  • Anyone remember Nelson as "Freddy Fillmore" on "I Love Lucy" (the radio game show host?)

  • Simpson did NOT bring me here. Sanford and Son brought me here.

  • I always answer the phone with the way he used to say yesssssss.

  • Will always be a million times funnier then Seth McFarlane.

  • Simpsons brought me here!

  • @NarudakiMadsenKoh Exactly. The original troll.

  • Thanks for this classic moment. Yeeeesssssssssssss!!!!!!!!

  • So that's the guy they based the character off the simpsons

  • Nelson's "YEEEEESSSSS?" was his trademark, one he used frequently on CBS shows in the 50's, including several appearances on shows starring Benny and various shows produced by Desilu and/or Danny Thomas. He was also used frequently as a voice on the Flintstones and other cartoons, and later in life, on Sanford and Son.

  • a Simpsons man sounds kinda like that

  • I like the part where he says "yes"

  • Is this Frank Nelson the same one from Sanford and Son? The actor in Sanford and Son looks different from this guy.

  • @spinemelter2000 It is. He's much older in Sanford and Son.

  • Reminds me of the scenes with Grover and the blue guy in Sesame Street!

  • Man, I wish I could talk to customers like that. lol

  • @Fozzy4175 I did once, just for the laughs...

    ...they didn't get the joke.

  • @Fozzy4175 I have. It is fun, but you don't stay employed for very long after. Lucky I have property making me money.

  • He (Frank Nelson) appears in alot of "I Love Lucy" episodes - just fyi. :)

  • always loved this guy. He was a great foil for Red Foxx in Sanford and Son, along with all the other shows he did. There are many attempts to copy him these, but I've never seen one that did it very well.

  • I love how his expression totally changed from when he was walking to the "YEEEEEES"

  • haha like the Simpsons guy

  • @KlayyJayy you got it backwards the simpsons guy is like frank* lol

  • Love how Dan Castellaneta still slips in his vocal tribute!!

  • Better than most comedians today.

  • A thousand thanks for rectifying the situation!

  • My other favorite line of his is "Ooooooooooh, gooody!"

  • I HAD A STRROOOOOKE

  • love his sarcasm!!

  • I think he was parodied on a Bugs Bunny cartoon, but I can't remember the title.

  • Frank Nelson also did some classic bits with another classic TV comedian - Lucille Ball, on "I Love Lucy."

  • YES?...

  • 0:14 for yes

  • " I Always Run Into Him " LOL !! ( 0:56 )

  • Frank Nelson scored a win for all salespeople. I used to work at a store, which made me realize the importance of doing well in college. You can tell by the way Frank Nelson walked by so quickly that he was on his way to do a different task when a customer bothered him. I don't blame him for being rude to customers. He handled the idiotic "Do you work here?" question with humor and sarcasm. He's a much more polite salesperson than I was.

  • I had a STROOOOKE.

  • you can hardly hear say "yeeess" because of those bastards laughing

  • The great thing about this character was that it fit in anywhere. During the 60s 70s and 80s, whatever show you'd be watching, if it was a comedy, you'd never know when the clerk at the department store, or the record store, or the ice cream shoppe would turn around and say "Yeeeeesss?" According to wikipedia, he may have done 9000 guest appearances. He was one of the most recognizable faces on TV, though I never knew his name before today.

  • Picture a shotgun being pumped at 0:12. 0:15 - KABLAM!!! Death by comedy.

  • Frank Nelson was the perfect foil for Jack Benny. His sarcasm is classic.

  • Frank Nelson was a treasure. I love the character of his voice. It is hilarious.

  • 3 ppl do not know what true comedy is

  • Benny was the greatest comic in the history of television or radio. No contest

  • @WillhoiteMichael - . . .and such was his genius that today, almost thirty years after his death, he introduced routines and concepts and characters (such as Frank "Yessss?" Nelson) that still make people laugh - and laugh hard!

  • I love this guy,he is so annoying and funny.

  • Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees?!?

  • He also said Wellllllll!!!!!

  • @moorhead1962 - . . .and also, when someone asked him if they had something in stock, he would answer, "OOOOOOOOh, DO Weee!" As someone else said on this sight. Frank Nelson was a treasure - just like Jack Benny himself.

  • FRANK NELSON ......

  • lmao Yes Guy from Simpsons!

