Joey is a bit on the big/husky side to be a great dancer imo. The best dancers are taller and slim/mer. Not to say that he didn`t do well (obviously) but with slimness comes the ability to be a quicker and lighter on your feet dancer. The image is better too. This coming from purely a spectators perspective. Julianne is drop dead gorgeous btw!

this was the beginning of a conspiracy right there at season 4. The show is all about the Hough and Ballas family because they are all best friends. Julianne won season 4 and 5, Mark won season 6 and Derek won season 7 and I'm certain one of them is going to win season 8. You just watch.
J&A were great, but the fact that Julianne and Helio won...that was total BS. Season 5 was by far the worst season on the show: Sabrina got knocked off WAY too early and Mel totally should have won.
No she's not. I'm certain I heard last that she decided to take the season off to focus on her country music. She did say she wasn't coming, then she said she was and now she decided again she's not. So I can see why people got confused but the last I heard, she is not coming back.

To me Julianne & Apolo seemed closer than Julianne & Helio, age, first win, who knows. When Julianne & Apolo were on DWTS 4, she was only 18 and engaged to be married. She broke her engagement during the show, this does not mean that J & A are together. J & A have a lot in common both left home at an early age to pursue their dreams, Julianne became a world class dancer and Apolo became a world class athlete.

I think Julianne's win with Apolo will always be the most special to her. It was her first, and she and Apolo shared a very special connection. I didn't see that dynamic with Helio. Yes, she was thrilled with her second win, but frankly, I think she was happy to have this season with Helio over. No offense to him, but I just felt her experience with Helio this season was not always so pleasant for her.
I totally agree. A & J had sizzling chemistry and were magic on the dance floor. The difference was that Apolo had implicit trust in Julianne, and responded to her discipline and control like he would his skating coach. Helio was not used to it, he likes being in control. The chemistry with Helio was there and the two of them were awesome, but it was more forced for sure. In any case I'm so glad she won back to back, she's the best!

I knew that Apolo was going to win from the first night I saw him dance. The reason why is because he is good on his feet because of his speed skating, except for the fact that speed skating is around in a circle and dancing is a lot of twists and turns.
Just saw an alert from People that Apolo has decided to join the tour for 5 stops. Said he'd started training for the Olympics after the show ended, but quickly realized he couldn't go on without at least another week of Sambas. LOL. Sure wish I lived in one of those five cities!

Love watching this again... just wish ABC would have given more air time to the celebration and congrats from the other dancers... they dragged the show out to 2 hours but only gave the least couple of minutes to the actual champions! Not enough time, because I wanted to watch the celebration!
One of the things I liked was that you can hear (over the roar) Apolo insisting that Julianne raise the trophy with him. Love that he rightly considered they were a team and wanted her to share in it.

joey had technique as well as as preformance but is'nt as well known as apolo with the 18-24 age range that the show is most popular with. apolo's freestyle looked alot like mario &karina .
Apolo a speed-skater a sport that is only marginally cared about 4 years at a time in the less watched/cared for Winter Olympics MORE popular than a boy bander who sold millions of albums to a bunch of tweens? Sure...in Bizarro world. And Apolo/Julianne's freestyle was only similiar to Mario/Karina in that they wore black/white and used an old skool song, because A/J's was much more real than M/K's fakey version of anything resembling pop hop.
as far as the popularity apolo is popular NOW . joey was back in what ? five , ten, or more years ago . and popularity plays a big part in this show .the deomgraphics for this show are within there ages. I won't even start on there freestyle .
And Apolo's last Olympics were when? When his sport was what compared to say, snowboarding or women's figure skating. The latter beign the only REAL draw of the Winter Olympics for most people.

I think Julianne's win with Apolo will always be the most special to her. It was her first, and she and Apolo shared a very special connection. I didn't see that dynamic with Helio. Yes, she was thrilled with her second win, but frankly, I think she was happy to have this season with Helio over. No offense to him, but I just felt her experience with Helio this season was not always so pleasant for her.

I totally agree. A & J had sizzling chemistry and were magic on the dance floor. The difference was that Apolo had implicit trust in Julianne, and responded to her discipline and control like he would his skating coach. Helio was not used to it, he likes being in control. The chemistry with Helio was there and the two of them were awesome, but it was more forced for sure. In any case I'm so glad she won back to back, she's the best!

I knew that Apolo was going to win from the first night I saw him dance. The reason why is because he is good on his feet because of his speed skating, except for the fact that speed skating is around in a circle and dancing is a lot of twists and turns.

Just saw an alert from People that Apolo has decided to join the tour for 5 stops. Said he'd started training for the Olympics after the show ended, but quickly realized he couldn't go on without at least another week of Sambas. LOL. Sure wish I lived in one of those five cities!

Pause it at 4:00, Julianne has her hands on Apolo's shoulder while he's chatting with Karina (whom he really didn't pay attention to) In fact, watch Julianne very closely, she never takes her eyes off Apolo. As everyone greets him, she's on the background waiting for his attention!! Pause at 4:09/4:10 also. She loves him!!! Come on Apolo, step to the plate!!!

Love watching this again... just wish ABC would have given more air time to the celebration and congrats from the other dancers... they dragged the show out to 2 hours but only gave the least couple of minutes to the actual champions! Not enough time, because I wanted to watch the celebration!

One of the things I liked was that you can hear (over the roar) Apolo insisting that Julianne raise the trophy with him. Love that he rightly considered they were a team and wanted her to share in it.

Come on - you think young people (18-24) like ballroom dancing? LOL. No, their parents and grandparents watched the show. The young started watching as soon Opolo Ohno started getting attention.

joey had technique as well as as preformance but is'nt as well known as apolo with the 18-24 age range that the show is most popular with. apolo's freestyle looked alot like mario &karina .

Apolo a speed-skater a sport that is only marginally cared about 4 years at a time in the less watched/cared for Winter Olympics MORE popular than a boy bander who sold millions of albums to a bunch of tweens? Sure...in Bizarro world. And Apolo/Julianne's freestyle was only similiar to Mario/Karina in that they wore black/white and used an old skool song, because A/J's was much more real than M/K's fakey version of anything resembling pop hop.

as far as the popularity apolo is popular NOW . joey was back in what ? five , ten, or more years ago . and popularity plays a big part in this show .the deomgraphics for this show are within there ages. I won't even start on there freestyle .
