I'm in the military and hetero, but I do support the repeal of the DADT, but these two individuals have violated other provisions of the UCMJ that will get the Lt kicked out. It is forbidden to take part in political demonstrations while in uniform regardless of what the issue is. The Capt is in violation for wearing a uniform after he has been discharged from military service. So, continue the protests if you wish, but do not wear the uniform while doing so.

It is not a question of anyone in the military being gay. That issue has quite frankly never been a real concern of the brass in Washington. The issue is this, you simply cannot have people openly say they are gay, as this makes it impossible to keep order in the ranks. Straight men and women would refuse to shower, dress in front of, and complain of sexual harassment to their superiors. Too close contact makes this declaration impossible.

You know, I am gay, and I was in the NAVY for 5 years, and I knew and understood the DADT policy, and I really don't understand why DADT is a big deal. In fact, the guys that I knew that were discharged under DADT were mostly straight, or they outed themselves in order to get out early. I never had any problems with being gay in the NAVY and everyone knew I was gay. They either didn't care, or if they did, they only talked to me about work related issues.
