I really debate if the Muay Thai guy was really trained that well, I've done both martial arts though I prefer Tae Kwon Do, its what I started on, the muay thai didnt throw any counters though this is just highlights, But I'm sorry but if some one is trying to hit me in the head i'll leg sweep or low kick them every time its why you're supposed to do, and this guy doesnt even throw a counter? The TKD guy didnt even looked challenged thats not a martial art difference thats a skill difference

The problem with this match up, is that most professional martial arts forbid knee and elbow strikes in competition. However, those types of strikes are very throughly used in Muay Thai.
@Areskitana Even in muay thai competitions, elbows are rarely used. Only knees to the stomach are generally allowed. Same with Karate in japan. They allow knees there.
some of you guys...i can imagine you watching fight tkd vs. tkd, and saying that tkd is useless and weak, but tkd is really effective. When will you get that it's down to fighters? @bizoneee As much as we all would like to live in a fairy tale world, it just ain't happening. The whole "it's the fighter not the style" crap is overused and cliche. While obviously a talented person in any style is going to be effective regardless what style he/she trains, there are always going to be certain styles that are more effective then others.
While TKD is neither useless nor weak, it does leave the user extremely vulnerable to takedowns and TKD fighters are clueless on the ground.

One is not nessesarily more effective than the other, one just works standing up and the other works laying down. Its situational. throw a knife in the mix, or a sniper. I'm well aware of the ancient roots of where muay thai comes from...but all martial arts come from an "ancient" source one way or another that is "deadly" and "brutal". Seeing as people fought for their lives and not for points or belts.
@Faithlessvirtue yes when the thai fought the burmese they used muay chaiya to break their bones and limbs. Muay chaiya is what created the sport called muay thai today but muay thai abandoned most of the moves of muay chaiya.

@mallcorekidsdie Some TKD is taught for fitness and excercise. But most of it is either traditional or sport. Which was used in wars at one point. Muay thai is also a sport. Muay boron was the traditional version.

well its two fighters some 1 ones said that no fighting style is superior but its the skill of the fighter that uses it in my pref i would choose to do muay thai cause it focuses on the elbows and knees since the can offer the most deadliest hit though saying that iam also not that very knowledge of TKD and i would also in opinion base the best fighters are shoiln monk i mean if you ever get to seem them live they are amazing and spend most their lives training

if taekwondo guys learn to take a beating as well as muay thai fighters and learn to not be a bitch and get back up after they're knocked down the 1st time they would probably destroy lol. but the dudes that do muay thai work on their body conditioning so much they can just take anything.
plus taekwondo has NO DEFENSE, its destructive if the opponent doesnt close u down, but in close i reckon almost any martial art beats it. And its been said, its the fighter not the art/style

@djdan151 lol not all teakwondo teach the same,some teach both hands,elbows,knees,etc.get the point and second its all skill.seen people fighting for 10 years lose to some fighting 3 years.you can be a awsome fighter but doesnt mean you can use any style..people know how to work with a certain style better than a more experienced fighter can..what do you say about ufc fighters that took muay thai,tkd,boxing.oviously other styles had more advantages.

interesting point; fighting is all about adapting and if you look the TKD fighter took advantage of the massive "leg span distance" gap between him and his opponent. Reminds me that it's always about the fighters as individuals not the martial art itself.

this is true. no matter what anyone says, TKD focuses on kicking. watch TKD tournaments on youtube, you will never see a punch thrown and they let their guard down alot. TKD is more focused on pretty kicks as far as sparring and fighting goes. sure they have some cool self defense techniques as every style does. i've trained TKD for almost three years so i think i'd know
