Anyone know the difference between a "dad" and a "father ?" Any man can offer sperm and with conception, by definition, he is now a "father ".Sportically seeing the child off and on through the years. I reached 49 years of age before my father accepted me enough to allow me to spend time with him on a regular basis. He now looks forward to it, but growing up, I was nothing like him nor any other kid he knew. I'm still 'out there' but he does accept more of me than any time growing up.

My dad died when i was 6, and now I'm 19. I think of him almost everyday, and hearing this song makes me feel so emotional because I barely knew him. Even my cousins tell me that they wish that I got to know him more. From what I remember he was one of the most loving and self-less people I know. If that experience has taught my anything, it's that you should never take anything in life for granted. When I'm a father I want to be the same way I remember my father.

He'd been dead seven fucking years before she finally told me he was gone and I could quit looking for him and she KNEW it all along. @deafsubtitles Thanks for taking the time to respond and give advice. But in all sincerity, it has never been an anchor on my neck as I do not hate them at all. I just think their religion made them intellectually lazy and very ignorant. I have no plans to reconnect with my mom and have no regrets about never seeking my dad's forgiveness. His death meant no more to me than strangers that die every day. The same with my mom. I felt liberated the day I disowned them, not bitter.

Jesus said: "I am the way, the truth, and the life: (John 14:6). Salvation's a gift, accept it. "For by grace are ye saved through faith...it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9)
Just ask Jesus to forgive all of your sins, stop sinning, and make Him your Saviour and Lord.

@mikesmith007x Sadly, there are those who call themselves Christian behave in a total opposite way that God demands. I DO NOT BLAME YOU for the anger and hate.
BUT it is time to forgive him and move on, if you do not, he'll be an anchor around your neck. Tell your Mom you forgive her, then just walk away free.
You may not FEEL the forgiveness in your heart right away, that's ok, but repeat it so it becomes real in your heart. BE FREE.

@deafsubtitles Thanks for taking the time to respond and give advice. But in all sincerity, it has never been an anchor on my neck as I do not hate them at all. I just think their religion made them intellectually lazy and very ignorant. I have no plans to reconnect with my mom and have no regrets about never seeking my dad's forgiveness. His death meant no more to me than strangers that die every day. The same with my mom. I felt liberated the day I disowned them, not bitter.
