  • Glen I wanna ask you a question. Your thumbpicking is really inspirational. I'm gonna throw down my pick and start thumbpicking. It would make 8 finger tapping so much easier. Now, back to my question... I love that Prs and that Mockingbird you got. How safe is your home?

  • @zbarneyz I have two highly trained security guards. They are named Smith & Wesson!!

  • all I can say is WOW........not that was worth the favorite botton......

  • all I can say is WOW........

  • Can I request a review for Digitech RP1000? thanks~

  • @setapartkid you should be able to find one here on youtube. in fact there are several

  • hat's off . excellent . i'm saving money for GT-10 hehehe.

  • one thing more i wanted to ask, I asked you about getting the pod hd400 or 500 and you said hd500. what about the boss gt 10, cuz i'm kinda liking the sound of this as well now. help please.

    thanks

  • @stinkynsexy666 IMHO, the new HD500 is better

  • hi glenn. im just curious.. have u ever tried connecting the gt10 or any guitar processor to a tube power amp? coz im just about to buy a marshall el34 monobloc...cheers

  • @pretoriaxe Yes I am currently using my GT-10 with a Marshall JCM2000 DSL100 with fantastic results. Not using any of the amp models in the GT-10 of course. Only stomps & effects.

  • man you are totally awesome. that's the simplest way to put it.

  • thanks man thats what i was thinkin ,just the line phones thing thru me off ,,thanks again ,,,you da man lol

  • glen i have a question (really a few lol)but for now i was wanting to know ,,i got a gt10 whats the best way to run this thing live in stereo ?im thinkin left right out to mixer , i seen where you suggested line /phones out to snake?im not much of a tech guy and ya lost me on that lol any and all advice would be deeply appreciated thanks

  • @proxcemo Yes it's very easy, just use a cable from the right & left outputs of the GT-10 right into a mixer or recorder. Then you will be in stereo. make sure the output mode of the GT-10 is set to "Line/Phones"

  • 3:00- ending. is so awesome. love it!

  • They way you play with your right hand is so Epic :D cool video.

  • Hey Glenn, i really enjoy your vids and guitar playing. it's refreshing to watch something on youtube without all the attitude. You make sense when you talk and your playing is inspiring!

  • @trisblissed Thank you Tris

  • I really enjoy your vids. your a great player and you make sense when you talk. its refreshing to see something enjoyable and entertaining and inspiring. great playing. thanks for uploading your vids.

  • that is pretty tight man.

  • Do you think the tones in the multi effects pedal are full? And should I wait for the GT 12 if it's coming, or just go ahead and get this? I hear their upgrading the sound interface in the GT 12 with the same kind of thing the Pod HD has. Instead of COSM it's whatever the pod has.

  • @DeadEyeSprout Hmm really?? I'd like to see that

  • @extremevideopro So do the tones sound thick on the GT 10?

  • @DeadEyeSprout Yes they do

  • @DeadEyeSprout I found it to be highly surprising if BOSS would abandon COSM.

  • @theclockster Yeah I agree. COSM is there thing. They'll probably call it COSM HD :-0

  • i'm torn between boss gt 10 and line 6 pod hd500 what should i get?

  • @ybother44 You should try them both if you can then make your decision.

  • i LIKE ALL YOUR VIDEOS!!!! i just bot mineexactly 24 hrs ago and learned a lot already!! by alot I MEAN @LOT!!!

  • Glenn, once again excellent !

    Joe

  • PRS is just awesome.

this guy should play with a pick.

  • @FCValle I am using a thumb pick.

  • GREAT in every way ... sound, playing, guitar! I love and use GT-10 too ... Well done! Cheers from Austria!

  • @notpopebuthope Dankeschön

  • ive many quetchen......? fragen in germany ist es so..forget it............no chance

  • Very good, as usual, you are teaching me how to use the GT-10.

  • @Aristowi Thank you. I'm glad you find my videos useful.

  • what prs is that

  • @Fear3001 That's a Limited Edition Experience model.

  • Very nice "original kinda blues thing"! Loved it!

Oh and also a nice demo of what is achievable with the Boss GT-10.

