thats some funny shit!! we have been talkin about buildin one of these for ages, with a heap or old RC plane servos, gyro etc.. would be hilarious in action
yeah nice :) perhaps a little more speed on the iddle speed and a flat surface (no grass ) would make it easier to ride . (big fight with the steering otherwise)
Wow dude, I think they wanted a SIMPLE PROJECT. I think your the stupid one here. Building a robot to apply the correct pressure on to a peg and retract that pressure would cost about 10x more and be 10 x more complicated.
And you OBIVIOUSLY DONT RIDE A MOTORCYCLE. AT SLOW SPEEDS, such as these, REAL motorcycles use counter weighting and turning of the handle bar.
Im 99% sure that this motorcycle would fall over if it started to lean by a robot that applied pressure to the pegs.
actually, he's on to something. you steer a motorcycle with your eyes and butt, more so than the bars. the whole camera/electronic package is also too high and far forward. It's throwing off the C.G. of the whole bike, making it unstable.
It was far too difficult to make it function properly with the remote steering placed anywhere else on the bike. We were steering this by remote, so I don't see how we could use our butts to help control the motorcycle. LOL. We weren't going for stability, just the fact that we were steering it by remote. We did that.
I'm just suggesting you lower the center of gravity of the machine by redistributing the weight. The added stability will make it easier to operate by remote.
Peg pressure is for lowering the center of gravity so that it´s easier to COUNTER STEER, COUNTER STEERING IS DONE WITH THE FREAKIN HANDLEBARS YOU DAMN NOOB.
NOT WITH YOUR BODY WEIGHT, you cant even get a decent wiggle in the bike with your body weight, you only use it to have a certain lean angle , not to get to that lean angel.
You lean off, bike stays more upright for the same corner and speed, you sit straight up motocross style, bike leans over more.
AND NOW LETS ALL REPEAT: WE DO NOT STEER WITH OUR BODY WEIGHT, WE USE THE HANDLEBARS BY COUNTER STEERING AND WE USE THE OUTSIDE PEG TO PUSH OFF SO THAT WE CAN APPLY FORCE ON THE HANDLEBARS.
No pushing off the tank with your knees, no but twisting, just centralizing the point of gravity by applying force to the outside peg and at the same time using it as a anchor point to generate force on the handle bars.
And for those that don't know what Counter Steering is, lets just say you don't steer to the left to go to the left....OMG
Riding a motorcycle involves quite a lot of theory, whether ppl like it or not, if you don't know your theory, start your ride by going by the bookstore and getting some good books on motorcycle driving techniques.

Haha gosh its funny how stupid smart people are, you don't steer a motorcycle with the handlebars. You use peg pressure and counter steering.
