Obraztsova is perfect as Aurora - petite and pretty with a fabulous technique. Through her graceful dancing and in that lovely tutu she is utterly charming as a 16-year-old princess enjoying her birthday party. Thank you for posting it.
i love how she skips the last penche with the row of violin boys and gently stroke the last one, as if she is a loving princess who adores all the palace people!!! shame on the balances, but i am sure its just a blip
@saritachan Actually, unlike the royal ballet and many other ballet troupes, Russian troupes have not taken up the tradition of holding their balance. I'm sure these top class ballerinas would be able if demanded to do so.
Leonnidik, I'm even more impressed and I didn't think it's possible ;-). It's amazing that she is so girlish, shy but elegant and regal in the same time. Her lines are beautiful. And when I have that all I don't care if she can stay in balance one or ten seconds. I think that's my favourite Rose adagio so far.
@natura1971 I love this artist´s interpretation. What a lovely and refresing Aurora! Yes, girlish excitement, shyness but with a budding elegance at the same time.
The production is stunning. We saw it with Zakahrova opening night at the MET yrs. ago.Z- was not Aurora, neither is this lovely gifted girl. Where is the excitement? Youthful exuberance? Meeting suitors from foreign lands? Does she listen to the music? where are the accents? Margot had all that in her 40's. with Rudy at the MET. Margot's upper body was sculpted, perfect, epaulement textbook,ROCK SOLID balances, and of course the Magic. You can't teach that.
Obraztsova is a lovely dancer, but here she needs a little more strenght to nail better those balances . For a perfect RA look at either Viviana durante-(RB), Alla Sizova-(KB) or Sadaise arencibia-(CNB)
I love the costumes!!! For me, Sleeping Beauty is a fairy tale and Aurora a princess, so I love it when companies have elaborate, fancy costumes. I actually like Obraztsova in this choreography alot better than the Sergeyev. This is truly Petipa at his finest.
Thank you for this! This production is beautiful and I really missed it. Many people dislike costumes here but I love them, especially Aurora's and I like them more than pale tutus from the other Mariinsky's SB.
Obraztsova is perfect as Aurora and I love in her that she has taste in using her extensions.
she is the perfect aurora!

When I was a child and I saw the ballet the first time I feel in love with this piece. The The Mariinsky Ballet is simply superb!

I watch her Rose adagio again and, unlike
