  • matrixate. Thank You very much. If I make just one hit, in my video, its not exciting and people dont get it. If I make three or more blows they like my video better. Whats a guy to do? I would really appreciate some of your video to see whats necessary. I always am willing to see good video on Escrima, so I can learn more. Waiting for the videos. Thanx

  • He keeps flaring the escrima too much...not necessary. Thumbs down.

  • When doing picking, its about enticing your opponent to commit. If he commits completely, than you can take advantage of the situation that you created. But, he will hit really hard and and fast. So, picking is both good and bad. If he fails to take the bait he is direct hitting, which is both once again hard and very fast! You can be caught in your own trap. Manong Cabales loved the advanced moves. But, he was expert in redirection and deflection. You must become very good at reading your foe.

  • The real picking is in a cereal box which a child will open today. He will be the chosen one.

  • Picking! Dang.... video cuts out on the real stuff..

  • Micahel213, We have lumbricils at the finger joints which send signals to the brain allowing us to know the position of the hand during complex movements. We have 27 bones and 37 muscles. A lot of our brain centers around the manipulation of the hand. If we grip anything hard, it becomes a hammer grip pushing focus towards the ulnar bone. Basically we lose our ability to make intricate movements. Serrada men practice the twirls because of reversing and faking, advanced moves. Master Ron Saturno

  • @rsaturnoserrada

I do apologise for not responding. I was relying on the notification system of YouTube.

I thank you for your elaborate response. It's interesting material which I will study further.

    Again, my apologies and thanks.

    Michael

  • I thought opening your hand while twirling your stick was a big no-no?!

    Can someone explain?

  • @Micahel213 In Serrada, twirling of the stick signifies the beginning and end of the demo. It also allows for quicker rotation. Though it can allow for an easier disarm or losing the stick w/ less experienced practitioners, it's not going to happen w/ someone like Master Ron's skill.

  • I wish I could of been there!

  • You know it was just this moment that I realised that I took that stick in the video from one of the truly great martial artisits of our time. Forgive me Sultan...just got caught up in the moment. You should have continued teaching! Good Luck with your T.V. show in Vegas and your many other film endeavors! Ron

  • Lee94503, All Masters presentations were not only taped, but in the near future will be released after being professionaly edited and reviewed. I showed much more than usual at this seminar and I am on pins and needles..,hoping that my presentation can even compare to the other Masters'. To have so many Masters of my system in one spot at one time was a true blessing! Look for it..if it doesn't show up soon write me 5masterserrada@gmail.com. Ron Saturno

  • I was hoping someone taped that seminar. Its a rare thing to have so many master in one place at one time sharing some advanced techniques like, Reversing and Picking. Great stuff!

  • Another spectacular video footage of Master Ron Saturno! He really is a wealth of information when it comes to Eskrima. I would watch anything he posts about Eskrima. I would listen to anything he has to say about Eskrima. Heck, I would listen to anything he has to say, period. For those who haven't seen his Panantukan with knife parts 1 and 2 videos, I say look it up right now. You'll be surprised with how much you'll learn. More power, Master Ron! Mabuhay ka!

  • Carlito, Dave is wanting to do something this weekend, and maybe Frank, who knowa, maybe we can all hang out....Everyone is invited. Master Ron Saturno

  • Master Saturno is one of the best in Serrada.

    Looking good brother. Carlito

  • Blackswantactical (Quadzero), I train with anybody, anytime, I am ready to learn from you as well as with you. Anybody who loves Escrima is my friend. I am truly blessed sometimes when I teach. It is an honor to be with those who love what they do. Many in life are not lucky enough to find their true love, Ron Saturno. Hope to see you soon

  • Master Ron... again, thank you for the wonderful information you have presented regarding your art... you are truly a blessing for us aspiring students of FMA...

  • Picking was trained with lock and block. Lock and block .... I consider it the very hardest to master and the most beautiful display of Escrima. It is the epitome of my art. Picking with Lock and block is breathtaking. GM Cabales displayed it with superb timing. The first time I saw it I knew that I was hooked for life.I do not have students right now...I would love to show the drills. It is wonderful to watch and is the basis of challenge match Serrada. Master Ron Saturno

  • Master Saturno, you rock! I would like to train with you the next time we meet.

  • Awesome vid, love the picking.

  • wow, alot of material one can get from this clip. It is people with movement like yours that makes the art of serrada alive. The info about baiting/faking is "plenty" to digest. Your movement is very much alive!

  • GM Mena said that Dizon and Ilustrisimo shared;. Your teacher came from a wonderful teacher. I wish I could have met him and learned from him, he was a living treasure. GM Cabales said his art was hidden in tthe P>II. I am showing only a little in this video. The movements flow and are very hard to stop. I would love to visit you someday,,,and comeback..ha, ha...Ron

  • @rsaturnoserrada

    Many thanks for the reply!

Yes, I enjoyed the interview series on you-tube where you talked a little bit about this (the sharing between GM's).

Likewise, we would love to be able to spend a little time with a great teacher like yourself.

Thanks again and I wish you the very best for the future.

    Simon.

  • Hi Master Ron.

I really, really enjoyed this video!

The concepts are very similar to what GM Yuli Romo teaches us here in the Philippines.

Can I ask is the material something that was taught in the Serrada system or is it something that you picked up along the way?

The description of the vid just says "Advanced Eskrima Techniques".

Thanks in advance and please let us know if you ever come to the P.I.

    Best Regards,

    Simon.

  • Thank the heavenly father for my blessings. A great blessing was GM Cabales and all the FMA family. We argue like brothers and sisters between our systems, but we have fighting arts and fighting history. In FMA there was no second best. I am nothing compared to my teacher and he once told me he was nothing compared to Dizon. What a wonderful thought. The men who came before us fought for their lives and love of their art. We may never see such times again. IMaster Ron Saturno

  • Master Ron...you re really quick...what we see here is Escrima at it s best!!!

  • I do not know too much about facebook...but send me a message and I will learn to get on your group....to keep in touch. Good Luck in New York. If you ever need an old broken down Escrimador to show a little of what I know and even more about what I do not know, get in touch. I really would like to stay in touch with you , who has been kind over time. Ron

  • Dear Master Ron,

Nice video. Just wanted to let you know that I have a Facebook group now for the New York Serrada group called NYC Serrada.

  • Master Saturno,

    Great video! :)

Great picking! Luv the "false 2" at :56.

The correlation you make between the angle 2 to angle 4 pick and Inside Block is eye-opening for any serious student of the art, as well as a tactical study into the breadth and depth of technique.

    Thanks for posting! :)
