Johnny Depp as the Riddler would be da bomb, I can picture him a Heath Ledger edge to this character the way Ledger did with the Joker, it is one twisted yet ecclectic villain that would fit Johnny Depp like a glove, can't loose there. Look forward to it once Dark Knight Returns finishes it's run with Tom Hardy as Bane which sparks my curiosity as well.

Ledger had some great quotes that could make you consider he was quite more sane than you believed, and think of his philosophy, whereas Nicholson was just the generic bad (insane) guy, you know, rule everything, kill everything that moves (in a funny way though, I'll give him that), and all just for the hell of it. Also Ledger could make you feel the desperation of the people for what he does.

BATMAN is my favrite dc superhero. I really only liked the first batman movie and the one with the riddler. Only because joker and riddler are my favrite batman villians. I love these newer batman movies because they are more realistic than the original one. Heath Ledger did an awesome job playing joker. I would love to see riddler in one os these batman movies. Just to see what it's like. The older batman movies were more cartoonish I think. They were still pretty cool though.
Well technically we only have one confirmed villain in Bane and "Selina Kyle" who may or may not don the Catwoman costume (yet) in this movie. Could be a case like Dr. Connors (aka The Lizard) in the Spiderman movies where she's there but never in villain form (at least not in this movie).

Two Face is dead, and The Riddler has been a rumor floating around since the release of the Dark Knight Christopher Nolan has never confirmed he was putting The Riddler in this movie let alone that it would be Johnny Depp playing him... It's just a rumor that for some reason people still believe...

Everything that SlasherIncorporated said is the exact truth. Sadly, this is proven false. It was just speculation. However, I do believe that this would have been the performance of the year. Maybe even better than Heath's performance as the Joker. Just thinking about Johnny Depp playing the Riddler makes me laugh. He would've been better than Jim Carrey x10. If this truly is Nolan's last Batman film, then we won't ever see this role fulfilled. But who knows? Plans may change over time... ;)

Yeah I saw Frank Gorshin of course, but you have to understand everything in the 60s show was pretty campy and I do believe Carrey drew inspiration from that (along with the script writers). Gorshin's performance was great, he made the character his own completely but in a universe as serious as Nolan's, it wouldn't fit with a comical Riddler. Ledger as Joker didn't even try, save some body movement.

@d2000X Without the Joker there is no Harley. Yes Harley and ivy make a great pair, but part of what makes them work is that Ivy is a very strong femenist, and Harley is under the thumb of an abusive psychopath, without that dynamic, and ivy's seeming need to rescue Harley, it would be hard to do them justice in a movie.
I still think Adam West and Burt Ward r owed rolls in these films in some aspect. Frank Gorshin was a unbelievable "Riddler". His work holds up to this day. Some of the 60's show's were kinda cheesy, but the first year of the series along w/the second year series are X-Cellent!

Although was a good actor i feel he was way to serious in the dark knight about 90% of the movie. They already have. The title has been announced as "The Dark Knight Rises". Nolan has confirmed that The Riddler will NOT be in the movie. So we can finally put the Johnny Depp as the Ridler rumours to rest.
Casting already took place as well. Apparently, Anne Hathaway has been cast as Selena Kyle and Tom Hardy has been cast as Bane, with the rest of the esemble cast returning. It's unknown if Selena will become Catwoman in this movie but I assume she will since this is Nolan's last film, or so he says.
He has also confirmed that Two-Face IS dead. So we can put THAT rumor that he will be returning to rest as well. The Joker is also confirmed not to return or make any appearances.
And lastly, filming will start in May and conclude in November, with a release date of July 20th, 2012.

Really glad they do not have the Riddler in this new one coming out. And even more glad that Johny Depp is not going to be in it. Nothing against him, he is a great actor, but who would just dominate the movie completely. He has been in too many movies where he is the main guy. Same goes for the rumors of Angelie Jolie as Catwomen. Always knew they were false, but just happy they never actually came though.

Ledger had some great quotes that could make you consider he was quite more sane than you believed, and think of his philosophy, whereas Nicholson was just the generic bad (insane) guy, you know, rule everything, kill everything that moves (in a funny way though, I'll give him that), and all just for the hell of it. BATMAN is my favrite dc superhero. I really only liked the first batman movie and the one with the riddler. Only because joker and riddler are my favrite batman villians. I love these newer batman movies because they are more realistic than the original one. Heath Ledger did an awesome job playing joker. I would love to see riddler in one os these batman movies. Just to see what it's like. The older batman movies were more cartoonish I think. They were still pretty cool though.

Yeah I saw Frank Gorshin of course, but you have to understand everything in the 60s show was pretty campy and I do believe Carrey drew inspiration from that (along with the script writers). Gorshin's performance was great, he made the character his own completely but in a universe as serious as Nolan's, it wouldn't fit with a comical Riddler. Ledger as Joker didn't even try, save some body movement.

Casting already took place as well. Apparently, Anne Hathaway has been cast as Selena Kyle and Tom Hardy has been cast as Bane, with the rest of the esemble cast returning. It's unknown if Selena will become Catwoman in this movie but I assume she will since this is Nolan's last film, or so he says.

@SlasherIncorporated I know this but I and so many would LOVE to see him as the riddler, I think he'd be as good as the riddler as Heath Ledger was as the joker.

i hope that johnny depp plays in this movie we need another good actor especially since heath ledger is gone which sucks cause dark knight was awesome just imagine if he was still alive a arkham asylum movie would of been just awesome
