The idea behind the band Esperanto is that the musicians were from a variety of different countries and backgrounds and they came together to speak (play) the one language which united them: music.
Ultimo Tango is the title of the Argentinian release of the Esperanto's LP.
All track's titles are also translated in spanish: Still Life > Aun Vida, Painted Lady > Dama Pintarrajeada, Obsession > Obsesion, The Rape > La Violacion, Last Tango > Ultimo Tango
This was one my favorites and I had it also in tape... One friend of mine had it in vinyl, and that was all. Thanks to internet too, I found the two records of Esperanto. Sad that no one hear of them till then..
@xazokoytavo Nice video to it - pity there is little live coverage.I bought all their albums when they came out - it was interesting and unusual at tghe time - I was also buying PFM as another example of experimental semi classical prog rock from mainland europe (and faust)
Hello there, first time i ever heard of Esperanto was in 1976 when a cousin showed me the Eleanor Rigby version. Since I am a Beatles lover it blew my mind and he gave me a copy in cassete of the whole album with very poor quality, then in 1980 I met a friend who actually had the LP album and i got a cassette copy with much better quality and finally thanks to the Internet and all the worldwide information available and -Ebay- i got to know about their whole Discography.
This magnificent song from 1975 really is a forgotten pearl of symphonic rock. Even after 34 years I still remembered the melody and parts of the text. Hard to find indeed, so many thanks for posting this. They should come together again for a reunion!
The singer? Roger Meakin, I believe. There's an earlier, blander version of this song by the first line-up of Esperanto which included Glen Shorrock, later of Little River Band.

That's how I found "Danse Macabre" 74 and "Last tango" 75 Cds In Japan through Ebay. They are my little babies now and i listen to them very often.
Danse Macabre is not as good as Last tango since it didn't have Roger meaking yet.
Now, of course i never met Roger Meakin and sadly i can't find anymore information about him cause he really has an outsanding voice.
There is one song by Mythos in where you can almost swear is him singing.

Hey man, I have both Speranto Original Cds. I got them in japan. Danse macabre and Last Tango.
They were as great as Emerson lake and Palmer or Yes in Progressive Rock. I wish they had some live videos or more information available.
They were true geniuoses!

hi camariva, where did you get Danse Macabre i've been looking for, can you tell me please. Thanks
huharoto 2 years ago
Well Huharoto I got it in your country 4 years ago, I got it in Japan through Ebay of course.
But it is not as good as The Last tango Cd, i guess Roger Meakin made the difference with the sound and vocals.
camariva61 2 years ago
Yes, the voice of Roger is the best and tks i'll try with ebay to get the cd's
