The colors in the graph presented here look quite natural and authentic and not at all retouched. People didn't obsess over eye color until color contacts became widely available to the general public. At that point the advertisers were not above making potential customers feel insecure about their eye color in order to sell their product. @omega4chimp I live in an area with a great many Dutch people, so there are lots of blue eyes, nothing really brilliant really, just a very average grayish blue. If we look at some of the pictures of models, believe me, Many of those eyes are retouched, I know, I'm a professional graphic artist, we can't help ourselves. Brown eyes are just as pretty as most blue, grey, green, or hazel eyes, there are some really exceptional eye colors out there, but they are fairly rare.

blacks can have different colored eyes and different shades of brown. my grandmother is black and she has light brown eyes with a wide ring of cloudy blue and most of the other people on my grandmothers side have it. yes i know its hard to believe but its true. its just rare within our race.

I can't see where my pupil is cause the outer surrounding has the same color as it basically but I have a lot of life in my eyes so no one ever tells me I look dead or dark. First, I would just like to say that when I first meet others, I look in their eyes. That being said, I've taken several trips to several African countries and when the sun hit their eyes, they lit up just like all other dark brown eyes. I see. Which part of Italy are you from? A lot of people say that in the Northern Italy, people are more nordic than in South Italy but here in Brazil most italians who imigrated came from Calabria and is quite common for italians descendants to have light eyes/hair in Brazil. When I see sport events(like volleyball championship in Italy) is quite hard to see a light eyed italian in places like Roma or so. Is there really places with much more percentage of light eyes there?

@learning112233 It's only a matter of definition. All traits were created by mutations, and light eyes are no different. You could say that it is a degeneration, technically, through a mutation, but it's a normal phenomenon where it's found, and such it's not a 'medical condition' like albinism. It's only a matter of semantics, and it doesn't really matter if you call it albinism, because it doesn't change a thing. Most Euro's don't have blue eyes (or light blond hair) anyway.
@mroldnewbie Oh, and by the way, you can look at Wikipedia, and search for 'Eye color', it will show a map of blue&green eye prevalence in Europe, under the subsecion "blue". The areas with the highest percentages also have a fairly low population density, compared with areas with a smaller pecentage of blue/green eyes.
Parts of this video are true, other parts are ridiculas. Comparing the high quality obviously photoshopped pictures of eyes belonging to caucasions with the poor quality pictures of black africans doesen't help your case at all. It makes all you say highly suspect.
I did homework on this as I am white and wanted to know what caused my gray eyes. The case ends up being that gray eyes have even less pigment than blue and the genetic end of it hasn't been studied yet.

On the other hand, blue eyes are the consequence of just A mutation. Only a gene is involved in the eyes colour (in the COLOUR, not in the SHADE.) That means you don't belong to a different race or ethnicity according to your eyes colour: a blueyed Black person is a Black person, although he has heired a gene from a White ancestor.

Nice video, but race is a sliding scale and likewise with brown eyes. If I see someone with brown eyes who's white in the UK, I think to myself that they probably have Spanish/Italian ancestory. But generally, the indegenous North Europeans have lightly coloured eyes which aren't brown.

This video makes a good point, but that's not to argue that eye colors are also a "mixture" of genetic expressions. But, I know what the video those point and I agree. The oldest Europeans had brown eyes, but due to evolutionary reasons, it became that different of those who where expose to strong sun light, like Africans.

@omega4chimp I live in an area with a great many Dutch people, so there are lots of blue eyes, nothing really brilliant really, just a very average grayish blue. If we look at some of the pictures of models, believe me, Many of those eyes are retouched, I know, I'm a professional graphic artist, we can't help ourselves. Brown eyes are just as pretty as most blue, grey, green, or hazel eyes, there are some really exceptional eye colors out there, but they are fairly rare.

We're people rich in colors. In the Caucasian race, any set of parents can produce any coloration of eye color in their children, regardless of their own eye color. Note: every blue eyed-person is related to a single ancestor, this also means brown eyed people with blue eyed parents are related as well ;)

I can't see where my pupil is cause the outer surrounding has the same color as it basically but I have a lot of life in my eyes so no one ever tells me I look dead or dark. I, personally have light brown eyes that match my skin tone almost perfectly. It's kind of creepy in my opinion. My point is, eye color is not specific to any race its just that some are more common to certain races. Why, I have not learned the answer to this yet but I have been told by highly educated professors that it's because of their environment and gene pool.

A lot of people say that in the Northern Italy, people are more nordic than in South Italy but here in Brazil most italians who imigrated came from Calabria and is quite common for italians descendants to have light eyes/hair in Brazil. @learning112233 It's only a matter of definition. All traits were created by mutations, and light eyes are no different. You could say that it is a degeneration, technically, through a mutation, but it's a normal phenomenon where it's found, and such it's not a 'medical condition' like albinism. It's only a matter of semantics, and it doesn't really matter if you call it albinism, because it doesn't change a thing. Most Euro's don't have blue eyes (or light blond hair) anyway.

@mroldnewbie Oh, and by the way, you can look at Wikipedia, and search for 'Eye color', it will show a map of blue&green eye prevalence in Europe, under the subsecion "blue". The areas with the highest percentages also have a fairly low population density, compared with areas with a smaller pecentage of blue/green eyes.

Parts of this video are true, other parts are ridiculas. Comparing the high quality obviously photoshopped pictures of eyes belonging to caucasions with the poor quality pictures of black africans doesen't help your case at all. It makes all you say highly suspect.
I did homework on this as I am white and wanted to know what caused my gray eyes. The case ends up being that gray eyes have even less pigment than blue and the genetic end of it hasn't been studied yet.

ROFL. This is getting ridiculous. All I know is that my DNA was traced back to Africa (Kenya & Ethiopia) and we eventually settled in Spain, Ireland and Britain. As a white person, do i care whether my light brown eyes came from my African ancestor's NOPE. I am just glad that they gave birth to someone who eventually led to me;)

First, there is not any Caucasian race...
On the other hand, blue eyes are the consequence of just A mutation. Only a gene is involved in the eyes colour (in the COLOUR, not in the SHADE.) That means you don't belong to a different race or ethnicity according to your eyes colour: a blueyed Black person is a Black person, although he has heired a gene from a White ancestor.

@213HERERRA A few years ago studies were carried out on the Welshman's Y chromosome and it was found to be a very ancient one. This chromosome was also found to be the same as the Y chromosome found in the Basque males.
Geneticist's came to the conclusion that Basque Welsh and Irish males are very Homogeneous.

No, there is not a White race... There are several different peoples from Europe.
Blue eyes are the result of two recessive genes that occupy the same "locus". For a Black man being blueeyed, he must have at least two White ancestors: one in the paternal lineage and another in the maternal. Albinism has nothing to do here, because it implies another chromosome (11): ocular albinism is perfectly compatible with the gene combinations that bring brown eyes about.

Nice video, but race is a sliding scale and likewise with brown eyes. If I see someone with brown eyes who's white in the UK, I think to myself that they probably have Spanish/Italian ancestory. But generally, the indegenous North Europeans have lightly coloured eyes which aren't brown.

This video makes a good point, but that's not to argue that eye colors are also a "mixture" of genetic expressions. But, I know what the video those point and I agree. The oldest Europeans had brown eyes, but due to evolutionary reasons, it became that different of those who where expose to strong sun light, like Africans.
