You kind of drenched the vocals in reverb. Sometimes that can be cool, but most of the time it comes off as distracting and amateur. But great idea for a video.
I have one complaint, the thing with the panning from left to right during the first video section, DON"T DO THAT, it is annoying. Thats it .. carry on.
Very nice vid. I am currently have a VS 1824 that is unable to burn CDs. So right now I am transferring all my audio data from VS 1824 to Adobe audition . Any suggestions?
Nice video. Always good to see people sharing their tips on recording for youtube. I assume you did the vocals earlier and then just mimed for the actual video? Great voice by the way. Reminds me a lot of Matt Munro and that's meant as a big complement by the way :)
I like your song and the way you work. How you recording the mic while the music was playing behind? How did the mic not capature the arrangement sound? Thanks beforehand
did u mime the vocal?i wonder cos theres no headphones used?and when doing anything with a mic and speakers its better to use cans...no spill etc...fairly good post tho :-)ur a good singer..and the end crescendo was midi-tastic!
I liked what you had to say, very infomative, especially about not spending a fortune on equipment. There is a lot of good equipment on the market at the moment to suit all budgets. I had an old Fostex 250 for about 15 years, it served me very well. your demos sounded good too. well done
Hey Braxis2, thanks for the posting. This is the exact kind of thing that makes YouTube so world changing and special. If I were to include one critique, wish yoou showed yourself playing every single track with editing so that by the time the song was done playing one would have seen every single step of the recording process. When you switched to yourself playing the guitar solo, you were on the right track.
I was fascinated running through your videos. Something that I have been trying to pull off for ages. My problem is poor condenser Mike and decent effects. Well done for sharing these tips.
You forgot to tell the folks how you can use the vocal harmonizer which will take your original sounding voice and make you sound like the star. Not something I recomend tho.
Not everyone is suppose to sound like Gene or Barbara
dude, you are soooo ... what's your bio? How did you discover these home studio recording techniques? You have a great voice ... is that really you or an original Gene Pitney recording? I've looked for this tune forever and you are dead on. Wow.
Hey, thanks. I was going to recommend this melody to a sax player I know, so I typed in the title and there you were. This melody is hauntingly brilliant. Do you live in L.A.?
Thank you, Thank you so much. Very interesting and you simplified it so dummies like me can understand. Also, you did a wonderful job on the Pitney tune. Not an easy song to do. Look forward to future videos.
This is pretty good concidering the equiptment you were using. There is only one problem. You should really purchase a pop filter. Your "plosives" were coming out in your final record.

That sounds exactly like Gene Pitney. Can you do Bing Crosby?

Only Bing can sing Bing, it's his thing...

No that is definitely NOT Gene Pitney. It's me singing, playing the instruments, and working out the arrangement. I'm glad you like it.
