  • lol why did yu bullshit i know the vids 3 years old but damn yur bullshittin the psp doesnt read off the scratched glass eat reads the disc where the rectangle square part is,, THATS where the lens on the psp is,, and thats where it reads the umd from,, the only good thing replacement umds offer is to be able to put yur game into a new casing because the old one was old, scratched,, glue residue on it,, or BROKEN,, NOT bcz it cant read a umd,, dumbass

  • it looks better than the white plastic

  • How do you actually open the original case?

Like my cases are cracked on the surface and they won't read, so it's not actually cracked open.

Sometimes I wonder if these things are more trouble than they're worth. :P

  • do you have ships to mexico?

  • I have a problem. My games have the clear cases and when Im going to eject the game from my psp 1000 the game doesn't come out like a Usual umb game case does. Help?!?!

  • can u get em at stores? never saw one

  • i took out the silver circle thing in the middle.. :( how do u put it back?

  • @Kareia79 simple do what i did with my syphon filter logans shadow,,just put it back on and use sum see-thru tape and put have of it on the metal part and half on the disc,, UNLESS yu wanna slowly use super glue and take the chance of the glue or the fumes gett ing on the disc and really fucking it up then just use tape and put it back in the umd case,, it will work trust me

  • @DjStiv3 omg!ty ty sooooo much!! XD

  • @Kareia79 lol no probalem unless yur a creful person and have special superglue yu can try that but if yu want a quick fix with no drastic reactions like ruining yur game then use tape,, im still playing my SFLS game and it works perffectly,, i since ive had a psp go i got a digital copy too for 10 bucks from psn store

  • @Kareia79 yes it DID work!! XD that's why I'm like so freaking happy!!you're an angel, a hero, a savior!! ty tytytytytyty.. XD .. although.. the game sucks.. :p .. blegh

  • 果然有再賣PSP的UMD

  • yo craziest idea how bout u hack ur psp and just download an iso and use it off ur mem stick since u own the game already so it wouldn't be considered piracy.

  • i broke ratchet and clank

  • what do i do if the silver part fell???????

  • how can i put the metalic center of the umd ??

  • i accidentley took the silver bit out of the middle of the disc. what shall i do???

  • use a teeeeny bit of tape to keep it in place.

  • lol thats what i did and the disc works fine now, im just waiting for a new case to arrive.

  • ahahaha

  • one of my umds is ripped in 2 pieces, and it still reads in my psp 1000

  • theres new ones were you just snap......... this is the old version i think this one is more safe because of the screws but its the same thing its a really good product 3 umd shells for like 1 dollar and im not jokeing

  • holy crap u just salved so many things imma buy like 7 of them!!!!

now i can finally fix all my games!!!!!!!!!!1

  • @rogers695 go to ebay,, i see yur comment is old an yu proably bought them already but dont again go to ebay

  • oh man I got a dead one my self. man when Sony envented the UMD. China cheap with no testing is the problem.

However I like to get heavy duty version.

your replamcent looks rather cheap. it looks like its going to crack

I rather spend more money buying a heavy duty replacement UMD shell

  • do the screws come with em?

  • well duh.

  • i dont know if its shitty luck but do the star wars UMD cases break faster because i had bought 2 games at the same time(new) and used them virtualy the same amount of time(and same abuse) and the star wars one just broke

  • were to find replesments?

  • how much is it dude?

  • Around $5

  • this is so usefull i put my psp games oin a case and some one sat on it now their all jacked up! and this will save my games but where do you buy them?

  • click the link on description. They cost 3.99$ each

  • wait isnt that a lil expensive

  • nope =D

  • does anyone know how to fix a umd disk

  • Once it's scratched there's no going back with these guys.

This video is your best chance.

He says something to the effect of "very little protective layering".

Well these guys have almost no protective varnish.

Imagine a coat of paint on the crust of the earth.

If it's not playable at all though, just try some of those quick solutions to fix CD's.

Not like the toothpaste or peanut butter stuff.

That will just scratch it more.

Real products like eye glass cleaner.

  • Multimedia Recovery can repair scratches on the UMD's, but only if they aren't very deep. Believe it or not, there is a layer of protection on the UMD's. :)

  • seriously thanks thank you very much for your video, then that was fixing my UMD and if I had not seen your video had not saved my game thanks

  • fake umds

  • There is no such a thing as a fake UMD, you cannot copy UMD games as there is no UMD-R, UMD-RW..

  • it look like fake umd to me...

  • my friend can copy umd to memory stick his version of his psp is 5.00

  • @X0LiftedUp0X but you can read out the .iso from a UMD to your PC and it's even not illegal (in germany, i don't know how it is in other countries) because they haven't a copyright) but downloading is illegal...

  • @X0LiftedUp0X then how does sony make the games?? lol there is a reader out there but there are no umd blank discs tho,, theres a reader but no blank umd's

its rare bcz its not produced or sold to the market,, if it was then yes ther wud be a fuckload of fake copies out there,,

  • lol... it doesn't matter at all if the outer casing is scratched. It doesn't read the outer casing of the UMD, it reads the disc. And if the disc is scratched, you can't fix it by replacing the outer casing.

