  • Pure Bluegrass at its best!!!!!!!!!! The Dillards were and still are a very good blue grassband!!!!!!!!!!! I love to watch them on tv, The Andy Griffith Show was and still is an icon and made everyone want to have and live in a town like they portrayed. A peaceful place where people actually cared for one another. who wouldn't want that. That is why it is still a hit today, for that reason!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Mulberry Squeezins.

  • barney getting it on!!! lol

  • I know a lot of Walkers but I wish I knew old Ebo.

  • The best music I've ever heard!

  • RIP Aug 2, 2010 Jayne, born1928 in Indiana and raised in northern Missouri, taught in one-room schoolhouses in Dent County, did the radio show "Hickory Holler Time" on Salem's KSMO for nine years, wrote several books, many songs and was highly regarded for his wit and ability to spin a tale. He and the other members of the Dillards were inducted in the International Bluegrass Music Association Hall of Fame in October 2009, honored for their enduring impact and contributions to bluegrass music.

  • My biggest complaint, you guys got me hooked on the Darlings!

  • IT WAS THE DILLIARD BOYS THAT DONE IT

  • gen-u-wine American music - posted on the 4th of July!!

  • go barney

  • Eeextry good! That was some mighty fine pickin' I'm here to tell ya!

  • I can hear ol' Ebo fiddlin' all a....round.

  • Fun!

  • anybody tell me how to play it

  • I love the Darlings (Dillards) this and Dooley are their best songs

  • The Darlings still tour. There real name is The Dillards, and the only reason I know is because they're from Missouri, like me. Dooley is the best.

  • Hey thanks Maybe they will come to Mulberry MT to the harvest fest!! that would be nice

  • Thanks for all the Andy & the Darlings videos!! Great music!

  • I always loved this show because it was in b/w, your imagination took you to a place far from what I deal with.....

  • Hey gang, come check out The Dillards official website and SAVE on our brand new "Homeland Security" t-shirt. In fact, all shirts are now just $15 through Christmas. Just Google "The Dillards official store"

  • I always loved it when the "Darlins" came to town......great music to follow....

  • Andy Griffith Show discussed in great new bio (All About Jeffrey Hunter) at amazon!

  • nickwalco, it was the late great Denver Pyle who later played Uncle Jesse on The Dukes of Hazzard.

  • whose the actor who counts?

  • Them corn' squeezins cure Barney's jitters real good!

  • If you'll remember from the show, they were mulberry squeezings!

  • It's just mulberry squeezins is all...lmao

  • Barney is hilarious in this.

  • 5 stars!

  • Incredible. Great quality. Thanks so much for uploading this.

  • Great old memories here. The Dillards, as a notably talented outfit & outstanding performing & recording band, were at their prime at this time, back then. Thank god - and thank you, MikeB43 - that we've got such enjoyable footage of them like this for posterity - and the rest of the gang on the AGS, of course. I can still .. but only just .. remember these episodes on TV from when I was knee-high to a grass-hopper.

  • That was Great,I love it all!

    Dillards,Andy,Charline!!!

  • Does anyone remember when the Dillards sang this on Don Knotts' 1971 variety show? The great opera singer and actress Mary Costa - the voice of Disney's Sleeping Beauty - joined them in singing it and did a great job of showing that she hadn't lost her Tennessee roots!

  • IS it possible to burn a cd of this song?

  • Great quality video. Great fun.

  • what did "r.f.d." stand for?

  • Rural Free Delivery.....The Post Office first experimented with the idea of rural mail delivery on October 1, 1891 to determine the viability of RFD. They began with five routes covering ten miles, 33 years after free delivery in cities had begun.

  • Rural Fire District

  • No, Rural Free Delivery.

  • I thought it was Rural farm delivery. lol

  • is it just me (and i don't mean to be disrespectful) or is charlene really hot?

she also makes me tear up a bit when she sings "there is a time"

  • I saw charlene about ten years ago...she was still a nice looking woman.

  • Nope...not just you. Can't explain what it is about her, but she IS hot :)

And I tear up at "There is a Time" as well, so don't feel alone

  • Charlene is one of those rare women who, even though she was very attractive here, just got better looking with age.

  • This episode was on tonight! Great stuff!

  • My favorite scene of all the Andy Griffith shows is that cut to Barney trying to snap his fingers while he's drunk on "mulberry squezins." Too funny!

  • We all prefer the black & white episodes but the color Mayberry episodes aren't crap.

They are still better than any current sitcom on TV.

Give me Mayberry RFD over According to Jim anyday!

  • I disagree, you can't beat the episodes in black & white. I refuse to watch the episodes in color. That, and Don Knotts leaving ruined the show.

  • I agree with you.

  • absolutely

  • The black and white Andy Griffith Show episodes are still as good as it gets on TV. Just classic. The color episodes are mostly crap, but the Don Knotts black and white era is timeless.

This is a great scene, too. Don Knotts and Denver Pyle are hilarious. Andy has that look in his eyes during the song by the Darlin's (a.k.a The Dillards), where you can tell he is genuinely in total admiration of truly gifted musicians.

  • yeah he definitly had that "fruit jar" look in his eye, I been known to go up in the hills and sip on a fruit jar or two....

  • This music will never get old!

  • That one makes me cry.

  • i love this band but barney ha ha ha. just dont get any beter

  • it just dont get no better

  • If you can find them there are two albums The Dillards have "Live Almost" And "Backporch Bluegrass" That are real classic treasures from 1962 they were on Electra records.

  • @kattsas

2 YEARS LATER TO COMMENT. I certainly remember the Dillard episodes. I also have both of those Electra LP S. Dooley was one of our standard numbers in our Bluegrass Band. I still enjoy doing it. Back in Montreal , all the Bluegrass fans could hardly wait to see the Dillards ( Darlings)when they appeared as guests.

  • 1:02-1:03 lol

  • Don't worry about Barney. The boys said it was just mulberry sqeezin's.

  • hell yeah, barney gettin' hammered! LMAO!

  • AHHH.

I really want to find a CD of them [:

    They rock:D

  • I went to Amazon and bought two CD's of The Dilards. They were not expensive at all.

  • more importantly, was that barney gettin hammered??!!

  • haha man barney gettin plastered is the best part of this clip. that face he makes...

  • this is the first time iv seen this one.i thought i had seen them all. was that the dillards as the darlings?

  • Yes the Dillards

  • i recently caught one where darlene was ken berry's girlfriend. probabbly just before it changed to mayberry r.f.d. don't know if she was a different character or still darlene though.
