I've got HKS on mine and it doesn't sound like this, but mines stock from cats to motor. These sound a little throatier like a boat motor. I've also got some resonators or something after the cats, so I dunno. It has a unique sound anyway, maybe patent it and sell them.

The second exhaust in the video (if you watched that far) is the one that was on it last. Now it has a full Specialty Z exhaust from the SPZ Super Split downpipes back.

Regardless of sound, it's a safe bet that the Flowmasters you took off outperformed your new ones. I have access to a flowbench and the results don't lie: Glasspacks can't touch Flowmaster, especially if they're cheaply made. A stock muffler will nearly always outperform a $40 off-the-shelf glasspack. (I'm not trying to accuse yours of being cheap, just making a statement).

But you are right, Flowmasters do not sound good on a Z at all, or most 6 cylinders that I've heard for that matter.

Close. The Flowmaster series I had were not meant for a turbo setup. They were not flow through design and were causing an excess amount of back pressure. The HKS exhaust that this one is roughly designed after is the best flowing 2.5" exhaust for the Z32. That's compared to other exhaust on the same flow bench.A lot of people just don't like the looks. But I promise when I switched just the mufflers alone, you could tell a HUGE difference. The Flowmasters felt like socks were in the exhaust lol

They dont seem to hold higher than stock boost well. Mine made this annoying squealing sound when I set it to high boost (15 psi). Turns out the recirc valves werent holding shut, replaced them with 2 BoVs, problem solved.

Any decent 2.5in setup is best for an N/A. Too small and wont flow well, too wide and it'll flow too well, losing back pressure.

Turbo is a different story, the more it flows the better, thats it.

Great! It just doesn't feel natural to go around a curve when you aren't used to how the hicas setup feels. Even after you get used to it, it still doesn't feel even close to being right. It just feels a LOT more solid, thats the only way to describle it. When you lose traction is a lot more predictable as well.

I have a 96 TT w/ JWT ECU/POP charger. I found a guy that can run 3" from the DP back, but i think thats straight pipes, w/ no resonators or H-pipe section. should i have him weld in resonators and an H section or should i just buy like megan DP/TP and do the 2.5 back from there? i really wanted a 3" exhaust but SZ costs WAAAAAYYY too much. Mine is a very simple 2.5" exhaust from the downpipe back with an H_pipe welded in were the exhaust are the closest to each other. Either way you go I would definitely suggest an H or X pipe to balance out your exhaust pressure which will compliment how the intake is balanced keeping both turbos spinning as closely as possible.

As of right now I have three of them. 1 TT you see in the vids, one NA thats being rebuilt and another NA for parts. Fun little cars. I am also a pretty big flat 4 fan. A buddy of mine has owned a few. He had a bug eye STI and then he got one of the newer ones the day they hit the lot then sheared an axle at the track right after he broke the motor in. Very nice cars none the less.

I am ALL for Labree-Seabring exhaust. It honestly looks better, and flows better to me... but what do I know, I am ripping out my VG30DE and putting in a VH45DE. Heads come off this weekend, and the chainguides go on. Hopefully next few weeks I will get the heads off to get ported, polished, and a multi angle done and I will be flowing MUCH better.

I got a good deal on the car for $7,500 with 80k miles, just had a crate motor installed but had a bad trans. Had a clean title with no wrecks. After the new trans and huge mods my wife totaled it up to around $24k counting the cost of the car. Sadly it still has stock turbos, injectors and intercoolers. The motor is coming out late Nov for the twin GT28R install as well as cleaning up the motor a bit. Possibly some cams and MS manifolds if I run across any in the next month or so.

I got my 90 TT for 5500. It had some problems, I am in the middle of a rebuild. It is definitely worth it. Z32 TT's are incredible when they drive right. They are expensive to do up and get running nice, but once they are, it is unbelievable.

haha... man are you serious? They are spinning the right way with 0 compressor surge. Thats why I have my BOVs set as low as possible, to eliminate any and all surge and it works flawlessly. It also boosts perfect. -20 to +13-16 in an instant. I don't know where you learned about turbos or what they sound like, but you need to go back and kick them in the balls lol

Gas mileage = teh suck. Money wise, everything on the car is brand new. Crate motor, stock 5-speed turbos, and crate 5-speed installed in 04 which was a good chunk of change. Rebuilt rearend, new driveshaft ect on the drive train. The rest is listed in the description of this video.

Also as far as price goes.. a lot on the after market stuff. I love all cars including mustangs, camaros, vettes, ect and its a LOT cheaper to make them go as fast or faster. I simply chose this car because I have loved it since the first day I saw on in the early 90s and the fact that you DO NOT pass a Z32 every 10 seconds on the road. But yeah, its worth it for the driver experience period =)

The entire exhaust is custom from the downpipes back. I used aftermarket 2.5" mandrel test pipes and welded an H-pipe connection in between the two at the closest point. I had already drawn the plans for the rest of it from there back so we just took our time at the machine shop and welded it together. The mufflers are from ebay, $60 bucks shipped for the set. I am getting ready to switch to a larger set soon though.
