  • 1:26 woodcutting fail!

  • This kid sucks lol. His voice is shit and he's really really annoying. Other than that, great childhood movie.

  • MOM LOOK. Im not a Furry Anymore!!!

    LMFAO!!!

  • i almost burst into tears when the mother tells him it's just a story.

  • I was in love with edmond when I was a child and now still love him he was such a cutie

  • My congrats to the kid, he's not a furry anymore.

  • 2:05 The Beatles FTW

  • For those who dislike this movie are fucking retarded kids who watch shitty nickalodean movie and disney movie.

  • @094Anthony they are nothing but high school musical fans.

  • @BrianLG100 Your damn right they just don't know the good old movies.

  • @094Anthony I had this and a lot of movies like this on tape, probaly still do, some I forgot the names of, but they are indeed excellent!

  • "I wanna tell them I'm okay!"

    "I'm sure they know"

    lol what a good mom

  • This is just awesome !

  • I cried like a bitch at this part when I was a kid.......

    ....and now. XD

  • @ooamaimomooo ROFL

  • ZOMG EDMOND'S GLOWING! Oh wait he's turning back.

Do you guys think that was all a dream, or was it real?

  • 2:06 narrator was listening to the beatles

  • I liked Edmund better as a kitten

  • I liked Edmunded better as a cat

  • "Get back into bed" is not "Go to sleep"

  • Wake up...get back to bed!

Geez lady, one or the other :P

  • @Feuerartillerie rofl exactly

  • Why does everyone pschyoanylyze movies?? Its a cartoon people, kids like chaos and mindlessness!

  • @charlevoix01 Agreed

  • Nostalgia Critic: I'd say this ending is just ripping off the Wizard of Oz, but it isn't. It's directly STEALING from it, right down to everything being brown and white! Does this movie have any shame!

(Quote from his review on this movie)

  • He's a REAL boy!!!

  • I didn't watch this movie when i was younger, so maybe I don't understand--

But I'm 13 now and I must say that this was the weirdest, most creative and bizarre movie I have ever seen. EVER. Thanks Bluth.

  • He was asleep long enough for the flood waters to recede? That takes a couple of days doesn't it?

  • the is such a dumbass!! i mean its sunny out, should he be waking up not going back to bed?! lmao

  • why would you wake someone up and tell them to get back in bed??

  • @xpalosiv lol this made my day. Well, not really. But I laughed pretty hard.

  • Another good movie to take you back is "We're Back: A Dinosaur Story" also, "Rover Dangerfield"

  • That is some magic!

  • great movie.

    haven't seen it in years.

    O.o

    ....

went a little odd with puttin goldie in the farm outfit.... look like briana banks as a cartoon bird XD

  • whoa... this movie goes by quick... looking back i thought this movie was alot longer.... and incited way more feelings in me. I HATE NOSTALGIA.

  • I know right?? I could barely understand it when I watched it and it felt like it went by foreeeeever, but now its so fast.. o.o boy what age does to a person..

  • man i have not seen this movie or the page master or any of the other movies in the 90's since i was a little girl thanks for the memories

  • Don't you just love those movies when a kid hangs with animated characters and when the kid tried to tell his or her parents about it the the parents say it isn't real? If that was me I'd say "That's what you think!"

  • Reality comes to Cartoon land? That's like mixing Reality shows and Disney xD Omg I wanna see that now

  • I haven't seen the Pagemaster or this in years! I LOVE EM! And All Dogs Go To Heaven 2 where Charlie blows the horn, and here, Chanti crows to bring up the sun.

  • I think perhaps Don Bluth may've had some inspiration from "the Wizard of Oz."

  • ahhhh... Aren't speech impediments cute?

  • I've always liked Edmund better as a cat... c:

  • Does anyone else feel like watching Pinocchio after seeing Edmund turning back into a real boy?

  • ROFL

The faces that the dad and brothers pull when Edmund says "but where's Chanti and the gang?"

    They just say it all!

