This song is one of the ones i listened to late at night when I couldn't sleep I was crying so hard. Here's to my best friend who was murdered six years ago and a fan of the Oakes!! RIP Bobby!
I was born in 81... my moms sister was murdered in 83. she was 7 months pregnant with her 2nd child. She was 27... I remember growing up watching my mom cry to this song. i always knew why she was crying but didnt know HER meaning of the song until a few years back listening to it. RIP aunt TINA
This is one of my most favorite songs, I recored it for my mother back in the 80's...Now she has past its been 10yrs...Still brings tears...Thanks for postin it!
I was a young girl & never seen my Dad cry until the night came that we got called to say goodbye to my Grandma. We were there saying our goodbyes when she passed away. On our way home that night this song came on the radio & I seen my Dad weep like a baby driving home. Now I have been battling Gastric Cancer which is now in Stage 4 and I see the true meaning of this song. God Bless. And Dad, it never hurts to hurt sometimes, even strong Daddys.
This song speaks to so many things inside of me: dead loved ones, lost loves, childhood friends not seen in years. "For every step you take, you lose something on the way" True words make true music.
i seen the oak ridge boys once .. on the way to the concert they had someone to break into their bus and stold some of their clothes and equipment and they still had on their traveling clothes it was a fantastic concert.....:)
@iamVirtualgirl sorry to hear about your son. Its amazing that it seems that when times are troubled, and we are bearing hardships that music really speaks to us. Tis songs takes me back to a first cousin that past away in a car accident. My aunt his mother had this song played at the funeral home before we went to the graveside.
The lyrics to this song are just so powerful. Somebody must have been on a serious heartbreak to write it. As always, the boys are just awesome.