  • No one is saying anything about scratches on the case.. It's about broken cases..

  • "PSP umd's are notorious for getting scratched up, making them virtually unplayable. However, instead of going out and spending 40 bucks on a game you already own just to play it again, here at videogamecentral we have replacement UMD shell casings."

I'm pretty sure he is talking about scratches on the CASE, since if the UMD DISC were scratched, buying a replacement CASE would make absolutely no difference. That's all I'm sayin.

  • The Scratches on the Case Make No Difference... The Scratches in the Disc Do...

  • i been using psp for a long time nd know its hacks so trust me buying umd is waste of money

  • This is not a hack rather a repair for broken UMD cases. Sony does not provide repairs for the casing of UMD disks. So your only bet is to buy these UMD cases. That or waist $40 on a disk which is renderd useless. You pick. After all, you've been using a PSP for a long time...

  • dud3 do u acctuallly know how to hack a psp......learn it nd save money

  • Yes I do. A 'hack' means to modify. But with most electronic that includes voiding the warranty (Which is usually a sticker which needs to be removed to do so). How about you learn it dude3.

  • u don't get out much do u....listen hacking a psp doesnt change it warenty nd ur psp is opened to its full potential which can be very useful nd i dont mean removing the sticker or opening the psp i mean changin the software to a hacked version....opening the psp will not help

  • 1) I don't need to "get out much" to know between a 'hack' and a 'mod'.

    2) We are talking about two different hacks. I'm talking about changing the casing, putting neons lights in the background, etc. You're talking about hacking the PSP's software. Two very different things. But both are hacks and/or mods in a way.

    3) In your first post, you said that the UMD disk cases in the video are hacks. You then move on to say it isn't. Which is it? You don't even know what you're saying.

  • no itx not a hack bt still dud3 by now u should have learned that psp umd disks are very very xpensive nd just putting games in ur memory stick is free nd u can save alot of money thats all m sayin now u got me all confused

  • downloading games are illegal dude

  • m all abt illegal nd who is gona know u hacked ur psp

  • Also where can I buy the cases.

  • Does it still work if you dont put the screws

  • misnight club dub edition

  • Perfect, but where do you get the replacement shell cases?

  • Thanks, i like ur review i think i will am going to buy some!!!

  • go fuck yo mama

  • lmfao i was like all pissed off that my midnight club 3 shell fell apart , then i click this vid and ur fixing up the same game and problem i got lol

  • well u can buy the game and stil have your psp hacked well thats what i do

  • just hack your psp and u dont need a freaking UMD

  • Not everyone likes to rip off the video game companies therby ruining the quality and quantity of games released on the PSP..

  • I like how dumb you are.

  • lmao what a nice comment

  • THIS FUCKER IS TRYING TO CON U GUIYS INTO BUIYING CASINGS. common sense the lens is over the opening of the case, right side. the casing condition is irrelevent.

  • Un-true, try cracking one of your games and playing it if you don't believe?

  • you dont actually think im stupid enough to crack one of my games?! dumb fuck

  • Well, then don't complain if you've never had it happen to you. Plently of other people have.

  • im right your wrong and everyone with half a brain knows that this is bullshit. the laser doesnt read the bloody casing it remains always above the exposed part of the disc.

  • The disc doesn't operate properly when any part of the casing is cracked or slpit apart. Do a Google search and you can sort through the complaints on this subject to see my sources of information.

  • dude u are one it works i did it to 10 of my games

  • i have a problem with that

i don't have debit card or a paypal account

    what can i do?

  • nice

  • thanks man ive been buying games because they where so scratched i didnt know what to do

  • r they sold at eb games

  • What does it matter if the plastic of the reading side is scrached? It doesn't interfere with the reading since the lens shoots on the opening. This is good only if the old umd casing is split open.

  • awesome

  • fuckin idiot, you didn't event that, another other company did

  • sweet

  • r these Replacement Shells r easly available...?

  • this makes me think u can burn mini cds then throw em into those umds cases then just play em on the psp

  • The sizes of the discs are different. Mini discs are a bit bigger.

  • How do i fix the top of the disc cover I droped it and the clear plastic collaped on the disc how do I get it to work again?

  • if its the round plastic cover in the front just take it off and pop in the disck in the psp and without it it will still work

  • My case broke completly damn!

  • only handy if the case is broken.

The umd laser only reads the disc at the part that is cut open. So if the rest of the plastic is all scratched it doesn`t matter and it will still works.

  • Yes, we all know this. But, some people may want these to better protect their games so they do not get busted so easy in Sony's flimsy cases. A bigger rental company uses these for these reasons.

  • dont be such a big head we might not all have known that this is only handy if the case is broken not scratched

  • Where do you buy the shel kases?

  • VideoGameCentral

  • Sweet, thanks.

  • Dude where can you get those?

  • Look to the right of the Video Description.

