Palin is an opportunist, she's seems to be more concerend about captializing on her fame and making money then she is on politics, not that I see anything wrong with that. I yearn for the day when a strong female candidate shows up on the sceen.
Never mind my question... I just watched your Ron Paul Part 1: The Shape of Things to Come! video. Sigh, it's true. You're right. The painfully slow, philosophical way seems the only way to go.
Don't you support Ron Paul just a tiny bit though? I know it's against anarchy and voluntaryism (which I relate to most) but maybe he'd be a gateway to anarchy and at least stop some of the murders and deterioration of liberty?
hey everyone im using my lottery money to make youtube videos where i live out your dreams! come check it out! New video is my first time trying weed!
I think it's fair to single out politicians who are more stupid than your average politician. A politician lacking in intelligence is bad enough, but an outright idiotic politician is just plain wrong. Clinton, for example, was intelligent and a good actor. Even though that doesn't make him a morally superior leader, at least he isn't a complete moron.
Over 12 minutes to make a 3 minute point. Meanwhile, I fail to see where your expertise is. Some fair points, but a lot of verbage and talking down at, as though you're of a higher intellect. Are you any less driven by your ego than they?
Does it really take 12 minutes and 44 seconds to answer this question? How fast can we get this attention craving, pseudo intellectual and failed actor on a plane back to Canada. And this bizarre accent affectation is nauseating. He thinks he's Peter O'toole - when in fact he's just a tool.
Are you really suggesting that Obama is on the same level as Palin? Of course they have to speak in a way that the uneducated masses will comprehend. You start off well , but I think dive a little too far into moral or some sort of political relativism where one political stance is no more beneficial or meaningful then any other. I agree with most of your philosophical positions, but I find your political stance rather disturbing. I shall view on though.
By your own definition of Bimbo clearly defines Palin as a Bimbo. She does walk around with complete confidence in her ignorance and pride in her own inept ability to address simple questions of policy or process.
They are all Bimbos, but to say she is not one, when she is a poster child for politics, she most certainly IS a Bimbo as much as she IS a Typical Politician - hence her success thus far. No?
Ron Paul is no exception. Government is inherently evil. He thinks that constitutional evil, or limited evil, or checked and balanced evil is somehow acceptable. The difference is one of degree, not principal.
lol are u serious! hahahahaha And no its not because they think he is a great politician. he is charismatic and has the title of president of USA not less nothing more.... he is a pop culture icon lol
They hired very expensive and competent Public Relations agencies to Sell Obama to the Masses the same as they did here in the USA.

It's appalling to see your fellow countrymen often call Palin names such as bitch or bimbo. By contrast they strictly refrain from calling Obama a nigger. It now looks most likely that on next Tuesday these self-deprecating, yet sexist, Americans will let the silver-tongued Obama take over their country. That is the surest way to put a period to the glorious American century. I don't think such a superficial reconciliation between races is what Martin Luther King Jr. dreamed of seeing.
P.S. Sorry if I destroyed your false premise with my comments. All good comedy needs a premise. Any I enjoyed the degree of 'ludicrosity' you've exposed with this.
Very, very enjoyable. I live for things like this. Life is hilarious *just* below the surface.
Well first of all, I am a Canadian -- and second of all, I am an anarchist, and would never be tempted to pursue political power, since it is a great evil.
@stefbot so, if there is no government, who is stop a evil company like wal-mart from taking control over everything? there is no such thing as a free market and capitalism and the average person have proven this several times throughout history.
BTW have you studied Business Cycle theory? The question of mass maladjustment in human enterprise is not at all confusing when you understand the effects of investment from counterfeiting e.g. QE, in distorting intersectoral price relations. Nobody can blame the free market for insolvency from leveraging subprime lending; central banks machinate to induce investment in specific sectors. Housing. Returns aren't real. Overproduction. Bust. Same with QE of BONDS
Many people have this notion that it's somehow Government vs. Corporations - that, for whatever invalid reason, Corporations represent Free Markets.
You ask about Wal-Mart if there was no Government. You do understand, of course, the Governments CREATE Corporations, right? Where do you think Corporate Charters come from? Corporations are inherently ANTI-free markets because they represent Government Intervention.