  • @RaZorFakkzor ,now you know where they got that character on Simpsons from. .. they based it off Frank Nelson. one of the best Character Actors in the bussiness. and paired up with Jack Benny one of the greatest comedian's in the bussiness. they were a great team.

  • Had trouble remembering this guy's name. Googled Yeeesss! and came up with a bunch of Mel Blanc related links--but I knew it wasn't him. Oops, I'm rambling, when all I wanted to do was say 'THANKS'

  • Two comic geniuses at work. Frank Nelson's characters were the perfect foil for Benny's perplexed view of the world around him. Shame no one remembers him, but then again, YouTube isn't exactly populated with brilliant minds.

  • It's the Yes Guy from the simpsons!

  • I mention Benny in The Celebrity Song.

  • No one says "Yes" like Frank Nelson.

  • Forgot to mention, one of my favorite exchanges. (at airport) BENNY:; Look Mister, I've just gotta get a plane out of here NELSON: WELL, if I don't have one I'll build one!

  • Thank you for uploading this. Recently I heard a Jack Benny radio program in which Jack had a cold and had to see Dr Nelson LOL

  • to iampietro: i apologize; i stand corrected! they just sound so much alike...

  • to devobob6: Frank Nelson did the little green cartoon martian on the cartoon "The Flintstones"

  • Nein! Harvey Korman was Gazoo.

  • Frank Nelson also appeared on episodes of Sanford and Son-=and a few movies.

    : "YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS?"

I THINK IT'S GREAT THE SIMPSONS MOVIE PAID HOMAGE TO THIS ACTOR

  • what an interesting character

  • I met Frank Nelson in person at an "Old

Time Radio" convention in New Jersey in

1986. A nice man, and I was able to tell

him how much I enjoyed his work. Very

    friendly and approachable. Very much

    missed !!

  • You are blessed to have met Mr. Nelson.

  • @Juliaflo thanks for comment, where are you from?

  • @dancebandleader New York City.

  • @dancebandleader , you are blessed to have met him.

  • @Astraldragon1 Hi. Thanks for comment. While there, I also met

Arthur Tracy "the Street Singer", a regular on old time radio in 30's.

    ---where are you from?

  • Thanks for posting this!!! He was a very funny man! I remember hearing his voice in cartoons as well!

  • ..frank nelson also did cameos on the lucy show, dick van dyke as well as jack benny...doing the same running gag..the yyeeessssssss man!...always funny!

  • Everytime I watch this, all I wanna say is:

"Do you have a table for the mayor?"

  • Thanks for posting this clip with Frank Nelson always loved it when he appeared.

There is a funny one with Frank Nelson as a lawyer.

When Jack asks him, "You always have different jobs."

Nelson: "I'm trying to improve myself, whats your excuse."

  • I LOVE Frank Nelson! Dang, he's so irritating and insulting, and so FUNNY!

  • Yeeeees?!:D

  • Frank Nelson popping up unexpectedly was just one of many "running gags" on the show. My favourite was the L.A. Union Station announcement of the train "...now departing for Altoona, Anaheim, and Cu......................camonga." Before I die, I'm going to go to Cucamonga one time.

  • mmmmmmmmm Yeeeeeeeeeessssssssssssssss

  • no i started as president!

  • you should hear frank nelson as mr. cow in the oringinal tootsie pop commercial.

  • i just love the way his says "yes"

  • @thomaschavers Simply priceless.

  • @thomaschavers - Agreed. Nobody says "Yes?" like Frank Nelson did. When I'm annoyed with somebody, I'll answer him/her with "yes?" imitating FN. Somehow I feel better that way!

  • If you listen to the old Lux Radio Theater shows, Frank Nelson and Arthur Q. Bryan (Elmer Fudd) were on many episodes playing serious dramatic (!) parts. My favortite is the Lux Theater version of "Angels With Dirty Faces", where Frank Nelson actually plays the Humphrey Bogart part!!!

  • Jack Benny had impecable timing. And as someone said, he was a kind and gentle man and was loved by his fellow comedians.

  • Couldn't agree more. People my age (63) particularly loved him. We grew up with him on the radio AND tv. Simply a wonderful human being.

  • @didymus46 I'm almost 30 and I find this kind of humor hilarious. I watch Jack Benny's show every Sunday night on Retro TV Network. In fact I'm watching it now.

  • Benny: Oh Mister?

    Nelson: YEEESSSSS

Benny: Why do you talk that way?

