This guy played Omar's muscle when he got arrested. He, along with another inmate, was contacted BY Butchie to keep Omar safe in jail from all the drug dealers Omar stole from. Remember when those two guys approached Omar in jail, and Omar put his hands up to defend himself? Then he found out the shank they were carrying was actually FOR Omar to protect himself.

@Deprofundis142 its kinda crazy you asked because HBO recently re-aired the "making of the wire" the other day... but to answer your question. during the time of the real avon barksdale AKA "Bodie" it was reported by local police that there was 3 different gun boys separately running around robbing Avon's dealers. all three of their styles made up omar in the series, the gay part was just added to make it more interesting. this is Off topic but in real life Avon and Stringer Bell were enemies

@K3rosky Its not from anyone, Simon added it in because he believed that because he belongs to no institution, he is one of the few characters who could get away with being openly gay, as opposed to if we was a gay drug dealer or cop, in which case he'd either be killed or ridiculed. So he made Omar gay.