If you're talking more generically about any group, let's talk.
@stefbot ....Can you imagine how bad anarchy would be, Somalia is a good example. Why not start a Libertarian party in Canada? We must have rule of law, otherwise society as we know it will break down in a free for all...no one would invest in anything for fear of it being stolen. Our current system, corrupt as it is, is still better than that.
@Vnntbls ...I have heard that the pirates have contributed to the economy. lol I prefer a normal democracy were you can walk down the street in safety and grievences are solved in court rather than a gun battle in the street. If given a choice I wonder how many Somali citizens would actualy stay there?
@vachief "Can you imagine how bad anarchy would be" Sounds like you're using the propaganda definition of anarchy. Anarchy means that you challenge institutions and take them down if they're corrupt; the useful institutions are left standing. Most anarchists, such as myself, are opposed to chaos, and that's why we think that corrupt institutions should be taken down as quickly as possible in order to prevent the kind of chaos that comes out of totalitarianism :)
@tstruss912 ..Anarchy means lack of authority, no government. They tried that in France during the revolution and thousands if not a million were killed. The best way to deal with corruption is to change peoples minds, it will take time, but anything else isn't acceptable as chaos would be inevitable I think.
@vachief I don't know any anarchist that wants no gov. Lack of chaos (which comes from corruption) is our goal. That's why we think corrupt institutions should be taken down before they cause too much trouble. All institutions that function properly can stay, and they can also be built as needed.
@tstruss912 ..I like to believe we could get rid of corruption, but when your dealing with people who enjoy money and power, it appears to be a tough row to hoe so to speak. I know one thing, borrowing money when your broke is a bad idea, all it does is postpone the inevitable. Ten years of war has sucked all the life blood from the nation.
@vachief Well, with this system it's literally impossible to keep corruption in check because we don't even know what's going on. That's why we need a system with more participation from the average American. We need to totally overhaul the voting system so that each of our votes count, and have strong democratically run unions that help make decisions in corporations. Then the wars + bailouts might not have happened. The unions at Fox and CNN might have seen that propaganda was not warranted.
@hmushtaq I take it you missed the point... LOL Nobody deserves to be "president." It's time for a new system. Where we contribute equally & let go of the fears the old system has brain washed us with.
While I basically agree with you here, I think it's unfair to call politicians bimbos. I'm pretty sure that politicians know that they have no fucking clue what they're doing and are just doing whatever the lobbyists tell them to do. BTW, add one to the number of people who would be interested in knowing what you think about the coming election (I don't listen to big media cause I like maintaining my brain cells myself).
"I'm pretty sure that politicians know that they have no fucking clue what they're doing and are just doing whatever the lobbyists tell them to do." Isn't that indicative of a bimbo? I mean, if they're doing only what the people who GIVE THEM MONEY are telling them to do, doesn't that make them bimbos?
What do you mean, no oversight? Didn't you hear? Paulson appointed an overseer. He's Neel Kashkari, who worked for Paulson at Goldman Sachs when it was an investment bank. Since it converted to being a commercial bank last week, it's eligible to thrust its snout into the bailout trough. So Kashkari will oversee it real good.
Stef, I think you are greatly underestimating the enemy. It is easy to get the impression that politicians aren't that smart, but in reality that is precisely the impression they try to give off. If you come off as to smart, then people will not vote for you because they view you as an elitist. These guys have think tanks working for them, their campaigns are run by teams, every move they make is highly calculated. The problem isn't imcompetence, it is greed.
You really think all these people wanted to go to war? And how about 90% of the people against the bailout? So how is this reflective of the population?
I hope this was a reply to someone else b/c this video is saying the exact opposite. It says people had to go along with the war and the bailout whether they wanted to or not. The sad thing is that they actually put a bunch of media hoopla into it to sell the pretense that it actually mattered whether we wanted to or not.
They had a vote (lol). They rejected it (lol). They fixed it (bullshit). They had another vote (haha). It passed (we were fucked from the beginning).
