  • grew up vith this game :,)

  • Nostalgia to the max.

  • I love the music...I think it's one of my greatest memories from this game.

  • This is so far the BEST, I mean THA BEST Star Wars game ever made!

  • i LOVED this game back when i was 9 years old.

  • Imagine Shadows of the empire 2 at e3 2012 :D I never liked any other star wars games besides this one.

  • @xInfamous187x OMG if they released that for xbox..play that game live all day.

  • @indoguju umm no not xbox, it would come out on a Nintendo platform..besides xbox is shit now

  • This game it's so good but the graphics are ugly :/

  • @DiegoDaniel293 This game came out in 1996 as a launch title for the N64. The graphics were incredible for its time period.

  • @SurgingChaos19 Yes I know I have a lot of N64 games, I just saying :)

  • @SurgingChaos19 Agree for 1996 graphics were exponentially better. Love this game.

  • @DiegoDaniel293 Graphics were ahead of it's time.

  • i always used to take the at-at's out with lasers LOL

  • This brings back memories. I remember my older bro took me to see the special editions in the theatres and I became in love with Star Wars. Then when this game came out I was so souped. Definitely one of the best titles on the N64.

  • haha i rember this dam brings back soooooo many memories

  • After reading the novel of Shadows of The Empire in a week a couple years ago. I'm pissed Lucas canned the film tie in. The film would of been amazing imo. Also this is one N64 I really miss :(

  • The flight scenes in this games were the most spectacular stages the N64 would offer in years. The only cons were the extensive use of fog in the "on-foot" stages together with the 'slightly' canned sound. If only Nintendo had remained faithful to the original tech specs of Project Reality, this would have been really awesome. Cutting down on its horsepower was like signing a death sentence before launch.

  • pretty nice sfx and digitized music

  • got this for $5 a couple years ago, best $5 i ever spent lol

  • My stupid older brother took our N64. We used to play it all the time together.

  • When I try to fire the harpoon it just makes a clicking noise and nothing happens... What the hell do I do?

  • @happyhappy85 You have to wait for it to say "Fire tow cable!" on the screen.

  • It would be awesome if they remade this!

  • For some reason I always thought when they developed this game, they tried to make it so it would seem like a 3D version of the Super Star Wars games for the SNES. You know having the jingle before a level starts, vehicle levels in between regular levels, having boss battles, and if you played the N64 version: Having the still images with text dialogue.

  • Dash Mother Fucking Rendar

  • I miss this game...

  • Dose this work on Project64? I want to know ahead of time before downloading it.

  • This game definitely takes me back to my days as a kid. I used to play the hell out of this game when I first got it for my N64 a lot with Super Mario 64 and StarFox 64.

The Hoth level was always my favorite because of the music and atmosphere. If I'm not mistaken this level, because of its gameplay, was one of the main inspirations for Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, right?

  • One of the greatest games ever made!

  • It sucks that my game cartridge stopped working a long time ago :(

  • @SKRicochet

If you still got that cartridge then maybe you can fix it. All you need is a q-tip and some rubbing alcohol (isopropanol). Just put some isopropanol on one side of the q-tip and clean the contacts on the open side of the game module. You will be amazed how much dirt goes off. Repeat this treatment until no more dirt comes off then dry the contacts with the dry side. In most cases, the module will work again. You also can use contact spray on the q-tip.

  • anyone know the name of the song in the background?

  • this games worths to be bought ! currently, i can find it in a shop for only 9,5€ (~14$) :P

  • @sunmingzhao i wonder if i could play this game on my PC on windows 7

  • @grikuomega i tried it on Win7 and it doesn't work. i don't know why, but PC's Star Wars games are difficult to get read on machines which are not the "natives".

  • Better Graphics than call of duty : P

  • @BlueMoonProduction10

    I DEFINITELY Agree!

  • @BlueMoonProduction10 better story and overall gameplay than call of duty :3

  • lol, looks like the Shield Generator is made of cardboard

  • This game was so fucking hard :D

  • I like how the story wasn't really any of that expanded universe crap, more than it was another POV of Empire Strikes Back.

  • @teetertotter68 Shadows of the Empire is the expanded universe, the story that takes place between 5 and 6. As are all video games.

  • This should have been the new movie as originally intended by lucas instead of that prequel crap.

  • @CragScrambler

Wow I never knew that. I wish it was the next star wars movie too.

  • I used to play this game all the time and I didn't know a thing about Star Wars then and I wasn't able to figure out what to do. And that skinny robot scared the shit out of me then. And now when I see the Hoth scene when watching the movie, I get a feeling of nostalgia from playing this level 80% of the time in my childhood. Good ol' days.

  • classic

  • I just bought this game and wanted to see what I will be playing.

  • Just Like the Movies!

  • I used to just always Kamakazi into those fucking AT-ATs

  • there is a secret level if you find all of these challenge points... cant find it

  • I played so much of this shit in my childhood and enjoyed it. I sucked at the game though.

  • Easy mode? Lame!

