  • i read the abridged version of little women and it didn't cover the 2nd part, its in another book called "good wives". i had only read the first part and i thought jo would end up with laurie in the 2nd but my mom told me he ended up with amy. so i refused to read the 2nd part, just watched the movie. i still think it sux that the first part spends so much time building jo and laurie's relationship and then they arent together. the first book even ends with jo on a sofa and laurie by her side

  • I completely agree that Laurie and Jo were in love and would have been perfect together, but the book is based on Alcott's real life. She was Jo, and maybe that's just how things turned out

  • Ugh I HATE Amy and Laurie 2gether

  • @inconsolable24 same here!! I got really depressed too after reading the sequel

  • I only watched this film once and i cried loads. Christain bales a great actor and he is incredibly hot. He doesnt really look any different from batman and thats years later.

  • i think that Alcott did this on purpose. because life isn't always full of happy endings just the way we picture them and Little Women is true to life. so as much as it breaks our hearts that Jo didn't end up with darling Teddy, isn't that how it may have really happened?

  • Love Jo's necklace at 1:00 - simple, yet so classically elegant!

  • Laurie is perfect for Joe. Amy is NOT. Wtf, Louisa May Alcott. I've never understood that.

  • i love laurie :(

  • We have such spoiled sensibilities and are so in love with love and the idea of "the one true love." They were all fortunate, as poor girls in their time, to make matches for love that turned out well. Laurie and Jo might have had a happy marriage, though tempestuous and passionate, if they had waited for one another to mature, but I'm sure Laurie and Amy were perfectly happy too, and probably better matched, and so what if his motivations initially were to be a part of their family?

  • Seriously, the entire movie made so much sense until that heart-breaking moment in which Jo and Laurie were paired off with other characters. I think Jo really did need to pursue her literary aspirations before she deciding upon marriage, but her thoughts were preoccupied with the whole fear of being tied down. And yes, Laurie needed time to grow. I like to believe that if Laurie was around when she broke her vow to be without a man, they would have both matured enough to love each other fully.

  • i always wanted jo to be with laurie. only if he'd have stood up with his decision she would have definately said "yes". its given in the book,u know.

  • Laurie would win in a battle against Edward Cullen!

  • @domiharrypotter

What's so great about pale faced, blood sucking Edward Cullen? He's not even worth mentioning.

  • Jo should have been with Lauie period I could never understand why L.M.A didn't pair them I heard her fans were pissed as was I when I read the book!

  • aww... I was already quite grown up when I first saw this film, but I cried like a teenager seeing it... my siblings and me would almost match the March sisters, if one wasn't a boy ;D me of course being jo, lol

  • i dont feel chemsitry with jo and bhaer but i just feel like jo and laurie are better as friends. i cant see her with either of them

  • Great job with the video!

  • I've ALWAYS felt that if Jo had only gave Laurie a chance she could have been VERY happy with him. They had the classic "best friends in love" thing going on, but I think the problem was that Jo just wasn't ready at the time to be with him and the whole idea scared her. I'm sure she'll be very happy with Mr. Bhaer too, but Laurie could have been IT for her. I also never believed it for a second that Amy was meant for Laurie, I think it was just a "last ones left" kind of thing...felt like it too

  • so beautiful!!! <3 The movie and the book are masterpieces! And the casting was perfect! I think Jo should have stayed with Laurie though... x'''{

  • I absolutely love what you've done here! I love the book and this song is one of my favourites and now I'm always reminded of this film when I hear it!

  • Have any of you read the book? If you read it, it will make you feel much better about Amy and Laurie. Even though I still think Jo should've just gotten with teddy after reading it, the book explains why laurie and amy ended up together. The movie contains only about a fourth of the actual story in the book. It's way better than the movie, and I LOVE the movie, so that's saying a lot.

  • could you maybe do a tribute to jo and friedrich? that would be wonderful!!! :-)

  • So true!!!!!!!I

  • lol. hahaha.

nah, i just like them because christian bale is hot and for that he should be with the lead character. lol

  • lol, whats that supposed to mean?

i like amy with laurie! i really really do!!!!

plus christian bale is really effing hot!

  • Bhaer isn't necessarily the WRONG man, but I agree that I would have been happy if he had never come into the picture and Jo had instead fallen for Laurie. I just feel like that Laurie and Jo were perfect for each other, and I'm not talking about superficial looks. I just feel that the best relationships are born out of friendship. Laurie and Jo just seemed so natural. And as if it weren't enough for them to NOT be together, Laurie and Amy marry instead. That was unnecessary and still annoys me.