Maybe I'm too ideal but I think we're really in a crisis mode, no pun intended. (Some of us know how many times Palin pointed that out in an interview) Naomi Wolf has said there was a Coup in America on Oct. 1st... Too bad we missed that here in America.
I'm so glad I've found your channel. Do you think there is a form of government that would work better than Canada's representative democracy? Isn't the belief in freedom half the motivation in fighting FOR that freedom? If people become nihilistic, the situation will deteriorate further in my estimation since people who might have been interested in fighting corruption would become fatalistic in attitude.
There are very interesting ideas regarding human nature and the danger of pretending as if people attracted to the power of the government (politicians) are just "loyal servants of the public good", and completely disregarding the obvious existence of human self interest. And of course self interest can be a very good thing, but coupling that self interest with authority and power to kill (war), steal (taxes), kidnap (prisons & drug war) and rape (prisons & war), always results in tyranny.
I think the point is that all politicians are idiots compared to the free market. No one has enough information to control resources in such complex ways.
As far as running the economy, we are all idiots...but the biggest idiots are the ones that think they can control the economy for good.
I dont understand how people continue to think not voting is not taking action. As if voting is the only answer. If you dont like the strawberry flavored shit, and you dont like the raspberry flavored shit, dont buy ANY shit.
I didn't mean to say the only action possible is voting. But it is an action.
For me.. I don't see shit. I see differences, opportunities, and dangers.
I saw a huge difference between Gore and Bush. We would be living a much different time right now if more people had not been so blase and cynical, and had voted Gore.
And.. no, I don't need anyone's opinions on Gore. Some people see shit.. I see someone who could have made a difference.
I have to admit, I still harbor an inner fantasy that Gore would have made a difference as well. I know its wrong of me, I do, butI also know it would never have happened. Its the Electoral vote that determines who is President.
Z bailout is a fantastic example of all z stuff zat can't even remotely be construed as reflecting z "will of z people", since we didn't even have any say (vote) in z matter (not zat voting is a legitimate expression of will). People who zen say, "Well... we elect z representatives who make zese decisions..." need only be reminded zat it's common for people to feel as if zey're deciding between z lesser of two evils. Zat which people consider "evil", can't be said to reflect zeir "will".
Oh crap I marked btbking's reply as "spam". Sorry!!!!
Anyway:
I'm not in a box, btbking and never have been.
Even your own statements are so cynical and wrong, in my opinion. I'm an intelligent guy - Mensa-dropout, high-IQ, multi-faceted, whatever. But I don't agree. "Politicians are all liars"... wow. You don't think there are alot of politicians driven by the will to serve? I DO!
"Govt were made to serve man" implies there was some Utopian past in this world. When? Where?
The very fact that you portray yourself as an intelligent guy shows that you really aren't. Self proclaimed intelligent people are never what they portray to be and that works in parallel with politicians.
I don't want to be rude or anything, but thinking that politicians are working for your own very good, speaks very clearly that you're living an illusion. Then again, I'm not here to convince you otherwise.
Mensa = people who's IQ is like 30% (ie 80/100) higher than average (or is it 45?...95/100)...but you weren't claiming to be some great mind?...naaa...not you.
I love that little smile at 11:33. When you say what the government is doing out loud like that, it really does sound so absurd. It's hard not to giggle.
You are very cynical. Perhaps 8 years of George W Bush has left you jaded. His term has frustrated many of us.
I think you oversimplify the whole process of government. I'm sure you know better. I'm curious why you are feeding the impression of government as a ship of fools. It's absurd reasoning.
Someone pointed me to you, saying you have useful things to say. All I see in this 1st video is someone pontificating for some self-serving reason. Come on! This is silly talk!
I'm not sure if you're joking or not. Sarcasm doesn't translate well on the web. Anyway, assuming you are not, you might consider viewing some of stefbot's 260-odd other videos. They may help with your confusion as to what he is talking about.
No I wasn't joking. I will listen to some of his other videos.
I hear too many people talking like he does. They are so cynical about government that they don't vote or take action, and when things go bad they shrug like Eor and say "yeah, I knew that would happen".
