Nostalgia Critic: I'd say this ending is just ripping off the Wizard of Oz, but it isn't. It's directly STEALING from it, right down to everything being brown and white! Does this movie have any shame!
I know right?? I could barely understand it when I watched it and it felt like it went by foreeeeever, but now its so fast.. o.o boy what age does to a person..
Don't you just love those movies when a kid hangs with animated characters and when the kid tried to tell his or her parents about it the the parents say it isn't real? If that was me I'd say "That's what you think!"
I haven't seen the Pagemaster or this in years! I LOVE EM! And All Dogs Go To Heaven 2 where Charlie blows the horn, and here, Chanti crows to bring up the sun.
@tooner14 OMGOOOOOSH, and I thought no one will remember that wonderfully inspiring movie...it was a real fun ride, like this one. ^^ Children's imagination are wild, ain't they?
@tooner14 Oh my word dude I was just thinking about that. I just watched Nostalgia Critic bash Pagemaster which I loved as a kid. I came here to think about my childhood again. I think his review of both this and Pagemaster were unfair.
I'm sure this movie was a revelutionary breakthrough as far as live action and animation goes for its time. It's an old movie guys, don't expect it to be like The Day After Tomorrow. And I thought Edmund's voice was cute. He's a little kid, don't expect him to be ttlyawsumz.
This ending reminds me of the Wizard of Oz, when Dorothy is repeating ' there's no place like home,' it fades out and she wakes up in her room like she'd been hit when the window burst. That's also where Edmund's journey in the fantasy world began: with the window bursting open !
told him to get back into bed. He probably had a concusion or something from the twister and storm that happened. She wants him to rest but be awake, i guess
The connection between the two is undeniable but that would have to mean one of two things..that that boy doesn't age or grow as far as looks & voice goes or that they are two different boys that coincidentally looks undeniably similar because if you look at it from a timeline & logical standpoint..there seems to be no way the two are one in the same. this film was released in 1991 & that boy there has to be at least 5 or 6, where as stuart little was released in 1999 and that boy was only 9.
Toby Scott Granger plays Edmond and Jonathan Lipnicki plays as George on Stuart Little but despite Jonathan's jewish polish ancestory and a canadian father, there could be some connection. They don't offer too much info on Toby Scott Granger for me to make a more accurate deduction based on information. But good theory. I like it. =^.^=
I think Edmond is too young to have an interest in girls though....he's like...five or six! XD lol I always got a big sister and little brother vibe with him and Peepers.
I don't know, I've seen pairings using young characters before and those are pretty popular. I've already got a lot of fanart ideas for them. :) But you're free to support any pairing you want.
It's weird, everything LOOKS fine. I mean, it doesn't look good, but it doesn't look like there's been a flood.
It really DOES seem like just a dream, but that moment at the end, now that I look at it, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I mean, it's nice to be ambiguous and make it seems that it might have been real, even though it quite clearly wasn't, but this is just confusing. Plus, Chanticleer called Edmond by his name, and he never learned his name!
