I must admit, I'm distrubed by many of these comments. I'm half Welsh half English, I'm fully aware that in it's truest sense, England is not a real country as stated here, and thank God someone's actually trying to educate people about this fact because it IS an annoying misconception I agree. If England was a member of the UN and so was Britain and so was the UK, it would be like having basically the same country three times. We govern ourselves as the UK, made up of three counties: England, Northern Ireland and Scotland, and one principality: Wales. Thats why the UK is a member of the UN and not England, but it doesn't mean that England is not a real country.

We govern ourselves as the UK, made up of three counties: England, Northern Ireland and Scotland, and one principality: Wales. @dauntless111 You'll find that England is a country, but is unified by act of union. Just as Wales are a country, and Scotland. England not being represented in the UN, does not mean it is not a country. The UK represents a group of countries UNITED. All of which have their own representative and legislative bodies. The United Kingdom represents joint issues shared by these countries.If these countries no longer wish to be part of the UK, they can become independent through their own government.

@dauntless111 It is though. Like you're welcome to your own opinion on the matter concerning whether we should be a member of the UN and Eu etc. I won't express my views on this matter! But the point is England is a sovereign country, no matter what you argue! England matches all definitions of a country. It is autonomous, it has it s own parliament, sovereign, taxes, military, economy. The United Kingdom helps us further all of these things! England still is a country!

@Pluginbaby9777 I'm sorry, but it is not an 'opinion'. It's a fact. England in not Autonomous, England is controlled by the UK, which is run by Scots, English, Welsh and Irish. England does NOT have it's own parliament, otherwise it would be 100% and there would not currently be an active campaign to get and English Parliament by (you guessed it) the 'Campaign for an English Parliament' organisation. Taxes are set by the UK, Military is UK, Economy is run by the UK.
