  • deze song blijft altijd in me en ook daarna schitterend

  • Right On!!! This album stands with the best of the Sixties...Pete out did himself on the production...RIP Speedy and Jimmy....

  • "Hollywood Dream" is such a FANTASTIC album. Good gosh, these guys should have gone on to do more, even if it was only one or two more albums! They were a great and unique band.

  • Yes it is a brilliant master piece, but TN has so many great songs that most people will never hear. They should've never been a one hit wonder band. I love all their wonderful songs !!!!!! They stand the test of time !

  • What a great record to finish the 60s with, I remember that time as a five year old and this record epitomised the spirit of the age better than any Crosby, Stills & Nash or Beatles ever could.

  • Saw them live at Tropic at Ruislip last Friday 1st OCT - all agreed, one of best gigs for years - they all wanted to play and really enjoyed themselves.

BIG Thanks to you all and the chaps at Tropic for arranging - line up was

Andy "Thunderclap" Newman – Piano, Woodwind and vocals

Mark Brzezicki – Drums and vocals (Ex Big Country)

Josh Townshend nephew of PETE – Guitar and vocals

    Nick Johnson – Guitar

    Tony Stubbings – Bass Guitar

  • Mum eh? I was about 12 when this was no 1 in UK.. I wonder what became of them (we know what happened to your mum!) Newman was the name of the piano player ..........if my memory serves me well..... wheels on fire!

  • This timeless song is perfect for a lazy summer day.

  • One of my all time favourite songs and is as relevant now in the time of 'Disclosure' as when it was first released.

  • Hand out the arms and ammo~I will be +here for that one deVision son~* do not fret.

  • Hadn't seen this footage before today, priceless!. Was 8 years old when this came out and can still remember the tension of potential nuclear war that prevailed at the time. Powerful stuff indeed! Thanks for sharing.

  • Powerful stuff !!!!!!!!!

  • great song from July 1969!

  • Great Video

  • Timeless!

A shame that Andy is the only one with us now.

  • I've read through all the comments...but where is it? Croydon? Stevenege? Basildon? Someone must know. Fabulous song...and Mall Rock (twenty years before Tiffany and Debbie Gibson).

  • I'm guessing, but the promo appears to have been filmed in Maidenhead, Berkshire. Can anyone correct me on this?

At 1:56, you can see a sign on a building that I think says Nicholsons Walk. Also, the Golden Skillet Restaurant (ndba Smokey Joe's Roadhouse, in what is now Nicholsons Lane) was located at 22 Nicholsons Walk, in Maidenhead.

Love you Andy, Speedy, and Jimmy! :-) xoxo

  • i know this song from the girl next door ^^ :)

  • It breaks my heart what happened to jimmy. Such a great talent that´s sadly no longer with us.

  • My mum is one of the children that all run over the camera at the end!!!

  • love the swinging piano bit.

  • and you know that its right!

excellent clip of this seminal song

  • anyone know where I can download this version of this song (Thunderclap Newman promo clip) I have found othersby Thunderclap but they sound kind of funky- not as good as this one Thanks

  • First time I've seen this clip since about 1977. Thanks.

  • Agree this was the best song ever. Takes me back to when I a was at my perfect age that despite almost 60 years of age I still consider myself this young (about 18)

  • what?

  • Best song ever.

  • The Balloon Revolution.

  • Terrific gas.

  • What a great song...and a brilliant LP "Hollywood Dream" on Track as well. I'll have to find Jimmy's LP on Capitol and hear it again...and Speedy Keen and the Andy solo with all the "bathtub brass" and kazoos. What a bunch of funloving snoots. Lucky I got both the singles from the album with the cool non LP "b" sides.

Fantastic video with all those odds and sods...and a quick flash of an old Bedford Bus!

  • This is flat-out one of the best songs ever recorded, period. The whole album is fantastic and this is the cherry on the cake. I love everything about this song, particularly at 3:22 when that majestic strings section comes in for the last time. Brilliant. RIP Speedy.

  • Apart from Beatles music, this is my favourite all time song of the sixties. It's a perfect piece of pop music.

  • How was this one 'pulled off' in the studio..since the guitar is in 'open E'..then modulates 2x's .. (Capo?)

  • "On Something In The Air, I double tracked the SG and the Strat. They were slightly out of tune with each other and sounded like a 12 string." - Jimmy McCulloch

  • The wings guitar player from 70's is in this band he later got kicked out and died of an overdose

  • I love this track, always have and always will.

  • Uh, the bass on the album was played by Pete Townsend. It's uncredited; but Townsend has confirmed it several times.

  • I know that but I meant the bassist for live performances. My bad.

  • Jimmy McCulloch was an amazing guitarist, his playing in "Fredereek Hernando" by One In A million is terrific. He was just a child. R.I.P

  • true but now that makes 2 excellent guitarists that have died due to drug abuse......Jimmy McCulloch and Jimi Hendrix.....Fame takes so many lives away

  • why aren't the old people ( ie my age now) moaning and complaining about this young persons spontaneous happening?

  • I like this video . It was a sign of the times.I also got a good laugh at the women at 2:36 forever immortalized in the act of rhinotillexis

  • wow!! what a treasure, rare promo for this song -- thanks for posting it!! <3

  • I went to school with wee Jimmy [sadly missed]He later played with Stone the Crows and Paul McCartney amongst others.Great guitar player his 1st band was called the Jaegars...

  • the bassist is my dads cousins husband.....he is called Les Taylor.....he doesnt like talking about the band tho since they wer manufactured

  • Even though they were manufactured they were still good...he should be proud that he was part of this and the era that helped shaped music.

  • Comment removed

  • what does that mean that they are manufactured?

  • It means that they were created by Pete Townsend from the Who to play Speedy Keens songs.

  • it means tht they wernt friends...they didnt knw each other they wer just put together like The Monkeys

  • the bassist is Jim Avery.

  • This is one of the coolest old videos I've ever seen. Thunderclap was a cool band indeed! Too bad there are very few bands today that write songs like this or that even know how to play for that matter. This is great.

  • its a shame tho that they wer a manufactured band

  • I'm pleased to say that I experienced (and sought out at the time) the music of the sixties first hand - so why have I never seen footage like this?. Either I'm totally stupid to miss this, or the media is taking the piss. Thanks to whom posted this and Youtube for promoting it, lets not get too F*****g serious, because this is seriously good music.

  • And the message is still the same, the revolution is here.....

  • I haven't seen much evidence of it mate. Been waiting for over thirty years.

When it does come , it's well over due my son...

  • Nice video, I didn't know there was one. Thanks for posting it.

  • Totally awesome - where did this come from?

  • Hear, hear!

  • a journey into my youth now i remember thanks

  • great video, thx for uploading
