I wouldn't really call Shadowrun an Action RPG. Real time combat doesn't really make it action oriented. You shoot while standing in one place after all and you still have to issue commands to your magic using party members.
What would you call it then? You have to agree that Shadowrun isn't like any other RPG out there. Diablo is an Action-RPG, and just like in Shadowrun you have to stand still while you attack. And I honestly didn't remember that about the magic using party members, I should look into that. But anyway, how would you categorize Shadowrun?
I just see it as an RPG. From the NPC interactions, to the open player progression and questing, to the character progression through Karma, I never felt like the game gave up the core RPG mechanics for more action-oriented ones.
Okay, but you must agree that if a person doesn't like to do the same thing over and over again the person in question shouldn't be suited to play most RPG games. And thing about the games being faithfull to the original RPG: I don't know. I only heard about the RPG just recently, and the reason why I heard about that was because that I was curious about what happened to the Dreamcast version that I once heard or read about.
Yeah, for sure. But RPGs are ABOUT repeating stuff and being rewarded for doing it. You HAVE to grind to a certain level just to be able to beat a certain enemy in an RPG, in any other game you would be able to beat any enemy even with the weakest weapon in the game, if you are good enough.
The beginning reminded me so much of DOOM. If you'd change the flute (or whatever the high pitched instrument is) to some dark-ish synth or fretless bass, I'd think you'd have a kickass DOOM track.
Drake > Dragons & Nagas so Dinosaurs wold have no chance.