I don't think I'm confused. I heard alot of cynical, defeatist, and downright annoying statements made to sound reasoned. I think I 'get it'.
But I'll check further. Sorry if I insulted anyone.
Once you step out of the box that the main media has made you live in your whole life, then you would know why he says that.
Governments were initially made to serve man, not the other way around. Today it's a jungle of maniacs leading the impression that they are capable of fixing everything, when in fact acting in their own best interest and multiple other reasons behind the scenes. Any intelligent person knows that politicians are all liars, but people never learn, they trust these people.
You haven't made a single argument in your comment. Stef made a 12:44 long video making complex, reasoned arguments. Stef wins, you lose.
It may come as a surprise to you, but you actually have to make an argument. Calling one's argument "absurd", without taking the time to explain why, is not an argument.
Balden2, what arguments are you looking for? I heard no arguments from Stefan. I heard sophomoric abuse, but no examination of ideas. He was just doing his impression of Rush Limbaugh, in my opinion.
Stefan slammed all politicians, bureaucrats, and financial experts as idiots. Thousands and thousands of professionals, all dismissed with a laugh and a sneer. I didn't hear anything to argue. Did you?
I expressed my OPINION.. I disagree. Please point out a single complex reasoned argument.
With all due respect, I suggest you watch more of his videos, you'll find plenty of reasons behind his views.
Keep in mind that I don't expect you to agree with him or me or anyone, that's one of the beautiful things about philosophy, exchanging ideas and looking for common intersections on thoughts, always with sufficient substance so that you can 'cling' onto your claims.
btbking I have watched a couple. I will watch more as you suggest. Balden2 was talking about THIS video I believe.
I understand that diving into one video in a collection of 267 is a dicey proposition. Having done so, however, all I'm saying it it doesn't look good.
I've always kept an eye open for people with good ideas and intelligent discourse. It can be beautiful to be challenged. I Hope I will look back at this video in the future and say "wow, that was a bad one to stumble across!"
Stefan specifically criticized the proposition that a single candidate has ability enough to direct a massive economy. Further, he criticized the $700 bailout as a move that will only prolong the inevitable economic failure, caused by the Federal Reserve system of "monopoly money".
I wonder whether you actually watched the video? Because you dismissed the complex issues outlined above as "absurd", apparently without even understanding them.
I watched it five times while responding to comments. And god help me I listened a 6th time just now.
Those are complex issues alright, but his treatment was far from complex. If you are a fan and agree with all the bias he mentioned you might see this as discourse. Personally, I feel dirty after hearing this again.
BTW he mentioned that NONE of those in govt know the 1st thing about philosophy. I looked it up... many have philosophy degrees including that other idiot, Rudy Guiliani.
I think the point is that all politicians are idiots compared to the free market. No one has enough information to control resources in such complex ways.
As far as running the economy, we are all idiots...but the biggest idiots are the ones that think they can control the economy for good.
You actually have a good point. This video certainly wasn't the best he has to offer. His most interesting stuff is his discussions of anarchy (I listened to his first podcast on anarchy on his website, and it is rather interesting). I agree that his painting of all politicians as idiots is a bit foolish. I consider myself very cynical of government, but not because politicians are fools, but because they are self-serving. I mean, clinton was a rhodes scholar for chrissake.
It is always difficult to distinguish malice from incompetence. It's my opinion that Bush and Bernanke are truly incompetent. Bush failed at everything he ever attempted, and Bernanke is an academic who wrote a very wrong-headed book about the Great Depression. But the industrialists and, ultimately, the bankers who actually direct the executive branch and congress are very smart indeed.
The person who brings wine and candy to to the party while the federal reserve date rapes you. This is what he said about Obama. I don't think it's appropriate of you to act as if he does not know what is going on.
I'm pretty sure I wasn't responding to you. But it's a free world (for now anyway)...if you reread my comment I and find the one I actually was responding to, I think you'll find we're on the same page.
All of them are Bimbos, it's just more obvious for the people that have an I.Q lower than 20 that Palin is a Bimbo. Now she's doing so because it's all about selling her image and acting patriotic and occasionally winking at the camera, just like a real estate agent would sell himself in order for you to buy a given house he's representing. Now obviously that Real Estate agent will try hide any major problems that the house may have and that's why it's better to talk 'junk' rather speak facts.