  • @doradoe091 Thank you very much

  • hi glenn, does the boss gt 10 have a dynamic mode just like in boss gt 8? thanks

  • @cocomartinievera Yes it sure does. I never use it much but it's a cool feature.

  • Hey Glenn, Is this one of your patches that you have for down load?If so I already have it but which one is it?I really need those other 3 & 4 foot controllers. I gotta get em soon.

  • @ampitup64 Yes I believe that is SRV Lead. U10-4

  • @extremevideopro Thought so.and Most likely from the amp settings. When do ya expect to have that CD out? Sounds pretty tasty man. By the way this is Doug , I had the GT-10 questions on your blog. Get used to me.As you can see I try and bleed every thing I can from your you tube videos. There is only a handful of people out there who just plain give out help out here. You are definitely going to reap what you so bro. The AC/DC patch sounds outstanding and thats with my Highway one Stratocaster.

  • @ampitup64 Cool Doug, the CD should be out by October. Thank you for your support.

  • "i put together this little blues thing"

    you freaking sick LOL

  • @cajun5150 LOL, Hey Frank, this will be on the album BTW.

  • Ok no worries. Would you mind if I used the riff and beat for a video on youtube? I just got a new camera and currently working on my studio, I've been wanting to get something out on youtube for a while now and this sounds...well.. there's no other way to put it, its freakin' bad ass haha. I'd be giving full credit of the song to you of course, just with an improvised solo. Let me know, no offence will be taken if I don't get your permission.

  • @LightningFrets It's OK go ahead.

  • also I was wondering, do you have this as a backing track without the solo? If so, where would I be able to find it? I've searched your site but I can't find either this original version or a backing track version. I've searched the albums section too. Hope to hear back from you soon mate, take care.

  • @LightningFrets I'm sorry but I can't give you the backing track to this song. It will be on my soon to be released blues album. Fall release. Thank you for your support.

  • Hey Glenn hows it going man? That riff & solo were AMAZING, I saved it and play it all the time now haha. I'm going to try it out tomorrow with my Ibanez Jem 7VW, using a JVM 100w 2chan Marshall stack and the boss gt-10 pedal. I was wondering if it would be possible for you to upload a George Lynch, Gary Moore and a Jeff Healey sound to your patches on your downloads site? I would highly appreciate it. P.S. - if you ever take a trip down to Melbourne Australia, let me know, I'd LOVE to jam!

  • can you please put this track on your new blues rock album

  • @biohazardUFC Yes it will be on the new album. Thanks

  • i agree with ya about the dynamics man! shits fuckin important! i remember before joining the band im in i was tryin to come up with a solo for one of their songs and i was like, ill just clean it up and move to my neck pickup cuz its waay warmer and it will sound cool! cool vid man

  • Hey Glenn, just wanted to say Thanks!!! Im getting my GT 10 in a week and your vids are a godsend. I subscribed and love your playing, Thanks again for sharing.

  • Cool, good luck.

  • !!!Blues!!! b(^.^)d THUMBS UP!

    Beautiful Dynamics, Blissful tone!

    5*s!!!

I've seen you previously using POD X3 Live, but now as of late only been seeing the GT-10. Do you Prefer the GT-10 over the POD X3 Live? Which would you recommend?

  • Yeah, the GT-10 gives me more flexibility in the routing of my effects. I am currently using the GT-10 for effects only so for that it is better than the X3 (IMHO)!

  • You are such a great player Glenn! I greatly appreciate you taking the time with these helpful vids...I've owned the GT10 for almost a year now, and was most of the time frustrated trying to get good sounds without feedback, but you have great tips!

I'm still blown away at how you can alternate pick so well with just your thumb! LOL...I would have cramps for days!!!

Thanks again and keep up the great work!

  • hey man im kinda new to the whole multi effects pedal deal and i really like the gt 10 but i dont want to have to gave all this extra stuff, is there a way i can just plug in and play? wenever you get the chance, point me in the rigt direction, thanx

  • by the way i have a marshall valvestate head with a peavey cab...

  • Just plug your guitar into the GT-10 and the output of the GT019 into your amp. Then turn on the OD stomp button and go. It; It can be as simple or as complicated as you want to make it.

