My people used these kind of boats to navigate the Pacific and find all our islands we now live on. This is awesome, are you guys Islanders too? It has been one of my dreams to find a group and build a Proa the old fashion way, and sail it around to teach others about our dying culture. Lucky more and more people are teaching our culture, so thank you!
This is a pacific proa - meaning that it has 2 pointy ends or two bows - the wind only hits the sail from one side - so say you want to tack - well it is called shunting - the mast cants fore-aft and the apex of the sail is walked from one bow to the end of the boat to the other bow and the boat turns - much simpler in real life than in writing

It shows a proa shunting.

My bro is fine. We're currently training to take part in "La Bordée de la St.Jean", a race in Martinique, in which multihulls are allowed. Jerry watched your videos with interest. He loves the look of your proa :)
Anyway, give us a call if you come to Martinique:)

How does the sail end up at the other end of the boat towards the end of video?