This old vid. just came on my way... After all the laughs I always get watching Stef's brilliant and funny take on everything he talks about, your comment "...on the level of Dubya bimbosity..." almost made me fall from the chair...Tks buddy, a year later... LOOOL
Obama, McCain, Biden, Palin... they are exactly what people want. People don't want facts, if you talk facts you are not politician and sadly you can't be one.
i dunno, i think you might be on to something with the elves on the pegusi flying thru zeus' brain. It's that kind of genius that might actually save us!!
You are right at least she is cute.

However, it doesn't matter. He is not pursuing Political Power, i.e. FORCE, over YOU. They are.
His ego matters not as it only effects those who VOLUNTARILY decide to interact with him.
Theirs, however, are currently effecting everyone as they steal, kidnap, cage, murder, bomb, slander, assault and destroy all they seek dominion over.
So, I'd say your ad hominems and character assassinations are irrelevant.

Am reasonably sure most of the electorate understand that the elected aren't the source of genius; they are salesman of 'directions'.
But I also see that we are not to look behind the curtain and destroy the Hollywood Superhero effect.
No one would ask to interview a candidates 'economic team' for instance.
We truly need more science in government, but now even science is corrupted by it.
Government should be left to only the low-wage tasks ... janitor, night-watchman. Quit being God of all!

Our current system, corrupt as it is, is still better than that.
vachief 1 year ago
@vachief
Life in Somalia improved under an anarchy. Rule of law is primarily a myth anyway. Rule of man is more apt.

@Vnntbls ...I have heard that the pirates have contributed to the economy. lol I prefer a normal democracy were you can walk down the street in safety and grievences are solved in court rather than a gun battle in the street. If given a choice I wonder how many Somali citizens would actualy stay there?
vachief 1 year ago
@vachief "Can you imagine how bad anarchy would be" Sounds like you're using the propaganda definition of anarchy. Anarchy means that you challenge institutions and take them down if they're corrupt; the useful institutions are left standing. Most anarchists, such as myself, are opposed to chaos, and that's why we think that corrupt institutions should be taken down as quickly as possible in order to prevent the kind of chaos that comes out of totalitarianism :)
tstruss912 1 year ago
@tstruss912 ..Anarchy means lack of authority, no government. They tried that in France during the revolution and thousands if not a million were killed. The best way to deal with corruption is to change peoples minds, it will take time, but anything else isn't acceptable as chaos would be inevitable I think.
vachief 1 year ago
@vachief I don't know any anarchist that wants no gov. Lack of chaos (which comes from corruption) is our goal. That's why we think corrupt institutions should be taken down before they cause too much trouble. All institutions that function properly can stay, and they can also be built as needed.
tstruss912 1 year ago
@tstruss912 ..I like to believe we could get rid of corruption, but when your dealing with people who enjoy money and power, it appears to be a tough row to hoe so to speak. I know one thing, borrowing money when your broke is a bad idea, all it does is postpone the inevitable. Ten years of war has sucked all the life blood from the nation.
vachief 1 year ago
@vachief Well, with this system it's literally impossible to keep corruption in check because we don't even know what's going on. That's why we need a system with more participation from the average American. We need to totally overhaul the voting system so that each of our votes count, and have strong democratically run unions that help make decisions in corporations. Then the wars + bailouts might not have happened. The unions at Fox and CNN might have seen that propaganda was not warranted.
tstruss912 1 year ago

PhilosophyWatch 3 years ago
I think the point is that all politicians are idiots compared to the free market. No one has enough information to control resources in such complex ways.
As far as running the economy, we are all idiots...but the biggest idiots are the ones that think they can control the economy for good.

When? Where?
TigerKerouac 3 years ago
It is not a problem of qualifications or commitment. It is about a systemic dysfunction.
Clever and motivated people (as ideas) tend to turn cynical and opportunistic as they reach responsibility.
Everybody would accept to be run by an omniscient and super-genius, but instead we have average guys managing everything.
