Like the other guy said though this is WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY more intense then carolina cyclone. If you think you can handle it do it. And the first drop ain't bad...but If you think you can get on it do it....don't be a wuss!

@MsCarowinds sorry if I'm replying too late. I would say no, this is a LOT more intense than Carolina Cyclone. I would recommend going on all of the other coasters first. This is the most intense coaster in the park. If you can go on all other (non kiddie) coasters you should be able to go on this though. It gives you butterflies in your stomach a lot, and if it is your first time going on it ride in the middle. It is the least scary. Sorry I probably replied too late!

I don't like this ride. It may be fast, but there are no loops! After riding ALL the roller coasters at Carowinds front-row, I have to say that this isn't as good as the rest. If I would have to rank the top 5...,

1. Afterburn

2. Carolina Cobra

3. Intimidator

4. Nighthawk

5. Thunder Road( gotta go with the classics!)

The nighthawk wouldve surpassed the intimidator, but not untill the track becomes smoother.

Wow that's a beauty! Out of the 3 B&M hypers purchased far for the old Paramount parks, this appears to be the coolest one yet. I haven't ridden Diamond Back but I know Behemoth has several trim breaks on it's bunny hills. They hardly engage though (if at all). I assure u, if your coaster is anything like Behemoth (and from what I see, it is superior), you're all in for a treat! Behemoth looked slow and people said the same thing about its test video. I followed its construction online too.

Intimidator 305 is getting trim brakes and over the shoulder restraints which are going to completely ruin it. This will be a much better ride.

first where did you hear about the OTSR thing? its over head lap bars that are lap bars with shoulder straps and the trims are needed the car is still going 80 mph on that bunny hop (60 foot bunny hop) that would kill you

I know a lot of you people are Intamin fanboys, but i have to say that Carowinds' Intimidator is looking like a better ride than KD's. I will find out shortly though as i am planning on going to both parks.

@hard2catch5501 Actually, the restraints might be similar to those on Pilgrim's Plunge and CP's Shoot the Rapids. If they use anything like an OTSR, it'll be a soft fabric like Tornado at Bakken. Last of all, they're not going to trim it, and if they do, it'll be near the end to give some relief to the final brake run...do your research first.

The most obvious difference which seems to be overlooked is that fact that this is an empty train.

Wait until these trains have somewhere between 3000-5000 lbs. of stored energy on them. It will not just "seem" faster, beieve me. :)

To all of you who are commenting on how it appears to be moving "slowly" please note, this was the very first time the ride has ever been cycled and it was also barely 40 degrees outside. Rides like this run best in warm weather when the track has gotten a chance to warm up. With the cold there's much more friction between the track and the wheels. It will move faster than this when the season actually starts.

@Puff3rf1sh Actually this test run is probably faster than the coaster will be, other than the cold temperatures, coasters are tested faster to tweak the speeds, then the trims and mid course brake run are tweaked to make the coaster run to the desired speed (giving floater air).

Cold weather actually makes a ride go slower, than faster. I agree that they do run the ride faster than they would at first, without the trims/mid course brakes, but cold weather can slow a coaster dramatically.

@kevkev44 I'm aware that cold weather slows a coaster, but this coaster by the looks of the speed its taking over those hills is going faster if not the same speed it will when it opens, not slower. Look at videos of Behemoth, Diamonback, they go over their airtime hills slower than this. Which is why the coaster won't be much faster than this whatsoever when it opens. All B&M hypers look slow when they run, take a look at Behemoth its been open 2 years and people still say it looks slow.

I know you want this ride to be fast but from my observations (A.K.A. looking at the video above) the ride seems to be moving very slowly for an airtime machine like everyone predicts. I've seen enough rides to know when it will have ejector or not. I'm just saying that my prediction is that the ride will lack much ejector air. I am not saying my word is a fact but it's an educated guess. I also agree about the cold slowing the ride down a tad, but not much.