  • Anybody feel like this movie, and the Pagemaster are sorta similar to each other?

  • @tooner14 Actually, no ... Edmond did not have the girl lips of Macaulay Culkin.

  • @tooner14 this does remind me of pagemaster a little

  • @tooner14 OMGOOOOOSH, and I thought no one will remember that wonderfully inspiring movie...it was a real fun ride, like this one. ^^ Children's imagination are wild, ain't they?

  • @tooner14 Oh my word dude I was just thinking about that. I just watched Nostalgia Critic bash Pagemaster which I loved as a kid. I came here to think about my childhood again. I think his review of both this and Pagemaster were unfair.

  • @Retrofanatic10 Some of his other reviews are bit unfair too. -_-

  • @tooner14 OH FUCK. Pagemaster. I need to watch that one again too.

  • @tooner14 And, sorta like, Alice in Wonderland

  • @tooner14 I see that that the plot of this movie and Legend are the same.

  • lets her it :D

  • my sweeney

  • dude when the mouse almost cried im like wut r u in luv with a cat/boy? XD

  • I agree about the kid who did Edmond's voice. The speech impediment is TERRIBLE.

  • As the Nostalgia Critic pointed out lol ;)

  • Who Framed Roger Rabbit was also a good live action/animation film! this one must be a predecessor

  • I think Roger Rabbit was actually the predecessor -- but probably had a bigger budget.

  • The owls should have just moved to Alaska >_>

  • I'm sure this movie was a revelutionary breakthrough as far as live action and animation goes for its time. It's an old movie guys, don't expect it to be like The Day After Tomorrow. And I thought Edmund's voice was cute. He's a little kid, don't expect him to be ttlyawsumz.

  • Please tell me that I'm not the only one here who believes that the kid who played Edmund has a horrible speaking voice.

  • Animation does not mix well with live action, sorry to say.

  • not with the technology they had at the time anyway. Mary poppins turned out fantastically, remember?

  • But isn't Mary Poppins much older than this? They would have had even fewer redeeming techniques to make it look good.

  • This ending reminds me of the Wizard of Oz, when Dorothy is repeating ' there's no place like home,' it fades out and she wakes up in her room like she'd been hit when the window burst. That's also where Edmund's journey in the fantasy world began: with the window bursting open !

  • Yeah, I totally remember that part!

  • I don't understand why Edmund's mother wakes him up and then tells him to go to asleep again XD

  • told him to get back into bed. He probably had a concusion or something from the twister and storm that happened. She wants him to rest but be awake, i guess

  • @MistressMelon I think its cause he's supposed to be sick.

  • @MistressMelon Wants him a sleep in a little more.

  • @MistressMelon she's concerned about his possible concussion perhaps?

  • @MistressMelon Because he has a fever or some shit. I think she just told him to get back into bed, not like... Go back to sleep.

  • what does being a real boy have to do with this whole plot?

  • 'I'm a real boy!!'

  • doesn't edmund look and sounds like that little blonde boy with the glasses that plays on stuart little?

  • YES

OMG, ithought i was alone. XD

  • The connection between the two is undeniable but that would have to mean one of two things..that that boy doesn't age or grow as far as looks & voice goes or that they are two different boys that coincidentally looks undeniably similar because if you look at it from a timeline & logical standpoint..there seems to be no way the two are one in the same. this film was released in 1991 & that boy there has to be at least 5 or 6, where as stuart little was released in 1999 and that boy was only 9.

  • it's very true.

maybe it's his brother or his cousin maybe?

  • Toby Scott Granger plays Edmond and Jonathan Lipnicki plays as George on Stuart Little but despite Jonathan's jewish polish ancestory and a canadian father, there could be some connection. They don't offer too much info on Toby Scott Granger for me to make a more accurate deduction based on information. But good theory. I like it. =^.^=

  • Edmund looks better as a cat.

  • "hey, edmund! how you doing, son?"

"fine! what happened to chanty and the gang??"