  • awesome vid dude!

i've been researching the gt-10 and im actually selling my podx3 for the gt-10 now..i think you're right that the podx3 is more for metal and harder rock. i love the tones that the gt-10 is puttin out. Question: how would u recommend connecting the gt-10 to a voxac30 to keep the tone of the amp. i love the tone of the amp but i want the effects of the gt-10 to come through well. Effects loop? front? Let me know what you think if you get a chance...

  • I would connect it like i am connecting it to my current tube amp. I go guitar into the GT-10 and GT-10 out into the amp front input. I am only using the GT-10 for the stomp effects and chorus, delay, etc. No GT-10 amp models or cab simms. This way you can have your amps tube sound and use the GT-10 like a traditional effects pedal board.

  • do you send it out through the output mono or phones?

  • yes, GT-10 left mono out to amp input.

  • hey glenn, i aint quite happy with the gt-10 i have because of my set up i am sure, currently i am amp-less, running directly into an audio interface then to 2 syudio monitors! any advices, shall i get a tube amp with fx loop? i don't know i would appreciate your advice

  • Tube amp would be great but not if you are just recording. How does it sound recorded?? Did you try my patches I have for download?? Give them a try.

  • hey glenn have u tried the gt 10 live? it works great for me.

  • Yes I have been using it live for about a year now. about 70 dates so far.

  • Hey. im actually not happy with the dynamics when i roll off the volume on my guitar for the pod x3. it gets really single coil sounding. Does this have to do with the way i programmed the patch?

  • Well it could be lots of things. the guitar, the pick-ups, the patch itself, the amp models used. IDK.

  • So when you tried doing that with your Pod you never felt that your tone just thinned out?

  • On some patches yes I did notice that.

  • wow, sweet.

  • I saw this video a couple months ago and have been watching other multi effects processor's videos since then, but coming back to it now it still blows me away.

  • VERY cool. Sounds great. Is this also in your patch library?

  • Yes it is, this is my "Satriani Rhythm" patch from my bundle.

  • could you please tell me the tab for what he plays from 5.09 till 5.21?

    thank you so much!

  • I wish I could help you out man but I don't know how to read tabs.

  • What prs is that it sounds good

  • That is a limited edition Experience model.

  • basically a custom 22/24

  • Yes it would be like a Custom 24

  • hey man.. i got your gt10 bundle on my gt10 :D can you make a megadeth patch? the symphony of destruction. i really really want to that patch on my gt10 but, im having a hard time tweaking it. can you do it for me? :D thanks in advance

  • theres one called Megadreads, thats obviously for megadeth songs, youre welcome

  • When you play metal, do you have your volume knob up all the way constantly? If not, what do you have it on when you play rhythm metal, and lead metal? Do you get a lot of ringing/feedback from lifting your fretting hand off the strings if you have your volume up all the way if you're playing some fast rhythm stuff?

  • Oh yes for Metal I usually run the volume knob all the way up.. if you are getting ringing/feedback you are probably too close to your amp speakers or your settings need to be adjusted, You can kill that by using Noise reduction.

  • between the GT-10 and the POD X3 live which would your more recommend?

  • i want to know too !! for sure. i know more about the pod x3. im not sold on the gt 10 yet. i just started the video. this might help me decide =].

  • GT-10 because better effects, tone wise brillant, the x3 may sound just a tad better tonal but I have taken my gt-10 to music practise at church turned volume right up and it sounded amazing!! I think it would take a musical ear to say the x3 live sounds slightly better tonally, but really either way both are great units, if you do want a good wah in either unit dont get x3 live it sounds like absolute garbage! Gt-10 is easier to tweak more effects aswell and a built in looper, & many more!

  • your guitar rocks dude very nice

  • An alternate way to play with dynamics without touching your guitar's volume knob:

Set your amp (or amp model) for the maximum distortion level and tone that sounds good to you. This is your "balls out" Lead or Metal tone. Now, clean it up as little or as much (in a consistent, preset way) with one (or several) Home Brew Electronics "Detox EQ" pedals. This way, you have several different "shades" of tone right at your feet.

Programming the GT-10 this way should be do-able. :)

  • On the othe hand, with good pickups, maybe its just easier to use the volume knob! :P

  • Great sound. I have a GT-10 and I use Ibanez J custom RG7485. But I couldn't get such a good dynamic on my tone. Are there any secret that I missed out?

