The need to feed is a humans most basic instinct, and starvation is one of the worst phyiscal and mental traumas your body can suffer.
With that said, its amazing that Bale could find the motivation to go through with this. His everyday life would have been a living hell, in the face of starvation everything but food would be ashes. It takes one hell of a will and determination to pull off something like this.
Yeah he lost weight in 4 months b4 the shooting of this movie the only thing he ate was a cup of coffee and an apple or a can of tuna he got down to 54 kilos (120LBs) and they said he wanted to lose 45 kilos or something like that (99LBs) but the producers n such wouldn't let him cause of health issues n stuff O.O He deff is scary skinny in this movie but it does show how dedicated he was 2 his role... O.o lol
i don't know how he lost so much weight, he must've damn near killed himself. i tried a similar diet for 3 weeks. lost about 5 kilos just eating tuna, bananas, . I was on the bicycle for about 3 hours a day- it was insane. But at the end of it I had headaches, felt weak, couldn't eat properly for a while, felt sleepy and mentally tired. Just 3 weeks so I don't know how much long-term damage he must've done to his body after *that* transformation. He's lucky it didn't kill him, frankly.
Am I the only one who thinks that this is NOT the way to go? This is probably the most extreme I have ever seen someone lose weight for a movie... I mean, it's still a movie, the consequences after it are for your entire life O.O
