So far most of Gabriel's stuff is proving un(re)coverable for other artists. Just like it was for Peter on Scratch My Back, LOL! Gabriel seems to have caught on to this and started doing orchestrated versions of his own work instead. Not exactly the high point of Gabriel's career so far or Lou Reed's for that matter too.

it's like he took the essence of a really great song and removed that essence all together. if you think this version has merit and worth your ears are painted on. his singing pitch sucks and the guitar sound is so base and dumb. jimi hendrix once said he liked lou reed's guitar playing. he must have got a bad batch of drugs that week. i don't want a note for note replica but i wouldn't mind just a tiny amount of invention. why are the advocates of the banal so defensive? this is just crap.

I love it! Lou's still producing his wonderful brand of emotionally intense art almost five decades since his first recording and people are still getting their knickers in a twist about it!
