I think in legatto and expressiveness Kurt Mol's interpretation is better, better technique, although Talvela has better voice, at least for this role.

Wow, what a voice! Bass-baritone here: it's tough to reach some of those lower ones and still have good resonance.

This recording of this aria made me fall in love with the bass voice when I was fairly young. Talvela was magnificent.
