Too bad Peter didn't have much luck in his life, he would have become one of the greats in Blues. Good thing that he is actually playing again... So much soul in his singing and playing, it's a shame...
This is incredible, especially bearing in mind he did this before Clapton, and alot of licks are similar in Clapton's version to this. His tone is spectacular
William Myles Nobles, known as Billy Myles, was an American R&B songwriter active in the 1950s and 1960s. He is best known for "(You Were Made for) All My Love" recorded by Jackie Wilson (1960), and "Have You Ever Loved A Woman" recorded by Freddie King (1960), then Eric Clapton (1970). (wikipedia)
Thank you for posting this. It's absolutely breathtaking! For those that don't know Freddie King did a small either English or European tour around this time. Fleetwood Mac was the opening band and then I believe they backed him up. I would have loved to have witnessed some of that tour.
Peter had only been playing lead blues for a few years at this point. This is 1968 and is a very telling number of how he developed as a player from the bluesbreakers earlier before and then again changed and improved from the 1968 to 1970 period.
Would love to hear the mac doing this number early 1970......he probably would have ripped it!!!
Wow!!! I have been collecting Peter Green-era Mac since I was 15, and I am finding lots more cool tracks like this on YouTube!!! Peter Green is better than Clapton I think. He just had more of a natural feel, and incredible attack!!!! And his singing alone had so much power!! But I'm sure glad he started playing again in the 90's!!! And now he is even playing Oh Well again!!!! Peter Green still rules!!! He's earned it!!!!!
@benguich you should listen him and duster bennett, a) trying so hard to forget and b) thinking about a woman... this is mastership, very puristic... blues, if one do not know them one would image black blues men singing
I think that Peter Green is just naturally a blues artist (guitarist and singer), whereas Eric Clapton is more of a rock guitarist who is a HUGE fan of the blues. This doesn't necessarily make Clapton less of a guitarist, i think Green just captures the feeling a bit better. Nevertheless both were were absolute gods of their craft.
@Phocus3 there the best britain has too offer in my opinion , but i always will rate peter green higher and in my opinion he is the worlds best white bluesman it is incredible how underrated he is.
Clapton is a tremendous guitar player. You won't hear me criticise. Nonetheless he's nowhere near to Peter Green in his '67-'70 period. That goes for guitar playing as well as vocals.
@Bluesblaster not tremendous. SRV was tremendous, as was Jimi, Danny Gatton, Peter, Danny Kirwan, even Elmore James for that matter. Clapton had a few great years with pentatonic blues and the Marshall crunch. And then, 30 years of noodles. He never evolved, and for this, he is not tremendous.
Yeah, yeah. I caught my mistake the moment right after I posted that remark but ya know, it wasn`t my first one and I have a feeling it won`t be my last!
I can't believe i over looked this song so many times!

One of the best versions of this song I have ever heard. Thanks a lot of this.Never knew that Green played this with Fleetwood Mac.

Forget race, Peter Green IS the master of the slow blues. He was the master before Eric Clapton left Cream for Blind Faith. Deal with it.

What a tone and touch and feel for the blues. Greeny was the best. Too bad we all missed out on more music years from him due his illness.

compared to derek and the dominos - Greeny put it back to a more puristic blues. Just great -superb!

@Bluesblaster
That maybe right. Yet, it's whatever your heart tunes in more with - Clapton or Green ...
But, at the end of all comparison, there's a powerful and great love-song that both of them played with wholehearted and personal dedication !

@Bluesblaster yeah but 67-69 neither clapton nor green could touch a man they call Michael Bloomfield

When i found this on stream a couple years back i was so pleased, as this has always been a favorite number of mine from F King and Clapton alike.
PG kicks ass here. To my recall this is 1968?
