnal published by the UPCI. May the memory of Bishop G.T. Haywood live on he was such a great man of God.
@itsgoodtoseeme91 I attend the church which Bishop s.c. Johnson preached at. I don't know who made this song but I can assure you that he didn't make this song up. But God bless you and the memory of Bishop S. C. Johnson.d

"The Water Way"
CHORUS:
It shall be light in the evening time,
The path to glory you will surely find
Thru the water way, It is the light today,
Baptized in Jesus name
Young and old repent of all your sin,
Then the Holy Ghost will enter in,
The evening time has come,
Tis' a fact that God and Christ are ONE.

Vs 4 (Final verse)
Have you looked and often wondered
Why the power is slack today?
Will you stay in that back number
And go on in the man-made way?
O saints who never have been buried
In the blessed name of God
Let the truth now sanctify you
Tis the way apostles trod.
The1Church 3 years ago
Vs 3
Are you on your way to ruin
Cumbered with a load of care?
See the quick work God is doing
That so His glory you may share
At last the faith He once delievered
To the saints is ours today
To get in the church triumphant,
You must go the water way.
The1Church 3 years ago
Vs 2
So God's servants come to tell you
Of a Bridegroom in the sky
Looking for a holy people
To be His bride soon by and by
He sends to us refreshing water
In this wondrous latter day
They who really will be raptured
Must go through the water way.

Here you go... Pg 202 in the UPC Word Aflame, Hymnal "Sing Unto The Lord"
V1
Long ago the maids drew water In the evening time, they say;
One day Isaac sent his servant To stop Rebecca on her way.
"My master sent me here to tell thee -
See these jewels rich and rare;
Wouldst thou not his lovely bride be
In that country over there?
(CHORUS)
