If thats not her bird house then what she is doing is evicting which ever bird has been using it. If it is her Bird House already then she may just be relining the nest...or...I had a case of a small bird who built his nest and the next day his mate got sick, he tried to undo everything he had done hoping, one supposes it would reverse the illness in his mate, so he undid his nest...thats the only time ive seen a bird do something like that lol
You should trap him while he in the birdhouse and then blow a lot of smoke in there. When you lethim out he'll be so scared that he'll get the hell outta dodge and NEVER look back. That's what I did when I had wrens taking over my bluebird house. I taped the hole up when they went in there then I banged the shit out of it for an hour and when i removed the taped they flew out of there like a bolt ol lightening and NEVER looked back.
It's a she and she is fat with babies! parakeet usually don't like nests! thats why and if theres eggs in there she'll steal em from the mamma. its natural in parakeets
I had a parakeet that few out of the house before...luckily, I found her the same day I lost her. It's a good thing too...since a squirrel was close by her...
@fantom58 males are meaner and in the wild they kill each other and attack females that wont breed..females will kill too. they are aggresive birds by nature and gang up if need be....
i got a free blue male budgie it flew into my moms hair and didnt know what it was so we went to petsmart and bought it everything and it already knew to talk and stuff :)
parrots dig their "nests" in trees, they dont build nests with little pieces of wood and stuff like other birds do: their nests are empty cavities, that's why this little fella here is taking all the "crap" out, he needs the little wooden house to be empty to make it his nest :) poor scaped budgie btw, they don't live through winter :(
my budgie ran away too :( i dont know if its still alive but i keep seing some green birds around the neighborhood do you think it could have survived the winter?
When I put a little grass or anything into the breeding box my female parakeet takes it all out. I think they just don't like it. But yea, looks like she's wanting or getting ready to breed.
This parakeet is actually a female! Females will go into nest boxes to establish territory! If she found an escaped male, I'm sure that they would breed.
It's a renovation project. The last owners left a mess and this guy is getting it ready to move in. Or maybe he's going to try to flip it, but good luck in this market.
I'm pretty sure it is a girl. Plus, parrots will always use the highest nest away from predators, so there is no way that she ill move to a nest that is lower down.
Its really funny because that box is covered in paint ball splatter shots. LOL Someones been trying to fire that parakeets yellow ass up with paint balls. LOLOL I say the guy doing the vid is guilty. LOL If it wouldnt let me catch it I would shoot it with a paint ball gun. LOLOLOLOL
Wow. That's pretty badass if it was a domesticated parakeet that escaped its home. You would think an escaped parakeet would just fly around until a hawk got to it, but this BAMF took out a sparrow's nest and claimed its own turf.
catmanams: The same way anything else happens - you open your door to get a package and the cat slips out behind you, you turn your back one second to refill your child's cup and they start choking on their food, you open the cage to refill the water and seed and the bird slips out. Things happen. That's life. That doesn't mean someone is 'careless'.
If there were chicks in there, the mom bird would be kickin' ass. They'd protect the nest. Also, baby birds are usually kinda loud. Cute video and lovely bird house. I think the parakeet was attracted to that fancy paint job. Neon yellow bird goes well with it.
I had a green budgie fly up and land in my lap one day. I brought it in and bought a cage for it. Still have it to this day. I guess it must have been someones pet that got loose. Thats why you shouldnt buy birds for small children. They always end up killing them or losing them. Buy your kids a fish . When they get old enough for birds they can buy one for themselves. Because they should have a job by then.
@SputnikMedia im only 13 and iv had budgies since i was 8 and in 5 years 1 died out of 3...but there was something wrong wit her legs and she was always walking weird my mom thought it was jst a birth defect and she died within a month of when we got her :( so yeah i have had 2 budgies for about 5 years and i still have them!
@SputnikMedia - I got a parakeet when I was about 9 and it lived a full life. Some kids can handle a pet, while others aren't responsible enough. I proved to my parents that I could handle it by feeding the cat without prompting and reading a book on parakeet care from cover to cover. The most important part is to know your kids.
@blast4music im a "kid" and my parakeets have been living for over four years by now...they are always happy..and i let them out of my cage anytime, just, not out of the house. im the only one who cares for them..thats why all of them are calm to me, and let me pet them. they even go on my hands so they could be touched. they seem happy with me taking care of them. so, yea the little kids, like 8 and under, but im 11, and im sure that's still a "kid" that's really offensive to me and myfriends
@flipklenefoeva , you are a testament to someone who will do well in your life in the future. your caring for birds is much apprieciated by me and all birds in the world.. well done , no wonder your birds love you. your mum and dad should be very proud of you!!
@SputnikMedia im a "kid" and my parakeets have been living for over four years by now...they are always happy..and i let them out of my cage anytime, just, not out of the house. im the only one who cares for them..thats why all of them are calm to me, and let me pet them. they even go on my hands so they could be touched. they seem happy with me taking care of them. so, yea the little kids, like 8 and under, but im 11, and im sure that's still a "kid" that's really offensive to me and myfriends
@SputnikMedia I bought my kid a fish but she didn't like it....it was a salmon from the deli down the street....I kept telling her "it's your responsibility now, you have to take care of it".....but we ended up having to throw it out after about 7 weeks....my daughter was only 35 at the time though....maybe she was too young for it.
@SputnikMedia ... ahaha... i took good care of my pet budgie when i was a kid... my dad then told me an elaborate story on how it ran away when i was gone for the summer and he was taking care of it... o-o I think it's not age, it's more on willingness to truly understand and care for an animal.
@nameman1 Yeah I agree. ^^; I also think buying a pet for a child can help them learn how to take proper responsibility as well. As a parent just make sure to tell them everything that needs to be done before you make the choice of buying a pet, and in case things don't work out be prepared to take care of it yourself lol.
Buying pets on surprise though is always a pretty bad idea regardless of age (IE like as a gift). It's important to talk about it and make sure you're both up to the task.
@SputnikMedia But if you buy fishes to kids you need to take care of them cause an aquarium need some work to get a place where the fishes are happy in it.
Definitely a hen budgie looking for a nesting place. My hen just tears & destroys anything i put in her box. And yeah the cere is definitely a BIG indicator on the sex. Some birds have the cere discolour over time but generally bright pink/purple/blue is male, and baby blue with a dusky powdery white and white nostril rings is a young or unconditioned female, and brown crusty cere is a female in breeding condition. :)
first of all it's a budgie and second os that this video shows how budgies adapt so quickly if they should be so unfprtunate to get out of their homes.