*cue wtf expressions between dad and older brothers* XD

  • 2:26 the start of the most ridicilous ending yet good childhood memory

    i love contradictions =]

  • 0:05: I TOTALLY SHIP SNIPESxPEEPERS AS A COUPLE :DDDD

    They are omg cute.

  • I think Edmond is too young to have an interest in girls though....he's like...five or six! XD lol I always got a big sister and little brother vibe with him and Peepers.

  • I don't know, I've seen pairings using young characters before and those are pretty popular. I've already got a lot of fanart ideas for them. :) But you're free to support any pairing you want.

  • Edmund's transformation kinda reminds me of the Beauty and the Beast transformation.

  • its a little less epic

  • The moment with Peepers consoling Edmond is so sweet. I think they make a great pairing. (Both love and friends)

  • Father: Edmund! Do you anything about this huge pink helicopter in our backyard?

  • 1:10 - He's not a furry anymore... :O

    Nice movie

  • Comment removed

  • Now you're working together.

Didn't Tenacious D kill the animals in Rock-A-Doodle?

  • Snipes and Peepers should end up together.

LOL. I don't know. I never saw this movie as a kid but always wanted to, so thanks for the upload.

  • is that the same mom from the beginning of the movie? it doesn't look like it.

  • The Grand Duke, Hunch, and the villainous Owls are Gone for good.

  • NUTS! I didn't mean to rate this as a two star! DAMMIT!!!

  • Am I the only one that feels like Peepers has a thing for Edmund after 0:25

  • Well, she has grown a friendship with him in the city and she was saddened by his injuries.

  • ah okay. my mistake. ^_^ '

  • I actually what you mean. She seems like she has since early on in the movie.

  • Finally! Someone agrees with me on this subject matter! XD

  • It's weird, everything LOOKS fine. I mean, it doesn't look good, but it doesn't look like there's been a flood.

It really DOES seem like just a dream, but that moment at the end, now that I look at it, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I mean, it's nice to be ambiguous and make it seems that it might have been real, even though it quite clearly wasn't, but this is just confusing. Plus, Chanticleer called Edmond by his name, and he never learned his name!

  • Please people stop complaing

    Let others enjoy this film

Snipers: He was little boy after all

Pipers: He was a handsome little boy

    :,)

  • Snipes: He WAS a little boy...

Nostalgia Critic: He was such a bad actor, I couldn't tell.

  • The kid actor's name is Toby Scott Ganger. By what the Wikipedia tells us he indeed was such a bad actor.

  • Why's the kid wearing PJs again? Oh, yeah, cuz he'll wake up in bed making us think it was all a dream.

  • hey some one tell the nostalgia critic that when the boy touch the book all the charecters came out

  • 1:27 - 1:35 Jesus... the NC was right... this movie didn't copy the Wizard the Oz... it down right STOLE from them, right up to the sepia colored background XP

  • I swear I've heard Edmond's mother's voice somewhere else! Her name is Kathryn Holcombe and her imdb page only shows a few entries, but I KNOW I've heard her somewhere before!

  • You know, I don't get what people have against the whole "it was just a dream" thing. I mean, it all adds up IMHO.

  • Great movie I used to watch this movie all the time when I was 6!! God I miss this movie =))

  • what a bizarre movie, but not bad at all i liked it alot! reminds me alot of an american tale and brave little toaster

i swear i thought they were gonna break out singing city of light XD !

  • Yeah you're absolutely right. Edmund would remind you as Fievel while the music of this movie would remind you of the music from The Brave Little Toaster.

  • He was like "Wook! I'm not Fuwey anymore!" So cute! :D

  • why split up the movie in little videos? you could fit 3 of these parts into 1 video ya know xD

  • "WHAT HAPPENED TO CHANTI AND THE GANG?" At 1:35 it looks like Edmunds Brother was saying Cuckoo Cuckoo, in sign language.

  • I wanna be furry......

  • somebody's been smoking CRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAK!!!