  • This and Rogue Squadron were my childhood! =)

  • i remember just how hard the AT-AT tow cable was, until I discovered that the speeder had breaks, and could slow down. then the entire challenge died

  • gaming nostalgia indeed

  • weird this game has better detail than the ps2 star wars battlefront 2...

  • this is one of the most underrated videogames

this game is a masterpiece, maybe, one of the best i played

  • i remember i had this game before, brings back memories

  • Can someone tell me how to save this game without it automatically deleting all the data after i turn the game off?

  • @MrMAHBOI1 At the end of each level, when it's tallying your totals, it will ask to save the game.

  • I was in love with StarWars 64.

  • God this game brings me back to my childhood, wow. Now I remember a lot of great games.

  • Second Game I ever received. I remember I used to not know how to use the toe-cable, and when I figured it out I felt so special.

    Also,

Sewer Boss = Scariest Fucking Boss EVER

  • @DrClay999 Agreed. Used to make me shit myself.

  • @DrClay999 yeah but the fucking sewers? lol eww.. have to swim in people's shit thats disgusting

  • OH GOD I HAD THAT GAME! IT WAS AMAZING!

  • Thumbs up if the AVGN bought you here!

  • @F2FRONT500 well not for me lol, even though the AVGN's review was awesome!! but i own this game and i was actually searching for a pc walkthrough, if you find one can you send me the link please?

  • @F2FRONT500 Hey, which video of avgn's did he talk about this game-? thanks

  • @quhp In the Star Wars video game review. He talked about it briefly though.

  • @F2FRONT500 If you're older than 12, you've probably played this and remember it being a good game, instead of AVGN telling you it is.

  • @gottmospahedengubbar

Yeah, the pc version was better though in that it didn't have that annoying fog. But the N64 version had the wampa and AT ST cheat though :P. Sote was the first ever game where you could take part in the Battle of Hoth, sigh I remember those days well. Star Wars games and indeed games as a whole are getting boring nowadays...

  • @Alstom1995 I agree, this game (and especially this battle of Hoth) is sweet as hell. I dont care as much for the trainlevels etc.

  • @gottmospahedengubbar

JUMP TO THE NEXT HOVERTRAIN! :p

  • @gottmospahedengubbar

Hey did you ever play the trilogy arcade game? That is a great game.

  • @Alstom1995 Hell yeah, it fucking rocks. I never got to fight with DV though..

  • @gottmospahedengubbar

Well if you download the supermodel model 3 emulator, you can play it on your pc ;)

  • i remember back to when i was about 6 years old and my parents bought us a N64 when it just came out and they got this game along with it. me and my brothers played this game religiously. years and years later i still think back to those days and could never remember the name of the game. seeing this video made me shit my fucking pants. holy fuck, talk about a blast from the past. this game had such a impact on my love for star wars.

  • ahh my brother was addicted by this game!how many hours of playing! but the best game for n64 was 007 goldeneye! fun guaranteeed especially when playing 1vs1! great!

  • oh shit i remember this game i played it when i was young it was so fun to destroy robot things. (i dunno star wars very much so i call them robots)

  • i remember playing this as a eight year old kid! I thought the probe droids were saying, "fearless leader dead" and the only way to kill the AT-AT's was to crash your snow speeder into the cockpit. Good Times! I salute you N64 the best game counsel of all time!

  • I just think anyone who doesnt buy this game is really missing out and for five bucks dam u really need to buy this game thumbs up if u agree.

  • REMAKE!

MUST BE A REMAKE OF THIS GAME!

  • I got it for mah N64!

  • yea and this is the one that doesn't run well on emulators either so you gotta get that original copy.

  • i love nintendo 64 Waooow Starwarss i like

  • I remember as a kid in '96, I wished they made this into an actual movie. I always wanted to see what Prince Xizor and Dash Rendar were like in cinema form...

Shadows of the Empire = the greatest Star Wars movie never made..

  • Comment removed

  • dude.. seriously one of the best star wars games of the 90s. sooo many hours epnt playing this after xmas of 96. i used to do that crazy ass glitch where u gotta hold al the buttons and turn the analog stick a certain way and u get like 100 lives and could fuck with the wampas all day haha. good times :)

  • I love this game :)

  • i just got this game today for 3$ off Ebay, it was like 70$ when i bought it new when it came out, or should i say, santa brought it to me for christmas, lol to be 9 years old again!

  • I remember playing this as a kid, I could NEVER do the tow cable bullshit, so I just wasted time firing at them with my blasters.

  • @jakkied1 Same here man... I could play endlessly without knowing what the hell to do xD

  • I miss this game lmao it was hard.

  • con la consola es facil ese juego

(yo tengo consola pero el caset no)

por eso me baje el emuladot y ta bn difisil

  • man I missed trying to play this on Jedi mode. 1 hit from an AT-AT = dead. memories.

