no northwest airlines is owned by delta, northwest used to have a partner ship with KLM but NWA got bought and merged with delta

Delta didn't buy NWA, hence merger. Since the NWA name is now replaced by Delta, Delta and KLM will become close partners. Before the merger, Delta and Air France were close partners as well. So in the end Delta, KLM, and Air France are all close partners now.

That's not true at all. NWA and KLM are partners and codeshare flights.