you cannot tell by the cere alone. If you knew anything about birds at all you would know that the cere is just a CLUE about what the gender is and isn't always correct. The only TRUE way to tell is to DNA test. You could also feel it's under side but thats not always accurate.
Its a female, so probably that's why shes destroying the nestbox, to make her own! try to set a trap by placing another budgie preferably a male in a cage !
this is why you can't handle pet birds outside your house...even though it seems to trust you... only let it free roam inside the house in a secure area. lol
thats how budgies behave, most of the time, they dont like having things inside their nesting box, they want ti empty, but probably the bird died because budgies cant survive in the city
Once I heard a story on the news that said parakeets are adapting to towns after they ecscaped. He probably ecsaped from someones house and found a home up there.
I wonder why the person taping did not try to catch the bird? I know I would have at least tryed to catch it and then see if there were any babies in the bird house. Oh well at least the bird is happy and nothing bad happened to it. I hope he finds his way back to his owner or vise versa soon.
no one cares what it eats do you noooo! this bird is an killer wow with no place to stay it will die it has to keep warm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If thats not her bird house then what she is doing is evicting which ever bird has been using it. thats how budgies behave, most of the time, they dont like having things inside their nesting box, they want ti empty, but probably the bird died because budgies cant survive in the city

I just came upon your video, is the parakeet still around? Did it survive?
pattyinla 3 years ago
We stopped seeing it after this video was made about 2 years ago. We found an egg inside the birdhouse with no nesting, but no budgie.

Here's something funny! This video popped up on my page after my video Parakeet video finished, so I watched it.
I was going to ask where you were from, and then I checked your channel page, and it said FairLawn, NJ.
LOL, I made a parakeet video, too. I live 2 towns away from you in Bergen County.

you sound like you're very fond of this parakeet

I wonder why the person taping did not try to catch the bird? I know I would have at least tryed to catch it and then see if there were any babies in the bird house. Oh well at least the bird is happy and nothing bad happened to it. I hope he finds his way back to his owner or vise versa soon.