Nelson: I just had a strooooooooooke!

  • Benny: Oh Mister?

    Nelson: YEEESSSSS

Benny: Pardon me are you the floor walker here?

Nelson: Well what do you think I am with this Carnation A Float in the Rose Parade?

LOL..Frank Nelson is the best he is funny.

  • Fans of Frank Nelson should check out Mark Evanier's "Point of View" blog entry about him (povonline·com, click on "Cartoon Voices" and scroll down the resulting page).

  • Hahahahaha.

  • Thank you so much, love this guy yeeessss

  • I remember Frank Nelson making a gag appearance on "Saturday Night Live"--doing his brilliant shtick...I miss guys like this.

  • Brilliant timeless comedy

  • So great. Thanks for putting this up.

  • I love the great comedic interaction Jack Benny had with Frank Nelson. A comedy team made in heaven! YYYYYEEEEESSSS!!!! Hilarious stuff! Thanks for sharing this priceless clip with us.

  • Frank: the ultimate in passive-aggressive response. Very, very funny!

  • Nelson has SUCH an attitude, esp. around Jack!! I love it!! Makes be laugh.

  • always wonder'd where simpsons got that guy from. it wouldnt make sense if he was just some guy they made up

  • Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeees?!?

  • That dude with a hat in the beginning's voice makes me...idk...mad? No... something else... >_>

  • Thanks for the upload. Just heard Frank Nelson on an old Lucy Ball radio show and had to see if there was anything on him here. He NEVER fails to get a laugh outta me when he does that "yeesss" and his wisecracks.

  • Classic

  • simpsons rips off

  • > simpsons rips off

No, it's an homage, a tribute. That's what satirical shows do

  • @dabble778 yeah, the character in the simpsns is drawn exactly like frank nelson

  • @dabble778 I love how in one of the simpsons commentaries one of the writers/producers for simpsons was teasing another by saying "Homage, french for ripoff :P "

  • Yeah, the character is actually referred to by the writers as "Frank Nelson Type"

  • This coming December will mark one of the darkest milestones in the entertainment industry--the 35th anniversary of the passing of the immortal Benjamin Kubelsky (sp), known as Jack Benny. His life was taken away by pancreatic cancer.

  • Gotta love the Jack Benny show -- especially the radio ones *I'm very glad there are so many*, the cast is brilliant :D

Frank Nelsons "YEEES"-es and "Who do you think I am...?-routines" always make me laugh!

  • Hilarious!

  • Thanks for this upload.I've always wanted to know who the character who pops up every now and again on the Simpson was based upon, now I know.

  • Jack and Frank, a great combination!

  • We need more of these clips of Frank Nelson on Youtube!

  • you are sooooooooooooo right!!

  • Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees ?!?

  • The Simpsons uses this character in few episode.

  • wow Frank nelson is sooo funny lol i loved him on "I Love Lucy" guest appearances lol who does the yes man voice on the simpsons props to anyone who can imitate him

  • Same guy that does home. Dan Castallaneta.

  • fuck i love that guy

  • I'm pretty sure the character on The Simpsons is voiced by Dan Castellaneta but in tribute to Frank Nelson.

  • a-no. a-no. a-no. a yesssssssss!

  • Frank Nelson was on a McDonald's comercial in the 80's.

  • IT'S YES GUY! honestly. he is my favorite character in the entire simpsons show. "Siiiiiiiir! Other customers need to use their dressing room!"

"Oh no! Oh no! Oh no!!"*Homer flashes out a wad of cash*"Oh yeeeeeeeees!"

  • It's the yes-guy! :D

  • Fantastic.

  • I've met Mr.Nelson and he was nothing like

the pompus, wise cracking jerk that he plays here. In Fact?

He told me that he loved Mr.Benny very much and

    he really missed him.

  • I'm happy The Simpsons has a character of him on the Simpsons.

  • "He told me that he loved Mr.Benny very much and he really missed him."

That seems to be the universal consensus about Benny, who despite his character's image as a tightwad, was actually generous, kind, and warm-hearted.

  • awesome! finally....noone seems to know who that guy is. Ever try googling "famous guy yeeessss?"? doesnt really work.

  • AHYYEEEEEEESSSSS!

    LOFL

  • AUHHHYEEEEESSSSSS

  • Maan I LOOVE this character in The Simpsons!! YEEEEEESSS????