  • I love Laurie and Jo together also, especially after seeing the movie. But reading the book again, Jo thought of Laurie as a brother. Could you marry someone you thought of like a brother?

  • yeah, i agree. i love jo and laurie's relationship, but it wasn't a romance. not on jo's part, at least. however, it was sad how he got rejected and stuff... i like to pretend the second part of little women doesn't exist- i didn't like it at all.

  • One of my fav coldplay songs it fits so well

  • i know we should get over it bcuz it jus a book, but.... I HATE THAT HE HAD TO MARRI AMY!!! HE SHOULD BENN WITH JO AND AMY WITH FRED. BUT NOOOOOOOO JO HAD TO BE STUPID AND SAY NO AND GO OFF WITH THAT REALLY UGLY OLD DUD:( DISGUSTED

  • Get over it people, this book was written even before our gray granparents were even born. I wanted Laurie and Jo together but hey it didn't happen.

  • Ohhh what a beautiful video!! Laurie is the cutest boy of the movies.....I love Christian Bale and this is one of the most adorable characters

Thanks to share this with us.

    Regards from Mexico

  • No wonder sibi fell in love with him..he´s beautiful and so shy...

  • Christian Bale's just into *older women* -- first Winona and then Sibi. =)

  • In the book, Laurie thinks:

"If I cant have one sister, I'll have the other"

Does that sound like love to you!?

Laurie LOVED Jo, and I know, if she tried a little, she would have as well. And its not just based on looks people, I read the book (s) before I watched the film, and both times I'd choose Laurie.

  • @GrayTigerProductions I READ THE BOOK TO i totally aggree laurie is hot :) even tho hes wayyyy older than me now and hes probanly not as attractive

  • @choclatelover15 He's still attractive ;)

  • @GrayTigerProductions I agree. I think Laurie was just so darn insecure after Jo rejected him, that he went to Amy because he already knew she had a crush on him. Grr! It makes me so mad. What was Alcott thinking when she wrote the book that way. :\

  • i wish i'd never bothered reading 'good wives' the sequel to "little women" , i was so desperate to know how things went on between jo and laurie , and the book got me so very depressed ... whatever made the author louisa may alcott finish off the book in such a horrid and haphazard way ! i hated her 4 it ! something was probably wrong with her state of mind while she wrote the second book.

  • ugh i hate it why did amy have to marry laurie jo was LAURIES MATCH!!!!! and isnt amy waaaaaaaaay younger than laurie?

  • "and isnt amy waaaaaaaaay younger than laurie?"

It may appear that way in the movie; but in the original story, not so much. The girls are introduced as being aged sixteen (Meg), fifteen (Jo), thirteen (Beth) and twelve (Amy). Re the Moffats' party, Meg implies Laurie is not a viable prospect (for herself) as he is younger than she; and if I recall, he is only a few months older than Jo. But I still agree that Jo and Laurie are better suited to one another.

  • look people-who you love isn't based on what they look like. im not saying that i don't judge based on looks sometimes. the fact is that jo LOVED the professor, something that she could not do with laurie. you love who you love..

  • It's so sad that your comment is being negatively viewed. I agree with you. Love is complicated. You can't explain it. Jo would have done everything to love Laurie. It was because of how much she loved him that she let him go. He deserved someone who loved him like a lover, not a friend, and Jo knew that, and she let him go. Sad, but truthful. :(

  • You should totally enter my Valentines Day contest!

  • We need to remember that Jo is based on Louisa May Alcott - she never married, thus she never wanted Jo to be married. It is a shame that LMA never married her "Laurie," but it is nice that she eventually gave in to the readers and gave Jo the professor.

  • Then as now, everyone loved the Jo/Laurie relationship, but Louisa wanted Jo to not marry anybody, but to remain independent.

  • I can appreciate that depiction of the strong, independent woman who doesn't need a man, but then why did she have to marry Bhaer? I mean, he's lovely, but Jo and Laurie just feel like they fit together better. At least that's how I felt after watching the film.

  • @beautifulporcelain From what I've heard, Louisa May Alcott initially wanted Jo to be alone but her readers protested and wanted Jo to have a romantic interest so she paired her with Mr. Bhaer. I suspect that her readers would have preferred Jo to be paired with Laurie, but Alcott was very resistant to the idea for whatever reason.

  • Jo and Laurie were meant to be together I think she was just too blind to see it. I would have defiently picked Laurie over the old guy. For one thing he is crazy about her and he's also gorgeous! Him and Amy didnt seem to click together....