  • i question the intelligence of people who buy this unless they completely shattered the cear windows

  • Sony's cases just suck, if it's cracked anywhere, the game doesn't always play.

If you want to try and be smart, do it elsewhere, thanks. :)

  • Just an FYI the casing bieng scratched up has no baring on it reading, the only part that reads is the mini disc inside itself, the metal thing in the middle is grabbed by a magnet thats attatched to a motor so the disc can spin and be read through the open door of the casing, so the plastic shell bieng scratched has absolutely no baring on the discs reading, the only reason you'd replace the outer shelling for scratches is simply cosmetic. The shell coming off is the only optimal reason.

  • No you are absolutely mistaken. It is not cosmetic. The casing is a carriage for the UMD. If it does not sit correctly in the PSP it will not read. Why don't you make us a video of your PSP UMDs playing without the "cosmetic plastic shell" and we'll send you a prize! Because millions of PSP owners have had to toss out broken (or so they thought) PSP games because of the beyond damaged PSP casing would not do in their PSP's!!

  • I think you misunderstand my point. its not going to act up off of a minor scratch on the shell off of the casing. I'm merely saying that you can still use the scratched cases as long as your disc is intact, the umd can be scratched to hell and as long as its not breaking off of the UMD, it'll still play. and for the record, I've played a UMD with the shell broken JUST like the one in the video you displayed, it was lumines 1, and it happened to play just fine like that on a model 1 PSP.

  • Doesn't always work that way, in fact I've never heard of anyone being able to play a cracked game. I say prove it if you're going to say it can be done. Text is meaningless.

I've repaired 20,000+ of these for a rental company at my business and before we released the replacement cases, you had to glue the cases together to get the game to play again. :0

  • I would, but honestly, I threw those games away years ago, and I no longer am in possession of the model1psp. As I was saying, scratches on the shell is immmaterial because simply, the open piece of plastic, to the UMD is the only spot the laser will read. the nanometers that a scratch makes the umd sit differently doesn't effect the reading much, simply because the metal piece in the middle is picked up by a magnet, setting the disk to spin exactly where and how it needs.

  • Yet again, I will tell you that this is un-true. You are right in saying the laser reads through the opening, but when your case is cracked, it is redenred un-playable. You may get lucky in some cases that it will still read, but most times the game will not load when the case is cracked anywhere. Try it yourself on any game, but don't just come back and say it works. Make us a vid. And t he model of the psp is irrelevant.

  • It actually stands for what we can Mini Media Replacement

  • Those look like the old MMD cases

  • whats an MMD

  • Its a companny that started releasing UMD replacement cases, what i went was these look like their older models.

  • You mean MMR?

  • yeah

  • the silver thing in the middle came out of the disk can you fix

  • yea were could i buy thoughs i need alot

  • Look in the Video Description.

  • that means you could copy the umd to your computer yes it a mirical

  • No, you can copy them without this product. It's called Homebrew. These cases don't enable you to copy the files..

  • Do you honestly think that putting a cheap piece of scotch tape on a umd disc is really a good idea when you put your game/movie umd into a sensitive PSP laser compartment?? I don't think so.

  • dummys, no offence, but it wont read if case is not secure no point going throug all that junk, just get clear scotch tape and it works perfect, no point wastin bling, money, on cases just sayin

  • my problem is that my psp doesnt reads my umd it worked all fine but than all of the sudden it doesnt even shows te game in ur psp

  • Could be a problem with scratches on the disc or maybe even the case is bad.

Most likely though, it's a scratch on the disc itself.

  • no cause the games work all fine on my bros psp

i m sending it tomorrow to sony

  • The PSP reads the disc... not the shell casing >_>

These are for replacing broken shells, like when they are snapped in half or whatever, if a umd stops working, the disc needs cleaning or is too scratched to work.

I mean come on, why would the shell have a big square hole if the psp just read it right through the shell? -_- Common sense people...

  • Break one of your UMD cases and see if it still works.

  • my four year old cousin thought he had to take his discs out of the cases to play them.

he put them back in to the cases that he broke open and they all work fine.

as long as the disc is in the correct position when it comes to being read, it doesnt matter how messed up the casing is

  • In most cases, yes it does matter. I've repaired thousands of these UMDs from GameFly because they would not play due to the case being cracked open or the top was falling open.

Just because it is not a problem for you or the "careful" gamers, doesn't mean it's not a problem.

  • yeah dude hes right, thats why theres a place for the laser to read. It doest read through the plastic. the replacements are for when the cases break. And they do break. but if the shell is scratched and not the disc, the umd will work fine. Common sense people...

  • We've had quite a few PSP games that were literally stepped on and the cases were falling apart. Yes, we know, the game is read by the laser and not through the case, but these games were unplayable until we replaced the case.

  • are these good?

  • We wouldn't advertise them if they weren't good. They can revive your games, no joke!

  • cool! my game shells are screwed!

  • cool video...finally somebody who came up with something to fix these games we have been looking for ever for these. My son has 10 games and I think 8 are ruined, very cool

  • r they trust worthy?
