  • im not a BD fan but.. damn. dat quad line. no denying how clean that was.

  • How was this really good at june 20th? that's like super early in the season... :o

  • why do they need 12 guys playing the same thing? Can't they just amplify one guy... you don't have 15 jimmy page for solos, you just turn the amp to 11.

  • once again the blue devils tenors have the prettiest fucking floats ive ever seen in my life...

  • Oddly enough, that triplet roll split for tenors at 0:06 is one of the easier parts. I have the music and the part before the split is way harder

  • So right off the bat I noticed the headspin at 10 seconds on the guy closest to the camera.

But this is great shit lol

  • What kind of sticks are the quads using?

  • this is so clean that jesus had to come again just to wach them play and then leave

  • Alright, this slipped my mind. But what is the name of the dude all the way on the end of the tenor line on the outside?

  • @bdfollower The guy closest to the camera? I believe his name is Alex Blake

  • @TheDrummingAsian Okay, that's right. My mind blanked for some reason there.

  • To people complaining about the dirtiness of the snares:

    1) Have you ever thought that the audio quality of a YouTube video is not 100% accurate?

    2) Have you read the actual snare sheet music for this? Have fun trying to play it perfectly clean this early in the season.

    3) Few people could ever aspire to playing this kind of music so well in an ensemble setting so stop trying to call out "dirt" at every opportunity, no one is perfect.

Just some things to think about.

  • dude does anyoine know what carriers the snares tenors and the basses have i would really love to kno

  • tenors were crazy hot... snares werent lookin to great

  • @Patrixfunny, I'm going to make this perfectly clear. The BAND is using their mouths. DRUMLINE is pounding it.

  • tenors felt right. sounded right. the 1st time had a few sound problems but the 2nd second with gorgeous. the snares sounded terrible through both parts......this hurts to say from a BD fan

  • Oh the dirt

  • Comment removed

  • The black guy has a nice boody.

  • tenors are insanely clean and the snares are dirty as shit at 0:34 but mad props to all of them cuz i know i sure as hell cant play that.

  • @joshydrummer2012 Your face is dirty as shit.

  • Blue Devils - Bluecoats

  • 30-42... oh. my... GOD.

  • yea is it just me or has the blue devils snare line not been as clean as they should be the last couple years?

  • @patrixfunny Oh I get it, because their amazing at music that makes them band geeks, and everyone on here who comments is a band geek and a virgin. Shut up dude.

  • @Thatonekyle U MAD?

  • @patrixfunny Really cute, I'm sure YouTube appreciates your troll skills, now shut the fuck up.

  • @Thatonekyle LOL U SO MAD

  • 0:33 snares=dirty

  • @Grim214 Your mom=dirty

  • @secondshen what a fuckin dumb comment. if your gonna write back somethin stupid again, dont waste your time or mine.

  • @Grim214 Lol. Your mom= Really dirty now.

  • I didn't know Michael Cera played tenors.

  • @woothatdrums DUDE thats what I said!

  • wow.. thats so amazing... but i dont think anything can top like the 04-06 stuff.. that was such an amazing book

  • this must be fun to play

  • Thatgot really dirty at the beginning

  • Does anybody know a good brand for tenor heads? The ones at my schoole just busted and we need a new set, but we're trying a new brand. Any ideas?

  • @clikxas Evans MX

  • Sheesh... I get on YouTube and all of a sudden, everyone is a critic. What happened to the respect for upper echelon of drum corps? Seems like nothing is sacred anymore. If only YouTube required you to use your actual name as a screenname, there might be less careless posting.

  • You just can't watch this once.

  • 0:46 when the brass play the tenors are like "shut up" and play

  • those snare splits..mmmmmm yummy.

  • Ive never played the tenors but i have to learn how to play ,learn the music, learn how to march, remember the music, remember the steps because we make shapes and other stuff when we march. All this for a person whos never marched or played the tenors.:(

  • i love the way there tenors are tuned

  • I love watching BD, but then again it makes me feel of how much I suck.lol

  • @BlueishDevil SAMEEE HERE!! hahahah

  • How bout them Basses!?