  • I know, but in the book she goes into her reasons more. She knows they'll fight, and she never loved Laurie like that in the book.

It still sucks!!! I wish things were fairy tales.

  • That's one of the few things I disliked about the last film version -- in the book, Jo gives more reasons why they shouldn't be together, and the Laurie/Amy relationship is better developed, unlike in the film, where it seemed more like a marriage of convenience for them.

  • Jo should never have refused him...they were made for each other...i just can't believe she picked that old ugly guy instead of laurie!!!!

  • I absolutely adore this video! It reminds me of a time of terrible, yet magically wonderful things.

  • this is my favourite little women version -sigh- i love christian bale as laurie....i ave seen this film and read the books a hundred times and i still ask y!?! jo said no

    its just agh

  • I know they seemed so perfect for each other, you'd think maybe she'd give it more of a chance!

  • it breaks my heart every time.

  • A NICE VIDEO!! GREAT!!

  • I dont see why everyone wanted Laurie and jo to get together, she didnt love him like that and I think that she and the professor were great together, It wouldnt have worked out in the end anyway, they would fight all the time, anyway, loved the video, great job!

  • 4:15 Eww. That was a very beautiful movie, but ending sucked.

  • hah i always notice that too...

that scene still breaks my heart everytime

  • vbarney91....I second that!

  • christian bale ZOMG. =O

  • Whoever did this did a great job of editing... from the way this video looks, it would seem as if the two of them had a romance when they didn't!!!

  • i really wish laurie and jo ended up together. i think they could've worked things out...laurie would have matured with age, and jo would've been tamer. they could've based their relationship on the special bond they share. imo, deep friendship is far more important in a relationship than passion. i wish jo had given it a chance.

  • love the song and the pairing!!!

it's such a tragedy that jo and teddy don't end up together in the end. =(

  • I love the video! Sorry I forgot to mention it.. I kinda get passionate about this couple and defending them lol but I love it, I have watched it a billion times over

  • My honest opinion that Jo needed more worldly experience. However, the whole Amy/Laurie thing was bullshit. The only reason he went to her was because she was the last available daughter and he just wanted a family so badly. He even said he would be jealous of any of the girls' lovers. I think Laurie will and always love Jo but more than anything he just wanted to be apart of their family.

  • i agree

  • Thats just it. In the book he thinks:

"If I cant have one sister, I'll take the other"

  • how do u download clips from movies??

  • Laurie and Jo should have got together. They're so cute!

  • i think that Laurie and Jo never would have really worked no matter how hard they tried. I do feel sorry the Laurie got his heart broken but there wasn't to much he could do about it. Jo and the professor suit each other much better.

  • I agree! Laurie and Amy were perfect because she was a mix of what he wanted and what he didn't know he needed. Jo and Mr. Bhaer are perfect cause he can give Jo a levelheaded look to things, and he is much more romantic.

  • someone shud upload the whole movie ;]

  • Great vid blackorchid77

  • in my perfect world...laurie and jo would be together.

  • In my perfect world...Laurie and I would be together!! lol XD

  • Yeah! xD

  • Did you know,

The Author of Little Women , Lousia May Allcott (i think) rechived several letters while she was writing the book to have jo and laurie end up together yet she still didn't....

  • What took the sting out of them not ending up together for me, is the sequel 'Little Men' (book). Jo is grownup and runs a home for orphaned boys, and 'Uncle' Laurie visits and helps out. It's not as good a read for young women because it's mostly about little boys, but at least you know they stayed friends and were happy.

  • we had to read little women for our book report during our Christmas vacation.

Then when classes resumed many people in our class were all furious since jo and laurie didn't end up together. lol

  • I don't really agree with freakishhigh, b/c i think all throughout the movie u can tell Amy and Laurie love each other, but the age difference fools them into believing what they're feeling is deep friendship connection. but when the scene of them in the carriage happens, and he promises to kiss her before she dies, you can tell both of them are a little aware of what the feeling actually is.

In my opinion, the confusion of who loves who in the movie is really worth it for the fantastic ending.

  • i agree with B2590, a perfect way to ruin love, is to get married. I think staying friends with Jo was the better thing. whether or not Laurie liked it.

  • i get why jo and laurie's relationship wouldn't work but then i didn't want laurie to end up with whats-her-face (the youngest daughter)--mainly because i can't stand how pompous she is. and bale and ryder look good together (yes yes i am very superficial)

  • the youngest one is Amy

  • No,Amy and Laurie look more romantic and Mr.Bhear is handsome for Jo. Laurie is too boyish for her.

