@jeaniebaby001 Actually, Hurt, is not a Nine Inch Nail's song but a Johnny Cash's song in the 1st place. So I don't think Lisa Germano inspired Johnny Cash,...
This version of "The Darkest Night of All" comes from a compilation CD called "2 Meter Sessies - Volume 5," originally released by Radio Records, though Amazon lists it as coming from Sony; it's the 14th song on the CD. As Fixkes notes in a comment from two years ago, this is a recording off Dutch radio.
HELP ME, IT'S IMPORTANT: i wanna know what version is this, and where i can find it: in fact, the original version (in "Happiness") is different (shorter and richer instrumentally). Thanx, and forgive my english:-)
This is the first time I have heard this version. Like the original, it is beautiful. If anyone finds out where it is available please post. What an amazing talent and what a breathtaking song.
Wonderful and beautiful song. Her new CD is her best in years. I saw her at the Knitting Factory in NYC a few years ago. After her performance I handed her a card expressing how much I love her music and writing. A couple of weeks later I got a postcard in the mail from Lisa, thanking me for my kind words, etc. I framed it and will treasure it always. Lisa is so down to earth and cool. I couldn't believe I met her again when I walked into Book Soup on Sunset Blvd and she was working there!
I first "met" lisa germano when i was 18 years old more or less... im 32 now, and I think this is one of the best interpreters ever... I lost her cd, one of the 1st i ever bought with my own money, and since she's not main stream it was always so hard to find ppl who knew her... ty for posting this and taking me back to when everything was easy.
I'd love to see her sing a duet with Damien Rice... tht would rly rock my world:)
I first got to know this song, oddly enough, from an episode of "Homicide" and thought the singer had such an interesting voice I had to search until I found it. So, thanks for posting this video and helping me end my search.

@lilitifrock Hurt was released by Nine Inch Nails in 1994 on the album 'The Downward Spiral', Johnny Cash recorded a cover of it in 2003.
And while 'The Darkest Night of All' was released during 1993, and not 1981, it's possible the song inspired (the NINE INCH NAILS song) 'Hurt'.

excuse me, do you mean she sang a duet with Damien Rice, or is that just something you would like to? whatever the case is, I do agree with you!

it doen't seems the Lp version, where did you take it?
fabiomandol 4 years ago
I think it's taken from the "2 meter sessies", a series of accoustic live sessions on Dutch radio, which where made avaliable on CD.

I love Lisa Germano! I encourage you to listen to more of her songs. I never knew hurting so much could be put to music.