  • alex blake barely hit the 4 drum zone in the intro tenor part...can barely tell

  • wow, just listen to tenors this vid, and the snares. it's such a "clean" difference, and YES I know it's easier to be dirty on snares.

  • Sounds like the two previous years Books to me. Of course, I could just be a dick.

  • i think the 5 ppl who dislike should go kill them selves.....

  • lol i am playing tenors in my highschool band and its alot of fun

  • I thought the first run sounded dirty in the snares (especially the split sixteenths), then I saw the date........sweet jesus.

  • not a single rim sound on the quads... thats precision AND THEY ARENT EVEN LOOKING

  • thats not even fair...

  • tenors are awesome, but man snares were bagging everything.

  • hahaha you can hear the hornline's pedals at the end......

  • does anyone else wince at how tense the tenors look....?

  • @suburbantimptoms93 dont u mean how clean they are...?

  • @TheGetAtMeDawg clean. very. they're very good. but why don't they make playing easier and loosen up?

  • @suburbantimptoms93 maybe they are loose, maybe its the technique their instructor teaches upon. watch rcc...some say they loosen up far too much. its all preference with sound and technique

  • @suburbantimptoms93 because its a visual sport too. the devs have mostly been about presentation for as long as i can remember. on a side note... was that a snare meltdown at the end of the first take? /shudder

  • yea soo is it just me or had bd's tenor line been crazy for the past few years...06,07,09 and 2010 should be great too it seems like over the past years their snareline has been lacking and the same in rcc beautiful tenors ehh snares

  • 0:52 to 0:55 = *drool*

  • hey what heads do they use for all the drums?

  • the tenors are piss-clean but at 35 the snares are s#!t-dirty.

  • @Chriscade09 yeah i had to rewatch it over and over again to make sure my ears weren't tricking me...but the tenors man...holy shit

  • holy crap, drum warriors

  • Tenors are great, minus those two crushed diddles on the second run through ;)

but snares, my god they really had a dirty snare line this year,

  • June 20, 2009 ;)

  • HOLY TENORS!!!!!!! that was amazing

  • id hate to have those drums cuz their just so plain... id also like to have them at the saime time cuz our hs. has like 6 year old pearls in the same color so those would be awesome

  • Their show was "1930," hence the vintage drums.

  • No one can deny that this is very close if not spotless in the quads.

  • did anyone notice the ghost notes in the tenor part... i just noticed it after looking at the sheet music

  • I'm not seeing any ghosts on the music I have in front of me. What part specifically?

  • well send me ur music then.... cause i have a transcribed version of the tenors, snares and basses, and in my music, the ghost notes were in the tenor solo

  • @pandora0426 I can't find exactly where I got the music. I believe it was off a snare science forum.

  • Those tenors were amazing!

  • anyone have the tenor music...i will trade

  • lol bodybuilder tenor player

  • anybody know who the tall white kid standing next to alex blake is?

  • So dirty... on the snares. Tenors were pretty good.

  • Keep on dreamin.

  • that's just the distortion of the sound.

  • agreed man. that was pretty nasty lol

  • those tenors sound so good!

  • ok so we all agree we look at the tenors and go "dah.............fuck"

  • @killingspree926 and look at snares and go, "dude.....ew"

  • @doga63 lol right

  • tenors are really clean for early season

  • i can watch this all day

  • DIRT ha.

  • 1st Show of the season

  • those straight dynasty tenors are freakin HAWT

  • what theee....... great i like it

  • :15 snare split?

  • triplet double stop roll split. haha.

  • yesh and its FWUKING AWESOME!!!! XD

  • yeah thats tight hu

  • NO! pearls dont make a 8 inch spock!

    Dynastys rock!!

  • Pearl Makes an 8" Shot now. They came out with it recently with the addition of a new line of carriers that all the corps are debuting at Finals. And Blue Devils recently changed to endorse Pearl Drums.

  • are those the pearl drums?

  • anybody have the quad music?

  • love this show love this line...not this vid *snarlllsss*

  • ALEXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

  • bass drums never get the credit though. they can do some sick stuff

  • I gotta say Tenor line>>Snare line.

  • *sprays Lysol on snareline* but I gotta give it up for the tenors, they were fuckin fire!

