  • It reminds me of the first girl I ever loved.still at least the songs not lost its appeal.magnificent to hear it after all this time.so many memories good and bad.

  • nothing ever comes close to this band, love, love, love! please take me back!!

  • Oh to be able to see them live, caught The Style Council in Cardiff once but never a touch on The Jam... my true love still 30+ years on!

  • to be someone / its too bad live is awesome

  • Best Jam song ever, in my humble opinion.

Second best - Thick As Thieves.

3rd - To Be Someone (Didn't We Have A Nice Time)

    4th - All Mod Cons.

    5th - Carnation.

    Best album? The Gift.

  • Absolutely blown away by this gem. Replay!

  • Damn! that is a cool song

  • Fucking brilliant

  • soundtrack to my youth

  • @joydivision808 i hear ya m8 i was young then, and saw them live many times...... wish i could go back........

  • May I recommend the book 'A Concise Guide To Eighties Music' by Karl Vorderman. The author is a big fan of this track.

  • There's really no better song to listen to when you're a tad under the weather. GO JAM :)

  • i play this LP over and over it reminds me of hot sunny days as a kid love it

  • Best Jam Lp!!!!

  • to martatff.in 1982 this masterpiece was already 2 yrs old.and old mod 67 if you cant think of any good songs on sound affects your either mutt and jeff or did not really like the jam.monday to me is one of the best jam tracks ever.from memory trck 3 is BUT IM DIFFFERENT NOW.good song.and 10 is scrape away which is the only average song on an otherwise complete album.get a fuckin grip

  • 1982, bunking school & visiting thrift shops for Jackie O outfits, and hanging around record shops to meet sharp young men...

  • If you are a devotee of eighties' music, then check out the book 'A Concise Guide To Eighties' Music' by Karl Vorderman.

  • Mondays mondays!!

  • In my view, their poorest album with very little that good on it

  • such a great song ..wonderful lyrics, people say Weller gets better with age, but you know, he was writing some bloody great stuff in his youth, he does get a lot of respect, but hes still underrated as a song writer , well I think so . hes wrote some wonderful songs over the last 30 odd years, songs that shaped my youth and more so now.. long may he continue, giving us quality music and gigs that he does.

  • @ablondenortherngirl totally agree wiv you!!!

  • "Enter Sandman" riff is so much similar to this bass line.

  • luv this song. so meaningful

  • 'But with a sunshine girl like you, it's worth going through. I will never be embarressed about love again' Pure brilliant writing, beautiful lyrics from Weller - He is a God.

  • This song is like the blueprint for Blur....

  • I remember borrowing this from a girl at school (Marie) it was her boyfriend (Robin's) I seem to recall, although I did buy my own! Just got the Deluxe CD edition.Still the best Jam album, followed by Setting Sons. I know All Mod Cons gets all the plaudits, and it is a great album, but Sound Affects was always better. Highlights...Monday,Dreamtime,Man in The Corner Shop. The flexipop version of Boy About Town is the best version though.Buy the new CD with instrumental Scrape Away and unedited Monday

  • @OldMod67 What you mean to say is buy the vinyl, and the original.

  • @OldMod67 I dont rate this album at all very much ; in my view Setting Sons is a brilliant album, streets ahead of this with their best songs, arrangements and musicianship. Cant think of many good songs on here. The best for me are tracks 3 and 10. Start (single) is quite good as well

  • only The Jam makes me Dreamin of Monday. second place would be a lover I met on monday after work...happy times brothers & sisters

  • magic song

  • What a superb album this was... and this is such an evocative song.

  • Takes me back to being 14..

  • yeah well i think we all agree that this/and these guys are the epitome of "COOL".

  • what kind god gives you Joe Strummer and Paul Weller in the same decade?.... A Female one

  • Riff from "Enter Sandman" sounds like bass line from this song, same notes.

  • What a funkin chooooooooooooooooooon!!!!

  • i was in school and in love, this song i can so relate to, 42 now and it still takes me back

  • the man is a genius

  • kevin phillips i hate you just another bad man. the song was great though

  • sound effects is the JAM at their peak! an album that has it all.

still vital & fresh today...all mod cons, setting sons, sound effects, the gift jesus the consistency of these four records is & always will be ahead of its time....the smiths prob only band to equal that consistency. wellers fave jam album & mine 2!

  • Love this tune. My 3rd favorite Jam song. Great album too. A mix of Psychedelia, Punk, Pop, and New Wave.

  • @therealsoulproduct What's the top two?

  • The Jam lives on....Thank you!

  • This song reminds me of Friday in highschool that I couldn't wait til Monday to see my friends again.

  • A few years ago, in one of its commercials, a company specializing in the filing of income tax returns used a version of The Beatles' "Taxman" which sounded almost exactly like this song. If you can believe it, the cover sounded much better. This is definitely my favorite song by The Jam. Outstanding entry, Alexm799!
