  • Thanks this was actually really helpful :D

  • What song is that you recorded I want to buy one?

  • Yes, you have to use any uncompressed format like Wav to burn a CD

  • wait if i need have a usb turntable do i still need records ? or can i just use a laptop or ipod ?? pleas reply

  • I understand that using Audacity is good for cross platforms, i.e: Windows and OSX. But since you're on a Mac, why not just use Garage Band? It has tons of options Audacity doesn't have and easier to use.

  • I didnt know how to record my vinyl with Audacity and this video guided me all the way. Thanks for posting this video now I have been recording my vinyl to digital thanks.

  • Yes, I downloaded Lame. I am now able to use Audacity quite well! I was able to use the turntable successfully, but have to redo some of the recordings that I first downloaded. Thanks so much for your help and for the reply.

  • When have my USB Turntable plugged in, I can't hear any other sounds coming from my computer. Also, how can I listen to the record even when its not being recorded?

  • This was good and taught me quite a lot, but I am still unable to save as mp3. Maybe it's because I have a pc. Thanks for a good lesson, though.

  • @photoelectra

Have you download the lame mp3 encoder yet?

  • @photoelectra I believe you have to download the "LAME" plug in for the PC in order to save as an MP3. You're better off saving as a WAV file because MP3's compress the audio resulting in losing quality, UNLESS you save at a bit rate of 320 or higher.

  • macs suck balls.

  • @LeaderOfKGB Each to their own, eh? Don't be so dismissive of Macs. Its a bit like comparing similar cars. Some are great at some things, some are better at others. I am lucky to have both Mac and PC for this very reason.

  • @Decodermusic macs still suck and pcs are better. Macs are way over priced

  • @LeaderOfKGB I see......your mum is called "macs", right?

  • @photofx wtf?

  • @photofx you mother must be called "macs"; & according to your definiton, she sucks H A R D :-))

  • @LeaderOfKGB just because you prefer another type doesnt make your comment fact dude

  • @wertyuioman Macs still suck balls

  • Can I listen to the vinyl record without recording it from my pc speakers?

  • @Orfeas91 yes if you use the ez vinyl converter that comes with the ion turntable anf dont press record and it will still play it

  • @Orfeas91 (I have one) Yes, yes you can hook it up to a stereo.

  • @Orfeas91 i have a much better usb turn table and will be doing a video on it, yes you can just jam to a record without having to upload it or record it, depending on the device you have! I'm listening to elvis' first album right now.

  • ok can i listen to the whole album via the laptop speakers without try to convert the songs to mp3s?

  • is this turntable only designed to convert vinyl to mp3? all i read in reviews is how it does that. All I care about is if it just plays normal vinyl? I don't care about converting it to mp3...i would just use a torrent to do that. Can anybody tell me, once I buy it, can i just stick a vinyl on it and play through the built on speakers? Do I have to plug it into my laptop to play it? That would be rather shit.

  • Was that Miles Davis???

    :D

  • Im having an issue getting my computer to recocnize the turntable. Im running Vista 64bit, installed the cd rom that came with it but it seems to be an installation of "EZ Audio Creator" and not a "driver". I followed all the steps but even connected, the computer still say "device is NOT connected". Its real confusing.

  • WTF 128kb/s? it is just wrong...

  • @necrocoprophilia: There is a cheat that CoolClem discovered...use Media Player Classic to just play the turntable through the computer speakers (one of his videos demonstrates this).

  • does this hae phono

  • YEAH LETS BURN MP3's of VINYL TO CD. MP3's TO CD!!!

  • @sworder24 Love the sarcasm.

  • Brilliant thanks

  • Thanks for the information.

  • anyone know the name of the song in the beginning?

  • @yagaaa round midnight by miles davis brotha

  • Would saving them as a FLAC file keep the sound quality better than saving them as an MP3 since it's lossless audio? I'm new to all this stuff so don't make fun of me if that's a dumb question, lol.

  • @SushiGradeNarwhal not a dumb question, thats actually correct, though my answer is probably a little late

  • this isn't for beginner is it???????????

  • if only all tutorials were like this

  • I stopped as soon as I heard the out of breath fat pedifile breath/voice I hope that is not wat u sound like in real life

  • @NightPrLover

You're sick. You need to see a Doctorquick. GTHOOH

  • I see that the turntable your using, a ION ITTUSB, does not have a dustcover.

How do you avoid the turntable to collect dust?

How do you store the turntable when you are not using it?

  • @Kingpinmaster1966 There is an available dust cover for this apparatus.

  • im new to djing, while using the usb turntbable to the computer, can you play mp3 files that were bought lets say trhrough itunes on that turntable? or can you only play that vinyl

  • Ok I have a question...is it a laser turntable or it uses an ordinary stylus?? ....cuz if it ain't laser, what is the point of that usb connection??.. I kind of do the same analog to digital recording with my 1972 "Resprom GES 321" via the STEREO LINE OUT and it sounds great!! Is It a matter of low noise and distortion or something?

  • @GeorgiMl a lazer turntable? isnt that called a cd player?

  • @RussianThickness1 No. There are some turntables that use lazer instead of a needle to play vinyl records. I don't know what´s being used here though.

  • @Koindrank The turntable you are seeing uses a needle or as I like to call it a "stylus." Laser turntables are extremely rare and expensive. The Smithsonian uses one to archive their precious recordings, especially old nearly rotten wax cylinders that would be destroyed if played with a conventional stylus.

  • Please show how to hook up the turntable to the computer because the USB codec doesn't show up in my Audacity...