  • Less compression, means more dynamics. The MS models in the GT-10 have good dynamics.

  • I saw that you mentioned using the HC. Would you recommend it with the gt-10? I know some of the advertising tends to exaggerate a little and it does cost half of what the gt-10 does

  • Yes I would recommend the HC stereo. That's what I use.

  • if i didnt no better i would swear it was a amp..........great job

  • Hi there, amazing sound. What patch is this exactly? I already have the complete "Glenn de Laune" patch pack, is this one part of that pack or is it another one?? I'm eager to try this one on my GT-10

  • it should be up on GT-Central patch exchange soon.

  • Very nice. What did you film that on, HD camcorder? Is the audio recorded separately to the video? How about a vid on how you produce your vids! :)

  • yes HD cam and the audio is recorded to computer while filming.

You think people would be interested in seeing the?? IDK

  • Hi Glen. Yes I think people would be very interested in seeing how you get such great recordings onto the screen. The whole audio/video thing is very interesting. People are understandably very interested in your whole recording set-up, this is another aspect to it.

  • same here!!!!!!

  • does the gt-10 have a drum machine or a defretter setting?

  • no it does not.

  • would you recomend boss over line 6.

  • I have been asked this question at last a thousand times in the last 4 months. It depends on what type of music you are going to be playing. If it's metal, thrash, death, etc... then Line6. Anything else then I'd say Boss.

  • ya i know i read your blog. i know its anoying to be asked. thank you though.

  • It's not that it's annoying it's just that I think every person is different and if they are considering 1 of the two units either Line6 or Boss then they should try them both out. That way they can get what sounds best to their ears not someone elses.

  • i totally agree. before you buy a product you need to go to the store and test it out thats what i did with my new line 6 floor pod plus. p.s nice cover video on creed.

  • I love the PRS models. Want to eventually buy a Tremonti signature model if I can ever afford it lol. What do you prefer the POD X3 Live or the GT 10? I was just curious.

  • They are both very good and have there good & bad points. Using mostly the GT-10 right now.

  • Man with all your demos you dont give any of us other GT-10 owners to make any demos of our own. :(

    not that i care though

  • great tone dude You never cease to amaze me... i think im gonna sell my pod and get a gt it sounds so much better

  • :-0

  • Can't believe it huh, Glen? :-D

  • hey Glenn Very good video just have one question when you say no external pedals it means not even the HC?

  • Oh yes I always run through the HC.

  • What's the HC?

  • It's a device called a Harmonic Converger and it reduces the fizzy sound usually accompanied with most digital modelers. Google it if you want to find out more.

  • Thanks fo the quick response.

Where do you pu it in your Chain?

  • I tried to do that with my thumb and got a cramp...need more water

  • Which pickup are you initially playing thru? Is it your brige pickup?

  • I start out on the neck then switch to the bridge then finish back at the neck pickup.

  • Still mesmerized by that thumb. PRS sounding sweet through the GT-10.

    5*

  • Thanks guys, yeah gotta love that PRS. It's really a joy to play!!

  • nice playing and showing dynamnics! Been teaching myself how to do this properly for a while now and I find it really does pay off indeed!

    Oh, and nice vibrato!

  • Glen, I'd love to see you do some videos using the POD XT Live...

  • Awesome riffs!

I'll be happy to download that patch!

By the way; what kind of guitar is that? It looks a bit like French LAG guitars.

I have an LAG myself, pretty good :) but no whammy :(

    Great vid!

  • That's a Paul Reed Smith

  • Very nice Glen great stuff! Just a quick question: Are you going straight into your PC via USB or are you going through a seperate audio interface first? Also, do you know if there is a change in quality between the two methods?

  • I recorded this using the L&R analog outs of the GT-10 into my recording interface. I don't find there is any difference in the sound using this method or going direct.

  • Very nice info about dynamics and what GT-10 is capable! BTW nice beautiful PRS guitar :)

  • Hey man This sounds so good. any chance on Pming the patch preset sound for the second demo you did with the backing track? or is it already on your website? Thanks. Awesome Work

  • I'll put the patch up tonight hopefully.

  • that was sick
