No offense but you look alot younger without the locs! I have locs myself and love locs, but i must admit, removing the locs gave you a more youthful look. Either way, i hope you're enjoy your hair! :)
@Tay0307 - no offense taken! i am actually flattered. thanks! i am enjoying the youthful look and find that taking my locs down has helped me gain a new found interest in taking good care of myself inside and out. thanks for watching!
@abbeymore1 - Well I don't think of it as "losing", I think of it as ten years of shedding happening at once. It's also important to note that I cut off quite a bit before I started taking them down.
@TwistedNaturally - i am really happy with the loose hair. there are frustrating moments when i cant believe how short my hair is now, but i dont miss my locs at all. i cant believe i had them for ten years!
Looks cute! A friend of mine has locs (she's only had them for a little over 3 years) & she desperately wants her loose hair back but she is dreading the big chop. I told her to watch your videos, that she can save a lot of length. Now that you have loose hair, looking back, is there anything that you would have done differently when you took out your locs? Thanks in advance! :-)
@TwistedNaturally - good luck to your friend! the only thing i would do differently is use a rattail comb and maybe go a little slower. but in all honesty i don't regret anything. i just wanted enough hair to "work" with. if i am doing the right things my loose hair will grow in time.
@olamina--Thanks for the reply & tip! I am helping her with the takedown & I'm hoping that since it's only been 3 years it won't be so bad but she has thick or "wide looking" locs not the slim-looking ones you have. She did them herself & they were done in more larger sections than yours, resulting in the "wider-looking" locs so I don't know how it will go.
@TwistedNaturally - thicker/younger locs should fare MUCH better. i had very thin locs in the front and crown of my head and some of them just had to get snipped off. :(
@olamina--I hope we can save a lot of her hair, the locs just brush the tops of her shoulders but she hadn't twisted them in about 6-8 months because she was just going to cut them so she was trying to get as much new unloc'd hair as possible but I think that created a bit of a problem because at the root some of the hair looks badly tangled or matted.
@TwistedNaturally - well be careful when you get to the point where the loc'd hair meets the loose hair. you can surely get breakage there, especially at the temples. just take it slow and easy. use water and conditioner to soften and be patient!
@olamina--So you recommend wetting the hair? My friend was thinking of using only conditioner to soften the locs, thinking water would make the loc hair matt together more than ever. You've given us both something to think about. Thanks for the tips!!!
@dragonflames555 - By all means, enjoy your locs as much as possible for as long as possible, but if/when you are looking to take them down, I am glad to be of help. If you go back to some of my old videos, I have some loc tutorials too!
Beautiful locs! Also love the after locs look. well done.

You lost a lot of hair, but it's still great to know that one doesn't have to cut the locs off in order to get rid of locs.
