Hey man, I'm really digging this Jag. Do you think I can get a diagram for the wiring? I'm modding a Squier Jagmaster right now and was wanting to do something similar. Also, do you have any mod suggestions for the cutoff bypass switch if I don't go that route?
im thinking about modding a strat body with adeson pickups which are exact replicas of the burns tri sonic. Is there anything i should be concerned about when putting them in?
Hi Luke, you remind of a guy i worked with in IT....anyway, besides bizarre familiarity bordering on some kind of autism.....I really like what you have done with the guitar. I am still a bit undecided on the chisel work you did with the screw driver, but it seems to have made you happy with the effect?.
The move to change the pick guard was inspired, and suits the new p/up config.
The sound test you did is cool, love the riff near the end = very white stripes esque..keep it up Luke.
i watched every video leading up to this one, and i think your relicing of the jag was awesome, especially your electronics mods, are you into any other brand of guitars like Dean or B.C. Rich? i have a Dean MLX that i would like to mod a killswitch into and possibly thinking of upgrading my stock pickups to EMGs, could you put up a video with something like this? it would be very helpful to myself and many others.
man the comments are really tuff.It is ugly to spend your time in a project that really matters for you as this one and that some idiots spend his time in criticizing your work. Here in Argentina those are really expensive guitars(a classic player jaguar coasts at least 1700 Us$and the average salary its about 800 us$ or less)so i never would do that to my jazzmaster, but i think your guitar looks great!and it´s yours, not of the buttheads that leave comments, so fuck off those bastards
Hey Lukeyourself, I cannot believe this but you have built almost exactly the guitar that I have been dreaming of building myself. I always wondered if I could "Red Special" a jag. Do you have a wiring diagram that you could share? Did you ever think about trying to mod it so you could go between parallel (fender sounding) and series (brian may)?
I am seriously thinking of Burns Tri-Sonics now for my guitar, its got the Strat model and so I think the Burns pick-ups won't fit in my guitar's pick-up slots because Burns Tri-Sonics are fatter, right? How did you solve this? Did you carve extra space for them? And do you think it would still sound good if I hooked the Tri-Sonics up to a standard five-way switch?
Gersomwolf... Correct, the Burns are fatter and won't fit... but some delicate routing will do the job. Or even just a dremmel will do it! I think the 5 way switch will be fine. They are going to sound different no matter how you set them up! Go for it!
DavidColledani.... If I get the time, I will. I'd like to anyways. Was actually planning to demonstrate the differences between British and Chinese AC30 too. Stay tuned, but don't hold your breath too soon. :)
great stuff!! haha i was laghing through all 5 scenes, the guitar looks amazing! great work man, i have a mexico strat that i´ve almost burned to ashes, but it looks great! it looks like its 180 years old... the phase buttons are really cool, do you have instructions for that? i´d like to aply it to two different strats and a hagstrom VIKING, a gibson 335 style humbugger guitar.. thanks!!!!
i've got a question...i have a jaguar too, and i'm going to mod it, replacing pickup and other stuff......so how do you realize the hole for the third pickup? is it difficult?
Just a little bit of routing. I even used just a dremmel for parts of it. Just take it slow and test on a scrap piece of wood. Not as hard as it looks. Good luck!
jesus christ dude you have an insane ammount of gear. Tons of guitars pedals amps etc. What r u doing musically that requires you to have that much gear?
I play in a band that doesnt do top 40 hits. its called smokescreen. And I just write songs that are noisy. Also, I just like pressing buttons and hauling gear around.
i have a squier strat and it is beat up to the point that i need to replace everything but the body, do you thunk i should go forward with repairs or buy a new one?
ive seen your other vids, cool stuff dude. i was wondering if you've ever thought about making a Sonic Youth-ish Jazzmaster guitar aka Jazzblaster? hopefully you know what im talking about lol. ive never really seen a good description of what one sounds like. maybe you could help.
I do know what you're talking about. At least a little. That would be a project for far down the line i think... I wasn't that into them, enough to make a guitar. Why don't you try it!
what do these sound like with a fuzz pedal? I LOVE FUZZ!

hows about a clean, in phase, all 3 pickups with full tone if you get time
SuperPunk1995 1 year ago
@SuperPunk1995 i assume you can use all three
SuperPunk1995 1 year ago
Try a treble booster in front of it, this will make your burns and vox sing.

Are strat pickups default wiring in or out of of phase when you belnd them?
Also, the in phase pickups here actually have a weirld gibsonny tone don't you think?

Not bad, probably the amp or camera, but the distortion is way muddy and needs compression, as well as a treble boost.
a1gold174 2 years ago
Please, make an ac30 high gain distortion video with the bridge and middle pickup together, in phase. With a treble booster if possible.
I'm asking you that because brian may uses that pickup configuration 85% of the time, this way we could see roughly(!) how much woods affect tone.
Cheers!