The question here is: if everyone manage stuff at his level, do we get better efficiency?
There are too many utopias, that's also a collateral problem.
SuperLazyLearner 3 years ago
The very fact that you portray yourself as an intelligent guy shows that you really aren't. Self proclaimed intelligent people are never what they portray to be and that works in parallel with politicians.
I don't want to be rude or anything, but thinking that politicians are working for your own very good, speaks very clearly that you're living an illusion. Then again, I'm not here to convince you otherwise.

I love that little smile at 11:33. When you say what the government is doing out loud like that, it really does sound so absurd. It's hard not to giggle.
ithinkronpaulissmart 3 years ago 3
You are very cynical. Perhaps 8 years of George W Bush has left you jaded. His term has frustrated many of us.
I think you oversimplify the whole process of government. I'm sure you know better. I'm curious why you are feeding the impression of government as a ship of fools. It's absurd reasoning.
Someone pointed me to you, saying you have useful things to say. All I see in this 1st video is someone pontificating for some self-serving reason. Come on! This is silly talk!
TigerKerouac 3 years ago
I'm not sure if you're joking or not. Sarcasm doesn't translate well on the web. Anyway, assuming you are not, you might consider viewing some of stefbot's 260-odd other videos. They may help with your confusion as to what he is talking about.
CitizenZ01 3 years ago
No I wasn't joking. I will listen to some of his other videos.
I hear too many people talking like he does. They are so cynical about government that they don't vote or take action, and when things go bad they shrug like Eor and say "yeah, I knew that would happen".
I don't think I'm confused. I heard alot of cynical, defeatist, and downright annoying statements made to sound reasoned. I think I 'get it'.
But I'll check further. Sorry if I insulted anyone.
TigerKerouac 3 years ago
Once you step out of the box that the main media has made you live in your whole life, then you would know why he says that.
Governments were initially made to serve man, not the other way around. Today it's a jungle of maniacs leading the impression that they are capable of fixing everything, when in fact acting in their own best interest and multiple other reasons behind the scenes. Any intelligent person knows that politicians are all liars, but people never learn, they trust these people.
btbking 3 years ago

You haven't made a single argument in your comment. Stef made a 12:44 long video making complex, reasoned arguments. Stef wins, you lose.
It may come as a surprise to you, but you actually have to make an argument. Calling one's argument "absurd", without taking the time to explain why, is not an argument.
Balden2 3 years ago 2
Balden2, what arguments are you looking for? I heard no arguments from Stefan. I heard sophomoric abuse, but no examination of ideas. He was just doing his impression of Rush Limbaugh, in my opinion.
Stefan slammed all politicians, bureaucrats, and financial experts as idiots. Thousands and thousands of professionals, all dismissed with a laugh and a sneer. I didn't hear anything to argue. Did you?
I expressed my OPINION.. I disagree. Please point out a single complex reasoned argument.
TigerKerouac 3 years ago
With all due respect, I suggest you watch more of his videos, you'll find plenty of reasons behind his views.
Keep in mind that I don't expect you to agree with him or me or anyone, that's one of the beautiful things about philosophy, exchanging ideas and looking for common intersections on thoughts, always with sufficient substance so that you can 'cling' onto your claims.
btbking 3 years ago 2
btbking I have watched a couple.
TigerKerouac 3 years ago
Stefan specifically criticized the proposition that a single candidate has ability enough to direct a massive economy. Further, he criticized the $700 bailout as a move that will only prolong the inevitable economic failure, caused by the Federal Reserve system of "monopoly money".
I wonder whether you actually watched the video? Because you dismissed the complex issues outlined above as "absurd", apparently without even understanding them.
Balden2 3 years ago
I watched it five times while responding to comments. And god help me I listened a 6th time just now.
Those are complex issues alright, but his treatment was far from complex. If you are a fan and agree with all the bias he mentioned you might see this as discourse. Personally, I feel dirty after hearing this again.
BTW he mentioned that NONE of those in govt know the 1st thing about philosophy. I looked it up... many have philosophy degrees including that other idiot, Rudy Guiliani.