  • Nostalgia Critic will be reviewing this eventually =P

  • That little boy sounds like Cory from "Flowers in the Attic," except that child would have been too old to play this part. Younger brother perhaps?

  • why did she wake him up only to tell him to stay in bed!!!!

    EVIL

  • I'M NOT FUWWEEY! lol

  • the magic of the 90'

  • movies like this would be considered "against god" now a days by parents due to the "magic" in the movie lol! 90s rule

  • To AsG1989: Don Bluth is a Christian himself, so this is ironic but very true. Not to mock the religion or anything, but yes, some parents are so extreme with their values it's getting to the point of ridiculousness. This is FICTION, people!

  • "I'M NOT A FURRY ANYMORE!!!!" XD

  • Had to fit in a last-second Friendship Speech, eh?

  • omggg!@!!!!!! I JUST REALIZED WHO GOLDIE SOUNDS EXACTLY LIKE!!!!! that audrey chick from lil shop of horrors!

  • Lmao the mouse had the hots for the kid

  • I love how when Edmond asks were Chanti and the gang is, the father and brothers are all like "WTF?" especially the brother chopping wood XD

  • I like Goldie's farm outfit

  • I think Edmond was supposed to be sick or something, she called his name when it looked like he was coming out of his fever, and then told him to go back to bed to rest- she didn't say "Go back to sleep".

Another thing-hmm, apparently the mouse fell in love with him. Well, she was a good character, better than the magpie, and Patou was simply the best of that little trio.

  • The dog's my favorite

  • That always perplexed/pissed me off when I was little when the sun was up and the mom asked Edmund to go back to bed.

    I mean.. O_o

  • She also TOLD him to wake up!

  • continuity awesomeness, of course. -_-

  • Haha, me too, that pissed me off so much, I always forwarded that part on the video machine. LOL

  • Hey uh, you probably don't know anything about this but, wasn't there like a Don Bluth movie with an animated version of an extremely Hot-looking woman that looked like Marilyn Monroe? Just asking.

  • I dont know if Don Bluth did this, but I think your talking about Cool World! I LOVE that MOVIE!!

  • Thank You!

  • LOL. Your Welcome!

  • Dude, imagine if Ralph Bakshi, the guy who made 'Cool World', had made this movie.

0_o That would be fucked up.

  • ...0_o!! Ahh! The thought of him doing this movie...I cant stop twitching from the thought!!

Sooo would be fucked up! Oh! Just imagine what he'd do to Goldie...!!

  • Look mom I'm not a furry anymore!

Heh, he says not furry anymore, but that still would have been funny.

  • I never stopped being furry :(

  • 0:11- 0:18:!!!!

  • I'm a real boy!

  • I used to make my parents read me this story when I was a kid, but honestly I never even knew what it was about... lol, still don't! All I remember is looking at the pictures. That's fine - I hate Elvis with a passion.

  • this movie gives me nightmares!

  • i love chanticlair!

  • dude! they're 17 parts!! couldn't u've put some 2gether?

  • Yea About half were only 3:00 long could of been like 9 parts

  • Just look at the kid's 1990s hairstyle that looks like yellow cotton candy, LOL!

  • This is pretty much the ONLY part of the movie I remember from when I was little. Hell, I didn't even remember the title until recently! Too bad he turns back, though; his speech impediment, while cute as a kitten (SQUEE!) just looks wrong on a kid.

  • Dude im the same. I rembered some movie ABout a Rooster and a Cat but I couldnt recall the Title So I googled Everyhting that came to mind and Here I am Remembering History of childhood

  • omg!! same here

i rememebered something about a singing rooster, found out the name of the movie..and here i am

  • The dog's my favorite

  • Is it just me, or was Chanti the rooster sexy? Lol maybe its me

  • it's just you.

  • Edmonds my favorite in this movie. hes so cute as a cat! I don't like the Duke or the owls. No offense to those of you that like them.

  • Oh my gosh, I loved this movie so much when I was little. And I loved watching it over and over.
