So good to see y'all playing out at Tilden, your (and once my) hometown semi-wild place. Gotta say I miss your fiddle on this. Your music is something I've brought with me from California, back to where I ran away from, in Virginia. Your songs accompanied my pedaling legs down many California highways. Now Sweet Haven of Mercy has a different meaning when I sing it to my grand-daughter at bedtime. I had to take custody for a couple years, and she would ask for it as a comfort to her.
@neccowaif9 I think it gave her a space to miss her Mama, and be comforted at the same time. Blade of Grass is her favorite though. When she was 4, we would have long talks about what it meant at bedtime. I'm a lousy consumer. I've bought a few of your albums, and I think I only came to see you 3 times all those years in Oakland... But your music has touched my life. Oh, and I think you've become MORE beautiful over time. Love & Gratitude
Thanks so much for that, Laurie!!! I am uploading my cd I have of Grant Street String Band & just thought I'd check to see what you were doing on YouTube these days. I'm so happy you have Beth using her cords again too - it's given her a new lease on life - thanks! You're a classy lady. =)
That is so beautiful! I was checking out Laurie because I saw footage of Sam and Peter and Tish Hinojosa performing (Merlefest) and there's a cute lady with a big sun hat in the background. Think it's Laurie. Thanks for this!
My favorite song that U guys do. You sang it for me at the Acoustic Brew..We all have a Val's cabin in our memories, THAT is what makes this song so wonderful...Dyslexic's are teople poo. smiles, Randy
One of our favorites songs! We see them as often as we can when they play in Berkeley at Freight and Salvage. We have been their fans for oh so many years. Thank you for sharing.
Wonderful! I love the setting and the low tech feel is refreshing. All in all, reminiscent of Sweetsmill Camp and definitely a treat to hear y'all! Thanks for the great music. Could you do a video of "When the Nightbird Sings" or "Bowling Green?"
Thanks for posting this! There's a Sierra cabin we head up to with the family every summer; every time I hear this song it reminds me of my summer Sierra memories. We're heading up there next week! :-)

I'll add my thanks for this song. I think many of us had a Val's Cabin in our youth. I know that I did, and like Val's it is in the SIerra's.
