  • this seems like a great way to get your core toned and strong I want to change my body not just lose weigth drop a dress size get skinny but really become a strong person inside and out and pilates sounds like the way I loe watching these very serene videos.

  • i need to try this. My posture is crap and I have a lower back injury due to short and weak muscles.Core muscles are ... bad and weak and hamstrings are too short. This should help me a lot.

  • Of course you can take it. You'll most likely loose weight from doing pilates too. Pilates and yoga are for everyone all shapes and sizes! The instructors have been doing pilates/yoga for years, thus resulting in slimming strong bodies.

  • No. When you go to the gym, they pull off your pants and look at the size. If it's over a size 4 they will kick you out of the gym and maybe even ban you from ever coming back. If you attempt to do pilates at home, you will be attacked by wild kangaroos.

  • Pilates is for everyone. You'll most likely loose a little weight as you tone up. But you'll look great :)

  • I took a Pilates class in HS and I remember losing the fat and gaining lots of muscle. It's really good for posture if its done correctly and it helps prevent injuries by making everything stronger and more stable.

  • Hi, do the pilates! I used to do a lot of dance and movement work... and then, over the years gained a lot of weight. I've been doing yoga and recently went back to pilates. It's been WONDERFUL.... pilates gives you a sense of elongation and abdominal control.... great posture, you'll feel better!

  • Anything can feel 'hard' at first..... it is because we are challenging ourselves to move outside of our perceived capabilities. I now see the asanas (the yoga exercises) as a meditation.... use your breath... work within your limits. you are not competing against anyone.... it is very rewarding.

  • try the circles with your knee slightly bent. you want to carve the cicle not with your foot, but using your femer bone to trace the circles. it will take some time to do the circle with you left fully extended.

  • Confused by the breathing. I learned is just the opposite of what has been shown here.

  • dont u feel that is too hard on your spine to be "rolling like a ball" on a yoga mat?? the pilates mat is cushier than a yoga mat...

  • They're both pretty much the same. I have a yoga mat and its real cushy. Ive never seen one that wasnt.

  • maybe u never seen a professional pilates mat to compare...my yoga mat is cushy and is a good one, but a yoga mat is not design to roll on the spine...doing exercizes like the jacknife, rolling like a ball, roll over, boomerang....and so on...because it can really damage your spine!

  • But there are very different types of yoga...and nowadays nobody does the ancient yoga...because our body can´t do that...sorry my english mistakes... ;)
