  • Heinberg's information is critical but often critized by those who deny such evidence......because much of this information has been used by those in power to convince us of a NWO.........but not all who uncover such evidence have this intent......they simply want to a avoid a catastrophic collapse of society and our environment..........as a result of the political and/or regilious adversion by those in power I have no confidence that humans will resolve this problem until it is too late....

  • Its time to adopt an evidence based belief system....the choices we make are based on what we believe and choices always have CONSEQUENCES. Accordingly, we need to base our beliefs on the best evidence possible.....In the REAL WORLD "things that cannot go on forever generally don't"

Or...when you run out of gas just pray for a full tank; when in a drought pray for rain, when starving pray for food...works every time eh?

  • His anti-nuclear arguments sounded stupid. Criticizing nuclear for the fact that building it causes CO2 emissions? WTF? Building wind turbines, solar panels or whatever causes CO2 emissions in just the same way!

But about peak oil he is spot on. Very prescient. I completely agree with economist Jeff Rubin that peak oil is the underlying cause of the current depression.

  • what about population reduction would that help.

  • This message is crucial. Unfortunately, I think it's hard for people to imagine a world without mega malls, big screen TVs, fast food, and fast cars. Daniel Quinn talks about how people need a new vision, something to work towards. I think a re-localized, sustainable way of living is not only necessary, but would ultimately be much more fulfilling than this consumerist driven lifestyle we have now.

  • @xs0heavenly I think we are a virus on this earth that never stops consuming and consuming until there is nothing left as Agent Smith has said in the Matrix. The only cure is for us to evolve. Genetic engineering has potential to give birth to a new breed of humans who can control their impulses and see the big picture. We homo sapiens have failed. Now let's make way for the new breed to take over. I'm just messing around. I doubt we will be able to create new replacements for us in time

  • The crucial question. Why aren't people like Richard Heinberg present in global political parties? Especially China, US, India, Europe where most of the energy use/pollution is and will take place. It boggles the mind why 6 billion people cannot muster a group of individuals that can transform logical facts/trends into effective policy making.

It's all exceptionally demoralising, and we have no excuse

  • @makinuangry

The answer is linked to the fact that this video does not have 5k views and lady gaga videos have over 20 millions views....people only like to hear about bad news when it doesnt concern them personnally.

  • Amazing, this was recorded in 2003 and nothing has been done.

Unless you count the crumbling of the financial system, the ramped up poisoning of the worlds water from fracking and the tar sands, mountain top removal, the poisoning of the Gulf of Mexico and the continued wars abroad to maintain control of the oil we need for our "Non negotiable" lifestyle. Enjoy this Thanksgiving it might be your last...

  • The summer of 2008 is a warning ! You remember the price for a barrel of Oil ?! Why wait for another Oil crisis ?!!

  • Hey! This man predicted the 2003 blackout in the northeastern U.S. more than a month ahead of time (~38:30 onward). Prescient.

    Great discussion.