  • what the hell does that mean?

    Sorry, I'm a brass player

  • it just means the snares were dirty in this video (not very together) and lysol would clean them up... but it was very early in the season plus this was a very difficult book for 9 snares to clean

  • Early season, bad angle for audio, and it really doesn't matter until finals time how clean a line is.

  • everyone saying that there is dirt. i agree only because nothing is perfect but do you really have to say that. they set the bar for everyone in DCI and everyone knows it.

  • First show of the year.

    Pretty clean considering that.

  • only the accel was a little fuzzy,

but overall it was very good.

    congrats with the victory btw.

  • Alex Blake is beast.

  • do they tape their sticks?

  • sorry to say, dirt.

  • its a bad angle. a judge standing at this angle would not be able to make an accurate judgment on clarity

  • All of these lines sound the same these days.

  • They must be doing something right to win the World Championship haters.

  • snares were dirty

  • The tenors sound like shit

  • And you sound ridiculous saying that.

  • Tenors were nasty this year.

  • also, Allforone, I marched 08, and 09. I know what it's like to play in the lot. And it's not really that bad. You generally to the town the night before, and rehearse in the morning and afternoon, and then drive 1 hour (tops) to the show and start warming up. You also generally warm up for a good while before you run the book, which is what the guys are playing here. They aren't cold.

  • I didn't say they got lucky. I said they weren't good. lol. They just weren't as good as crown or cadets. My favorite corps is Vanguard, but I understand that they weren't as good as the others. BD just did NOT deserve a 19.8! Ever! Their pit was nowhere NEAR the Coats or Cavies, and their battery was not as good as crown or cadets. Politics, man. Politics.

  • I was gonna stay outa this until you said that about the pit... BD and Cavies pit were pretty much neck and neck dude. Those asians in BD's pit tore it up from day one and so did the dudes from the cavies. Neck and Neck man, I marched this summer so I saw them in person a lot.

  • the only thing not over rated about the bd drumline is the tenors

  • Jesus. How in the world did they win? Snares are fucking terrible from 0:30-0:40. Disgusting.

AND they dirt out the same roll the second time.

Granted this is early season. But I was at finals, and they weren't the best drumline. NO WAY did they earn a 19.8.

  • dude they played consistently through quarters semis and finals. so u cant say they got lucky at finals plus they went undefeated all year.

  • sick tenors

  • Eww promark.

  • oh takayuki ticked up the break @ 36 lol he played singles still sweet!

  • holy cow!!! those tenors were superb....BLUE DEVILS-BEST TO EVER DO IT

  • my schools drum instructor got in for snare on her first year, when she was seventeen, but couldnt scrape up the cashto join. Sucks doesnt it?

  • The Quads put the snareline to shame

  • oh yehh cool beanz

  • ouch....they showed obvious improvement from this to the finals.

  • those tenors are so bitchin!!!!!

  • this was posted on my birthday!

anyways, they supa cold, gotta love em'!

  • Holy Crap!!! There's only been one rejeffulous drum line ever and that's the 2009 Blue Devils!!!!

  • Tenors... Fml O_O

  • amen. this makes me wanna put down mine, and never pick them up again. lol.

  • ahhhh so clean!!!

  • 1st show. we scored a 15.1. of course it was dirty.

Finals. We scored a 19.8. Not dirty.

    The end.

  • At least some BD fans admit the dirt nowadays lol

  • the black tenor guy is KILLLIN!!! damn!! u crazy good

  • DAMN, I love that Tenor part

  • Probably just a twitch for some reason. Great angle!

  • what the hell happened to the black tenor player at 0:09

  • He's a beast so he does head movements like a beast.

  • i understand that drummers like getting into the music ... but that looked like tourrettes.

  • He just really into the music thats alex blake right there

  • hell yeaaaa

  • He malfunctioned.

  • hahahahahahahaha " he malfunctioned" those damn robots playin drums lol

  • whoa. snareline not doin to hot in this video.

  • agreed.

  • lol. isnt this the first show though?

  • oh haha. probably. i didnt look at the date, but either way it was dirty

  • first show....yeah ur right.

  • wrong drums?

  • alex... beast it out

  • Da best.
