Have you done any boarding, skimming or perhaps both on the room, or ran them as you received the room in a finished state? Just wondering, keep it up mate!!!Cheers Ste
@stephace33 the ceiling was done by my mate as i was busy. he had to make sure that the ceiling was flat. if you look closely at one of the long lengths you can see where the ceiling is slightly out. the bay window also had to have some attention when we fixed the bench rub cornice. colin
Hey colin it's Breconmafia, thanks for getting back to me! i did alright in the end, mixed up some lime putty and left it over night in water, then made the horse with muffle out of zinc , ran the first coats in bonding plaster (don't know if this is right but it bloody stuck like shit and worked) damped it down next day and ran coats with half lime putty and half casting plaster, then finished off with a really wet pure casting plaster coat , it came up lovely (it was only one wall)
@almoiste all mitres are done by hand. using the large joint rule to start with. make sure you mark your top and bottom ariseses so they will guide you. just take your time. these mitres took approx 1 hour each.the externals around the chimney breast are run on the bench and fixed these can be cut tighter to the run cornice. with all your mitres get the basic shape and then start finishing to get a good finish. hope this helps.
spicy chicken? korma is not a curry! lol anyhow , i like the video - i'm a plasterer and have told this guy i can run all his cornice in situ , not done it before but am confident i can do it , any instructions that you know of on how to make a running horse on the web? you know with the zinc and muffle etc? thanks , ED
@breconmafia best thing to do is ring me on 07905292784 colin. the trickiest thing is pricing. remember the mitres will take you approx 1.5 hours each. the job we are doing in the video took approx 6 days including taking the squeeze and horsing the mould up.
Amazing. Love the plaster. Can you still buy those sliding things to make moldings???