  • Good video! I must agree that Jo and Laurie seem perfect together. I truly believe there are some people that just seem meant to be together, but sometimes one (or maybe even both) of those people makes (or make) the wrong decision and they don't end up together. In a perfect world, Jo would have said yes to Laurie and they'd be married. But what's so riveting is that Little Women breaks all "prefect world" scenarios and hits close to real life. It's a work of art.

  • i agree. their relationship is rare and beautiful.sometimes marriage destroys that bond.their mariage would probably not be succesful because joe has a free spirit and whatever he believed laurie did not want that.i think that the most beautiful thing in the book is the fact that laurie and joe remain friends and not lovers.what they have goes beyond love and even friendship.the book is a a work of the highest quality of art

  • Jo, not Joe... Joe is short for Joseph, Jo is short for Josephine. at least that's my understanding. I am probably wrong lol.

  • Jo/Laurie OTP XD

  • i love laurie!!! joe fue una tonta al no aceptarlo, es tan lindo y adorable!!

  • Beautiful video. really good, but I think that Jo had always seen Laurie as a brother and you could tell she was really surprised and stressed out when Laurie proposed to her. And when he said, " you dont even have to write...." I was like "well there goes Jo" lol. they LOOK like a sweet couple, but their relationship would not have lasted very long....

  • Exactly. I totally agree. They're good as friends, but as she says, they wouldn't have made it as a married couple.

I always liked in the book how he ended up falling for Amy anyways. ;) That was cute.

  • I'm upset too...when I watched this film in TV, I am so mad at Jo for rejecting teddy they were perfect together!!!

  • I think they were perfect together to, but I don't think Jo was ready for marige and I believe that if Laurie had asked her again at the end of the film he probably would have received a different answer.

  • I agree...i wish he just waited for jo to love him back...but then that would be unfair for him...so i'll just stick with the original ending hahahahaha!!!

  • I agree completely. If only they had waited! If only they had matured a little more! If only Jo had made up her freakin' mind! Then we could all be happy and rest easily! But alas, poor Laurie, Jo just wasn't ready for the affections he had to offer. I would have GLADLY taken it up any day....

  • I agree also! he should have waited, but the author of little women (since she had a friend like laurie) said in her bio tht she would never make jo and laurie end up together. dunno why. good, but sad vid!

  • sorry to say this but jo is an idiot and amy is a bitch. amy should have rejected laurie; and i still don't see what is so great about the professor. was it that jo pitied him? was it his horrible accent? was he like a father figure to her? blah. so funny to find so many people still upset about this!

  • He was SO sweet and adorable! Who being in a sound mind could say no to him? Beautiful video. Beautiful song.

  • little women is the most beautiful and artfilled movie ever.... i love laurie and i cant stand that jo ended up with that old professor... but idont mind laurie with amy... its funny everyone thought i looke like kirsten dunst in this movie.. and my name is amy. and i love the name laurie.. or lawrence its my nephews name

  • I got so pissed reading the book.

Jo should have said yes to Laurie. There was so much chemistry between them. And Amy stole him away. e_e

And Jo ended up marrying that old guy

  • Aw, I love this version (although I was hesitant to see it, because I was so upset when Jo rejected Laurie in the book that I didn't think I would be able to handle it when Winona Ryder-my favorite actress-rejected Christian Bale-my favorite actor).

And the clips coupled with this music is gorgeous... great job! :)

  • aww they'd be such a great couple! I love Jo but I also hate her. I don't like this *oh we can't get along, we're too similar* stuff. It isn't convincing anyway. Just be straightforward and say "I don't love you." I feel so sorry for Laurie. I cried when I first read little women. (ok, I was only 11!;p)

  • I didn't find her excuse convincing either. It's such a cliche. I felt sorry for Laurie too, then Jo herself. Why larie! why Jo! Why must you break my heart like this!!!!???

Excellent video, beautiful, really beautiful. And heartrending.

  • It's not fair, Laurie still seemed in love with Jo when he tried to court Amy in the movie and she told him about the german professor. I didn't like Amy with Laurie, and Winona had so much chemistry with Christian

  • laurie and jo look nice together..but their relationship is more on the Brother-Sister stuff,

and Jo is the tomboy type of gal..so she wasn't very ready when when laurie askd her..[poor guy..they look very well togethr, rather i guess thatn with the Prof.