  • O.o oooo there he is

  • Let's not forget: Frank Nelson also portrayed Freddie Filmore and Betty Ramsey's husband during the "I Love Lucy" days.

  • lol yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees!

  • Frank Nelson is great and Dan Castelenetta's Yes Guy on The Simpsons is almost as funny:

    Homer: "Excuse me."

    Yes Guy: "YEEEEEEEEESSSSS?!"

Homer: "Why do you talk like that?"

Yes Guy: "I HAD A STROKE!"

  • It was likely a direct impersonation of Frank Nelson. In the 11th season of The Simpson's, in the episode "Little Big Mom" you can hear Lucy give her trademark cry, after which you then hear an impersonation of Fred Mertz saying, "I think you hit her pretty hard there, Rick".

  • Yesssssssssssssssssssss?

  • BTW - he did some "Flintstones" episodes, too.

  • Ah, Frank Nelson. One of the most memorable comedians that nobody remembers. Thanks for the clip!

  • @ladycrim , I remember Frank Nelson. I've allways enjoyed his comedy. he is great.

  • Thanks for remembering Frank Nelson, one of the unsung heroes of the entertainment business. The man was an original and played beautifully off of Jack Benny.

  • Classic actor...and one of the most recognizable routines in show biz.

  • Frank Nelson, I never knew his name. How can you resist laughing at his "YESSSSSSSSS?!?!" CLassic stuff right there.

  • Thanks VERY much for posting this, & please post more Frank Nelson clips if you've got 'em.

  • I want more of Frank! Even the 'It's That Man!' character on Ren & Stimpy occassionally sounded like him! Don't recall anything done in The Simpsons though.

  • It's That Man! was Tommy Handley I think

  • That's right - but I'm refering to the loudmouthed announcer/salesman-type from Ren & Stimpy. The character had no name, so was simply refered to as 'oh it's that guy again!' and his theme tune was indeed the Tommy Handley one. He was voiced by Billy West who occassionally made him Frank-ish.

  • after being drawn in from the Simpsons' "yes Guy" i've just been reading up on frank nelson and i'm amazed at how it really holds up.

  • Frank Nelson has terrific trademark does he. YYYEEESSS! HHHEEE! DOOOEEESSS!

  • At the antique store the employee asked if he could help me. I said i was "just looking" he turned away and said "that's what museums are for" I immediately thought of Frank Nelson.

  • Wow, that's awesome--it sounds exactly like something they'd do on the radio show.

  • frank nelson was great!!!!

  • Eddie "Rochester" Anderson, very fine entertainer in his own right. I don't find it very racist at all. I mean, Rochester seems very savvy and intelligent, and he gets plenty of fun in cutting down his stingy boss. Benny was very respectful of Rochester, and was one of the more open-minded entertainers in his day.

  • what show is this from?

  • the Jack Benny program.

  • It was also pretty racist....notice the black man referring the other fellow as 'boss'

  • He called him boss because the other fellow is actually his boss--Rochester and Jack's relationship is one of the least racist in all of radio/early TV.

  • ah fair enough. But there was a great deal of racism back then though.

  • He calls him boss because Benny is playing his employer. Rochester is his valet, and pretty savvy and intelligent in the way he handles Benny's character. He and Benny had quite a good chemistry. Their relationship seems to be a parody of the Scrooge and Crachit relationship, with Benny's Scrooge being his own foil, and Rochester's Crachit being more cynical and wily and level-headed than his ridiculously vain-glorious employer.

  • I read somewhere (on wikipedia) that they deliberately tried to avoid race jokes finding out about the holocaust. He and his staff just no longer found them funny.

  • Heh. This was when TV was classical and funny. Not like today's smutty rubbish.

  • Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees?

  • what show is this a clip from

  • The Jack Benny Program.

  • ok thanks

  • MORE FRANK NELSON!!!!!!!! :D

  • THANK YOU for putting this up!! I have always loved the "yes guy". :-)

  • frank nelson appeared on 'sanford and son'

theres a great scene with frank and redd foxx, ill try to post it soon

  • Hey folks, this video does not play!!! WTF????...

  • Frank Nelson worked with Jack on radio and TV for over 30 years, usually appearing as "the floorwalker" [as in this 1960 "Christmas Shopping" episode, an annual tradition on radio]. Jack could NEVER figure out why "Nelson" was so disrespectful to him, or why he kept seeing him in so many different places....but WE knew!