  • @HelmutVillam it's FUCKINGLY HARD!!! it took me a lot of tries to beat the whole game on jedi!! and what's more getting all challenge points!! damn, that's hard D:

  • @LoLeLombardi ya I remember this game being super hard, but hell of a lot of fun

  • easly one of the best games of all time im not even a big starwars guy but this game is definatly worthy of a remake for newer systems.

  • looks like Rogue squadron

  • i have really mixed "nostalgic" feelings of this game. Not sure how to explain it, on one part, i really enjoy seeing scenes such as these, but also, i can wake up screaming and sweating remembering this game. ...

I think it has to do with the blurry graphics, and "violent" sounds. It really F up my mind. I've never experienced that, with anything else i think. Especially the junkyard level, the memories horrify me. I was round 10-11 i think when i played this.

  • @Actimus123 yes i too have bad memories of the Junkyard level

  • @111Yamato Nigger.

  • BTW your video is slow to buffer and freezes.

  • defo on of the hardest games to complete

  • thumbs up if you kamikazee on those AT-ST's

  • @JordanR730 alright, thanks :)

  • I always accidentally paused it trying to skip the cutscenes too.

  • I was searching this masterpiece around YouTube for months!!

Thanks for uploading SOTE, my friend. It really bring back memories.

  • I miss Shadows of the Empire

  • This game was so cool. I could only ever beat this level, but I had so much fun looking up cheats for the Wompa Stompa and shit. God, so fun!

  • I remember playing this game all the time as a kid back in the 90's it was awesome.

I wish I had goldeneye007, jet force gemini and perfect dark to back then thoose games were the big bollocks (that means they are very good) XD

  • I remember playing this when I was only 10, the game actually scared me at the part with the wompas, and when you have to jetpack over those sewer monsters.

  • hey, just a quick question to people, there are multiple n64 consoles ive seen on offer including some with multiple games and in good condition with all the wires and a controller for £50, is that worth it or should i get a cheaper cruddier version for about half that with no games? any help would be greatly appreciated

  • OH MY GOD VINTAGE MEMSIES. real hot salamander!

  • love Nostalgia

  • wat movies do these droids, the AT-STs, and the AT-AT appear in?

  • @slapshot68 o_O

    You're kidding right?

The entire level is taken directly from Empire Strikes Back.

  • I loved this game so much... I always played it on easy because the monsters in the murky water scared me the way they growled so I never got to hard/jedi mode to see what happened at the end, if dash made it out alive, but I just bought it on ebay today so hopefully I get it soon... man I cant wait, Ill have to make some videos too haha, thanks for the whole walk through, 10 **********s

  • i remember this first level first time at my cousin's... it was incredible. the music, just great stuff

  • This was the first game I ever played on the N64 at 12 years of age, an iconic moment of my childhood seeing this level of detail in a game for the first time. My only experience of real 3D before to this game was Mechwarrior 2. This game was poorly rated simply due to the poor control systems of the bike chase level and the large amounts of fog in the first person shooter levels. It's highly underrated because it was one of the first games which married a variety of gameplay elements.

  • It wasn't till later that year I got Mario 64, in which point I realized that since it had awesomeness in so many games, just being just below awesome which most games on that system were, wasn't good enough... well as far as the game reviewers of that time thought anyway.

  • I miss the days of the awesome Star Wars games, luckily Bioware is keeping awesomeness alive in Star Wars.

  • i remember having this game over a decade ago an it still looks great

  • I loved this damn game !!!!! You can't beat Nintendo 64 or Ps2

  • Daaaamn i remember this game when i rented it before when i was a kid!

  • this game is easily the best star wars game of its time and to date.... it never got much credit though. gladiator droid on jedi mode was epic

  • @dedeath If by that you mean an epic PAIN IN THE ASS, then yes!

  • Yay I just bought this game today from my local pocket trader. Can't wait to try it out.

Also got Wave Race,, NBA Live 99, F1 World Grand Prix, Snowboarding 1080 and Top Gear Rally.

Got about 18 but missing one. So I should really have 19. Damn and that other one is my Star wars pod racer game.

  • This mision, the father of Rogue Squadron Series.

  • one of the best games ever that i played when i was younger..

  • probably my favorite SW game and yet it never got any credit

  • one of the best GAMES EVER!!!

  • WOW!!! This brings back sooooooooo many wonderful Memories of my childhood! It's kinda trippy to see something that I haven't seen in 12 years. When looking back at the time I played this it almost seems like it was a different life time of a different person. So weird

  • Indeed, now it's all cigarrettes n booze. (Just kidding).

  • this is the game i grew up with man i loved this game it really made me get into gaming just the 3D world and every thing is hard to beleive how far its come they should put this on xbox live market place =]

  • Gaming Nostalgia?.... What is that?!

  • this game was so awesome i loved it, i remember the first time i played it hah

  • They should release this on Virtual Console!

  • They really should.

    Along with Mischief Makers.

    And Jet Force Gemini.

All three of those games were soooooo underrated yet so amazingly awesome.

  • I saw this game for 4.99 at a game store, should I get it? it looks cool, I have rebel strike and bounty hunter for the Cube and Pod Racer for the N64
