How come when i blizzard my mobs seem to move quite a bit faster to me and there there before i can cast another frost nova?

@good6111 You need to be specced into Improved Blizzard 3/3. This slows them down to 50% speed. I know the nerfed this talent since I made this video (used to be 75%), but you should still be able to do it. Make sure you also spec points into shattered Barrier for that extra freeze.

My apologies to such a late reply but better than never right? lol. I recommend doing both grinding and questing, find some spots prime for AoE and hit those places to and from quests.

Addons I use currently (and love them all): Bartender, Bagnon, JPack, Sexymap, Gladius, and Gag.

yeah, you can AoE when you get your mount, but you'll have to stop in a few levels because your blizzard won't be able to do enough damage on stuff your level. Although one rule of AoEs is don't grind your level :P

first: u serioustly have lack of amg from ur blizzard for being in that lvl..

second: dont blink away, u just waste seconds they are frozen, and with those extra seconds u earn by just walking 5 yards u can add frostbite to ur specc tree. they get frozen 98% of the time

Sigh, you should have frostbite since when you gain levels you IB. so they will be come running´wherever they are. With frostbite they will all remain in one place. if not... well your ice barrier can take on a few lurkers. then it's just either FN again or spawn FE and FN. You should also have shatter and Ice shards since your blizzard crits ALL the time, so you find yourself wasting a lot less mana which equals in more aoe'ing. This was not the case pre wotlk I know but it is now. :-)

slightly different on a lock, u gotta wait til lvl 60 something when u get seed of corruption, u gather up mobs with ur minion, once u have enough, cast seed of corruption on 2 of them (make sure the are not the ones ur minion is physcally attacking) then use rain of fire on them, wat will happen is the rain of fire set off all seeds cause the seeds to explode and Aoe the mob

Another thing you did not mention.. ALWAYS try and have ice barrier on, this is survivalbility you will need when you aoe grind below 60.

Magearmour is a waste imo, you shouldnt have too much spirit on your mage and so not too much regen. Icearmour however slows your oppo's AND gives you extra armour which will make your barrier stronger. After my blink i usualy cast ice barrier before blizzard (if its broken).

I like to grind area style abit different.

- After you group the mobs dismount bij using acrane explosion and try spamming then 1 or 2 more times (this is good dmg too).

- Then hit the crowd with a cone of cold (why? If any mob might resist your nova he is still slowed decently giving you the time to cast your blizz.

- FROST NOVA duh, then blink then blizz like you do in the vid.

-When you casted 2 blizzard and the mobs are close again try another cone of cold (you slow them again + dmg).

i use this method alot but kinda figured it out myself but looked mup more vids to get better ideas. and now with the newest patch in wotlk blizzard does way more dmg. i did the same thing at ur lvl range (now i'm lvl 50) and blizzard does insane dmg and now crits constantly (for me anyways) and i hit 300+ crits with blizzard.

if u got frost armor, frostbite ...etc and some mobs is moving slowly and some is dmging u ...use ice block and w8 untill every mob start attacking u (while ur immune) ,frostnova and blink

Generally, when your gathering the mobs you want to ice block once you gather up everything (unlike I did). Then you will be affected by hypothermia and wont be able to IB again for 30 seconds (assuming you cold snap). Yes, you can talent Frostbite and at higher levels it doesn't matter as much, but for this lvl (40) I found it more useful to skip that talent.

mages are a hard class to play since the are very fragile. If you get it right and get the right rings and necks and stuff you can get heaps of mana and then you can be unstoppable.

Overall, no I still recommend questing over AOE grinding. However, it is definitely worth doing on your way to and from quests. Esp since you get a quests worth of XP each pull.

Yes, I generally use frost armor. At that level tho, my mana pool was so low that I needed mage armor for the mana regen. Also, the improved blizzard slows the mobs down by 75% anyway so it didn't matter.

As far as dampen magic is concerned, not really a need for it since none of the mobs were casters.  But yeah, like I said in the vid...forgot my buffs anyway lol.

In most quests you have to kill some kind of monster or loot something from them. This is a GREAT way to complete those kind of quests in a fast way. Also, 1mob/200xp, that's 2k xp each pull (at lvl 30). Fast leveling!

I wouldn't. Respawns take awhile, I would either see if there is another spot nearby to do another pull, or continue questing. I don't recommend strictly doing AoE to lvl, do it on your way to do quests.

If you have a good leveling guide thats working by all means use it. Questing is overall the best way to get XP (and less boring too heh). Really, I don't level strictly using AoE, it was more of a "on my way to do something" kinda thing. Doesn't take very long and 1 pull gives you about a quest turn-ins worth of XP (in outland).

I'm not sure of your level exactly but if your low 60s theres some good buzzard spots by Falcon Watch in Hellfire.

The technique in this video is extremely helpful for buzzing down quests that require you to kill X number of (this monster) or collect X number of (this item which is dropped by this monster). Just clear yourself some space around an area where a large number of mobs are at, then perform the drill in this video to collect all the target mobs and buzz em down! People seeing this in action give their oohs and ahhs. One must be careful of mobs that stun or knock you off your mount, though.

I guess theoretically you could. You MUST have Improved Blizzard on the frost tree tho so you need to put points up to there. It slows their speed down by 65% and if you don't have that, your Frost Nova cool-down will not be ready by the time the mobs are back on you (otherwise it doesn't slow down the mobs at all). Plus it will cost you quite a bit more mana if you don't have the "Frost Channel" talent.

Totally agree with the Ice Block. I was still kinda working out the kinks and generally use Ice Block nowadays. Most everything else I do the same. And yes I am a retard for forgetting the buffs lol... The song...picked cause it just seemed to fit
