a dyno graph of torque and hp at 3-3.5k would tell whats up :) theres no doubt that thing will pull like a beast on the top end though, i just got bored with larger single turbo setups around town in the past
Twin turbo's are better then single for getting rid of the annoying LAG, and makes it easier for manual shifting, especially in my S4. This S4 is pobably a little faster then my 2000 S4, but i have my'n set up jus for the strip with drag radials and it runs High 9's @ around 145mph, i wonder what this would run as is?
for the 8000 redline did you have to rebuild heads or does the tune just really adjust the timing?? you said stock block but i didnt see anything about the heads.. what is top redline you wanna go on this engine stock?? im getting ready to change over to gt2860 and just wondering some specifics that i need to know..
And I guarantee you that even with your quick spooling K04's, you won't be one inch ahead of this car at any moment during a race. 24 psi on K04's ≠ 24 psi on GT28's.
These GT's are making more power at 18 psi than k04's on 24 psi.
Awesome car; if you started 2nd gear roll from 2000rpm, the K04 car pull a car length or two on a GT28 car before it then comes screaming past; so yes the car will be in front at the start of the race but that's it.
Seems risky without doing the rods, but otherwise the car is sweet as!
am planing on doing gt28 turbo kit by 2010(save money for a year s4s are not cheap cars lol) and the only option i see is asp's kit. would love to do vast gt600 kit but dnt knw much info. any advise?
that crazy!!!! i cant believe you havent had any problems. I'm just going on past experience when I blew a rod thru the block in my B6 1.8T, it was a completly stock motor with a GT3071R turbo kit. That was not fun. Needless to say I now have a Eurospec small block with forged rods and pistons/crank. It only took me 10 grand to solve that problem. It still hurts..haha
For what it's worth, this isn't my car -- however, it isn't daily driven so I think that may play a role in the stock rods not punching a hole through the block. I'm in the middle of a 2.7T GT built and went straight with forged rods because to me it's not worth the risk since it's going to be a daily driver.
I dont understand how a stock motor can take that kind of abuse with twin GT28s without upgrading to forged pistons and rods, unless you're running low boost set at like 18psi or somethin.
The 2.7T has a forged crank and forged Mahle pistons from the factory. The connecting rods, however, are cast and are a known weak point. This GT S4 is a rarity in that it's running stock rods -- though the majority that do this sort of setup upgrade to forged rods for safety.
have you got rid of the closed loop system? can hear compressor surge/blow off valve.

Sounds like there's some turbo surge in there, not a dump or bov.

I absolutely love the noise your engine is emitting... from the note to the turbo spool, is just awesome!
Is your engine built? Cos it looks like you're revving to over 7500rpm.

The car had ALL stock internals which made it so impressive. This was pushing the limits.. It ran mid 11's at 132+ in the quarter on the same setup!

From 4k till redline it looks like its pulling like a train, you don't even have that rpm band in a GT30R tuned STi...I think :)
