@JohnnyVichi- there is no such thing as a free lunch my friend. Any type of forced induction stresses the engine. It depends in large part on the type of supercharger, and how many pounds of boost you're getting out of it. To offset this added stress, you want to install an intercooler system and some other mechanical upgrades to the engine, and transmission.
I am sure it is not "good" for the engine, but a lot of it depends on the tune. It needs to be a good tune from a reputable shop with a good Air/Fuel ratio and timing. The light that burns twice as bright burns half as long. But, the car has over 40,000 miles on it now, and still going strong and running like the day I put it on 5 years ago.
I did not replace any of the internals. I am only running 8 psi, so it is only about 446 rhwp, but it is enough power for me, compared to the 265 rwhp I was putting down stock. Make sure to get a good tune, and the kit should come with everything you need.
hay man very nice car. as you can tell by my name i have a 06 gt lol. i want to get a kenne bell s/c for my car and was wondering if you had to replace any of the internals? i want my car to be faster but dont want to blow the motor lol
I don't like that kenne bell engineered the compressor whine out of their units. I think I am going to have to go for a magnacharger just because of that.
I know you commented on this a year ago, but doesn't the magnacharger produce more heat than the Kenne Bell?
The guy above you said he was going to get a magnacharger over the K.B because of the noise... I'd rather have the K.B or Whipple over the Magnacharger.
440rwhp SAE, with a pretty conservative fuel and timing curve. Could have gotten more out of it with a more aggressive tune, but it was a cold and very dry night and uncorrect was 472rwhp, so I didn't want to push it past that. It's pleny, not even thinking of going to a 10psi pulley.
8psi, 440rwhp SAE. Mods are the KB kit, 90mm MAF, 39#injectors, KB BAP, HTO sparkplugs (one range colder), and that's pretty much it for performance mods besides a Spec Stage 3+ clutch and AL flywheel, bigger brakes and tires now and some suspension mods.

True, the twin screws don't wine as much as the roots. But my KB has gotten much louder, and you can hear it over the exhaust.
Hatchbm 3 years ago
So as it wears in it gets louder? If that's the case then I could deal with a kb.

Just my opinion.

I agree, the whine is part of the thrill of driving a blown car!!
Cheers!
ahahaha, I remember when I was in high school and had no coin, I put a pete jackson gear drive in my camaro because I wanted the whine!

ive noticed something. ppl with euro cars always use kits, but ppl with american cars mostly buy the stuff seperate

'06 GT here, with a KB 8# intercooled kit. Have YET to get it on the dyno (not b/c of lack of trying!) What did you make?

Yes

I'm putting the new KB 2.6L on my 03 Lightning and I want to know the psi you are running, and the hp you are putting out.... Any other mods?