  • thank u so much

  • Thanks very much. Helped me a lot!

  • This is no use if you are using Vista. I have Audacity 1.2.6 which is the newest version. What version are you using here? Looks totally different to the version I am using.

  • @tog77: What's seen here is the Mac version of Audacity (the demostration was done on an iMac).

  • Okay this may be a stupid question but am interested in getting one of these and feel I should ask,

Can I just play the LP though my computor without having to record it or convert to MP3.

  • Thanks awsome

  • why cant i heard the music on my computer? as it plays on the record player?

  • Thanks!

I might buy a USB Turntable!

  • Yikes those waveforms of your example tracks seem to clip a lot.

  • @cristyeffect #GOOGLE Numark DJ In A Box v.7 Turntables + Mixer Package it's the perfect cheap dj KIT it has everything you need to start, but i personaly think that a pair of TT's is going to be better

  • heeey..

got a question for you or anyone that can help...?? with a USB turntable, can you scratch MP3s..??? Because I really want 2 turntables with a mixer but only hav limited vinyls and millions of MP3's so I wanna do more MP3 scratching.. CAN USB TURNTABLES SCRATCH MP3's..? OR can you only do it with the JOG wheels on a mixer..???

    HELP ME PLEASE...?!! :)

    Thank you..

    James

  • @jam13es I am interested too. With two pairs of turntables and one mixer, we can scratch ? :D it will be awesome.

  • Respond to this video...

Yes, you can scratch vynils, but can't scratch mp3s

  • @shigalbigal oh, i understand. I think it works with timecoded vinyls.

  • @cristyeffect

well yeah it will probably work, but it's not necessary Numark TT will be perfect from newbies to pros, but keep in mind that numark tt-xxx series have motor circuits that overheat verry easy and start sending bad signals to the motor

  • @shigalbigal Hmm...Direct drive turntable or belt drive ? Because i don't remember.

  • @cristyeffect

belt drive with an adjustable anti-skating control

  • @jam13es

No, you can't scratch mp3's on turntables made for vynil there are special turntables that you can't play vynil records on, but can scratch mp3's

  • Great video. Thanks a lot! Spent a lot of time looking for a good tutorial.

  • soothing voice =)

  • It's best to export to .wav file. That is the highest quality, and can also be converted to an mp3 later. If you really want mp3, the best quality sample rate for your buck is 192kbps. After 192, the quality increases at a decreasing rate. 128k is a standard from about 5 years ago. Hard drive space is relatively inexpensive now.

  • Don't export as an MP3, if you're goal is to put it on CD. Better to export it to uncompressed AIFF.

MP3s use LOSSY compression, so basically by saving it as an MP3 and then burning it to an audio CD, you're throwing away all that sound for nothing.

  • @sneskid

If you're transferring analog to digital then most likely you want the files for portable use because no one walks around with cd players anymore.

  • @noodleninjaa

That depends on what you're trying to do. But in the video, he said to export it to an mp3 if you wanted to put it onto an iPod OR a cd. In this case, you're better to export it twice - once as a 16-bit 44.1kHz non-compressed file for the cd, and then again as whatever format you use on your portable player. If it is mp3 that you use on the player, at least choose a higher bitrate than 128kbps.

  • @Trailblaz7 same! :L

  • does the ion turntable suck that bad

  • Yup. Any USB turntable sucks, when it comes to sound quality.

  • algun video pero en español..

  • Why do you talk like that? it does not make you sound cool...

  • isnt it a computer program?

  • yes it is :p

  • What is the point of a USB turntable, sound cards have aux inputs guys.

  • Many standard (older) turn tables don't have the line level out for the sound cards AUX IN, so you need a phone pre-amp, about $40. A cheaper way, run the table through an existing stereo, use the tape out. Never use the sound cards mic input. The USB is convenient, direct & works with software for queuing. The analog to sound card a little more messy. Many people don't own a turn table any more, so why not buy one with a USB and analog outs. You can buy an analog to digital converter also.

  • Because it probably has a crap cartridge and head?

  • I answered your question USB or S/PDIF is easier. What are you talking about? My point using ANALOG into sound card can introduce noise (regardless of cartage). Do research. You can reduce this with a high quality PCI sound card. Most computers have a built in or cheap sound cards. That's the issue.

Sub $100 USB turn tables are cheaply made, belt drive, lousy tone arm. What ever you do stay away from the ceramic cartrige. I have my 1980's direct drive TEC, high end cartridge, good sound card

  • I also use a tube phone preamp between the turn table and computer. This adds a nice tube quality. Bottom line you don't NEED a USB turntable, but you do have to do more things to properly connect an analog turntable to a computer and MANY people have background noise issues (intruduced by the sound cards lack of shielding).

You can buy a stand alone Digital to Analog convert and turn any turntable into a "USB turn table".

  • You can use an old amplifier... .. old record players are muuuuuuuuch better than this plastic garbage!

  • They made good and crap back in the day. I would say a good quality turn table (even if it had plastic parts) with a good cartridge is going to be better than a $100 usb turn table. You can by a analog to digital converter, try or try to record direct to the sound card. As I was saying to the "expert" above, some computer/sound card combos sound like crap when you try to record, adding power supply, RF noise and digital artifacts.

  • Sales.......... commercie... money.. that's the use for that boys..

  • THANKS MATE.. WELL NEEDED!!!!!!!

  • Thanks for your help, i really appreciate the time & effort of your posts

  • I followed ur steps but my table isnt spinning

  • Did you put the drive belt around the motor spindle? A lot of people overlook that, and the turntable isn't going anywhere without it.