  • I think the book makes a great case for Laurie/Amy. Jo and Laurie are too similar. She always regarded him as a brother, and definitely wasn't grown up or in the right place when he pursued her. She wasn't ready for a relationship...and wasn't ready until the Professor came along.

  • Hey at least they've kissed !

    ~sighs~

isn't it a true story? i mean ur all like what was the auother thinking, but isnt the novel from her real life ?

  • Really so touching , Teddy and Jo are made to be together ! *being sad now*

  • GRRRRRRRR!!! Why oh why did they not end up together?!?!?!?! Like everyone I know who has read the book rooted so badly for Jo and Laurie? Please someone tell me why didn't the author make these two stay together? Urgh Something just does not feel right with Amy/Laurie! Jo and Laurie FOREVER!

  • Gosh! I have forgotten the details of this movie (seen it like what, 10 years ago?) and now I have to buy it (yes, BUY it) for my collection! Not sure if I like Amy-Laurie, but I definitely droll for Jo-Laurie!

  • the song is perfect for the video....

    thanks for uploading this one....

    lol

  • i like amy with laurie..shes fits in more with him than laurie and jo. but please dont kill me..lol

  • they should have been together!! it's sooooo unfair! let's kill amy!! the damn bitch ( but i still love her hihi )

  • we must hunt Amy down and kill her...slowly...

    lol, very nice vid!

  • Funny comment! But true!

  • I'm reading the book again and i'm still very mad that they didn't end up together!!! WHAT WAS THE AUTHOR THINKING?!?

  • I've worn out my video! I need to get it on DVD- I'm having withdrawal symptoms! Laurie and Jo should have been another Elizabeth and Darcy or Tess and Angel. I really can't imagine Amy and Teddy together "bashing around London". I think Laurie married Amy because she was the only March sister left and he couldn't get Jo and Amy married Laurie merely for his money ("I always knew I wouldn't marry a pauper") whereas Jo and Teddy would have had such fun!

  • I know I never got over that!! Amy the Gold digger!!

  • then obviously you never read the book !

  • I read the book when I was about 11 and unfortunately the film now sticks more in my head than the book!

  • hah i always dream they get married. then i wake up and yell at my book/ DAMN amy!

  • ohhhh too bad! I love the way christian acts in end he is aobut to cry huhuhuhu... christian come to mama huhuhuhu

  • laurie and jo seriously should have turned out together.

  • I think Amy and Laurie make a better couple, but I guess thats just my opinion...

  • jo and laurie, GOD, the best couple ever since elizabeth bennet and mr darcy

    they HAVE to be together

the other day i DREAMED they were getting married

    i love baher

    but, teddy, its teddy

  • love both of them. they should have ended up together. thanx for the vid. love the song.

  • they didn't end up together!!! that SUCKS!! it really SUCKS!! *sighs* oh well

  • i really wanted Jo and Laurie to end up together!!!

ahh this movie makes me cry everytime

  • I don't know if all of you need the movie for a you tube, but if you just wanna watch it, you guys can buy the vid at wal * mart for $5.00!! I just bought it on dvd cuz I only had vhs!! hehehe

  • haha I know what you mean! I'm also 'in desperate need of the movie'

  • hi, what i wondfull scene really,i've been trying desperatrely to get a hold of it to and the livejournnal thas not work for me so please can you send it to me too? sorry,i know it's verry selfish of me but plz i'm in desperete need of the movie i tink that u will anderstand!

  • heyy soo sorry still can't find it! the memories don't have little women at all. Do you think you could just download it and send it to my youtube email? sorry to trouble u!

  • Sorry, I would but it completely deteriorated my account on this computer last time, such glitch in the system or something, I'd rather wait and upload it to my laptop then send it on here

  • I went to livejournal but if I don't have an account, can I download little women? I went to 'iheartcinema' but I can't find little women there. PLUS all the stuff I found there I can't even download. pls tell me!

  • You'll need an account for the movie, and Little Women is listed under 'memories' or 'tag' section atop the iheartcinema community.

  • wow... that was great!! but do u think u could maybe upload the whole movie here... ive been trying desperatrely to get a hold of it but i cant and i m absolutely dying to see it... many thnx... :) u rock

  • Hey, unfortunately it's not on my computer anymore it was taking up a fair bit of space, HOWEVER lol if you have a livejournal, there is a community entitled "iheartcinema' and you can easily download the film, it doesn't even take that long which was suprising, so I hope that helps and sorry I can't upload it :(

  • Yay thanks! :)

  • great video, i love it :)
