  • whats he doing trying to fluf the carpet up?

  • This isnt cute. Greyhounds lack padding and need soft places to lay. Give the poor dog a bed so he can lay down and be in your company. Is instigating obsessive compulsive behaviour, cute? How comfortable would you be sitting there watching tv without any couch? Please please stop laughing at his agitation and discomfort and just give your poor dog another place to lay.

  • @ninshubur69

Thanks your concern. It's makes me happy to see that people care about the needs of greyhounds.

Our whole house is carpeted for their safety as well. What was lacking from my description is, in this video, Curt just got up from his bed that was not even a foot away, and started scratching the carpet. He had 8 BIG beds in the whole house in every room and hallway, and another in the bedroom. No worries. :-)

  • Ours has a bed in the living room.

  • They really are comfort monsters grey's, mine does this when his bed is in the wash, and then looks at me and makes me feel guilty! Nothing like a comfy bed - and your grey is just gorgeous!

  • soooo cute!!! 8]]]

  • I had a (mostly) greyhound who trashed my carpets but I loved him dearly and miss him as much now as a year ago. Greyhounds rule.

  • The ancient canine had to scrape up hard ground, dig sleeping dens for safety and kill bugs in order to make a spot to sleep. This "hard wired" behavior remains instinctive in your dog and is a reason why they turn in circles, scratch the carpet and rumple up blankets before lying down. i.e. It's quite likely that they don't even know why they're doing it - it's just instinct.

  • Our IGs do this too, although I scold them for scratching the carpet, they will completely flip and drag their beds all over the room the same way....funny!

  • This is a trait with all greyhound breeds. I've had a greyhound, whippets for years and now have an italian greyhound, they all make a big deal out of "fixing" their beds. They like a soft place to lay.

  • He needs a bed!

  • I've lost some carpet this way but still love my dog, give me the hole in the carpet and the dog, rather than a perfect carpet in a no-dog house.

  • @petitemoineau Same here. Some of 'em just like to "dig" at the carpet.

  • When they are housed at the track, they often sleep in bedding of shredded paper. I have been told that this is why they 'fluff' the area where they intend to lay. My 2 dogs have several old blankets in each of their crates and often fluff the blankets for 10 minutes or more before lying down....many times it looks like the blankets are right back where they started from, too :)

  • Is that what he's doing? Trying to fluff up the floor so he can lie down? My dog does this, too, and it's always mystified me.

  • lol Curt is a great name for a greyhound! Our old German shepherd/chow mix, named Lucy, used to do the same thing. She died a couple years ago, but it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy seeing your dog do it too! :)

  • He seems neurotic. Give him a pillow!

  • where is the bed. poor dog!

  • Thanks!!

  • Very cute!
