  • Awesome, I like this stile of playing!!!!

  • no chance you have a tab for this is there? I've yet to find an adequate fingerstyle tab for this song

  • swag

  • Perhaps the best original version I've heard yet. Fantastic!

  • GREAT SLEEPWALK

  • holy crap! Should I just toss my guitar in the trash now or what? lol That was sick...I love the single note version, but your finger picked full chord version is crazy good! Loved every note and bend of the bar....the last one was soooo good!

  • Really nice, I tried to figure out the backing track but there isn't one... It's all you in one go! Very nice!

  • sir, that was really good. one of my favorite renditions here in youtube. can you please re-do it with better sound quality? more power!

  • @loeher182

    I second that.

  • Hey, I have a video of the inventor of sta-tuned devices. The devices keep a bigsby from making the guitar go out of tune. Check it out.

  • the 4 people that gave this video a thumbs down are just jealous. This is probably one of my favorite if not favorite versions of this song.

  • It's been awhile since I've heard sleepwalk that good.

  • That's just amazing man!!!!! What a feeling and what a sound! Absolutely one of the best sleepwalk on the tube! Keep a-rockin'

  • that was great playing

  • sounds really nice! a wonderful guitar melody!!!

  • I LOVE THE GRETSCH SOUND !!!!

  • holy shit that's amazing, hopefuly i can add a bigsby to my Epi dot studio.

do u use any special reverb pedal or is it the vox amp?

  • @felix51993

    Just Gretsch and Vox.

  • I'm gonna hate myself for saying this but...

.... do you have any tabs you could share?

  • LOL. I'm glad you asked instead of me. I would have hated myself, too. Check out the version by Rory123Guitar.

  • Thanks : D

Found them a while ago, anyway xD

  • Excellent! Bravo!

    Dimitris from Greece

  • Wow! Your playing blows my mind. I hope to get to where you are one day. You served that song well. Brilliant instrumentation. Amazing.

    Cheers!

  • Very very Nice... See my own version on Utube too.

  • blinding

  • That was a great performance!

  • Brill playing. You are a compliment to the Gretsch guitar.I'd love to know where to get one of those 'Chet' trem handles for my 6120.

  • this is the best one on youtube. i love it.

  • love that Merle Travis tremelo handle

  • Close Ed, it's a Chet Atkins handle, the Merle is huge, like a coat hanger.

  • very nice brother.

  • that was simply beautiful

  • your great!

  • HI 123sich ! Brilliant ! Regards .. Nathan M. natgroup45

  • wow I love it

any chance you got the music or tabs for this arrangement laying around somewhere?

  • This was awesome!!!!

  • That's nice! I like the D-minor-7 on the turnarounds. Also, you're getting in a chord from 'Vincent' , which is the original part of your arrangement.

It must be a minor 7th with a flat 9th that I am hearing.

  • Sweet God, that was beautiful.

  • Love this...you've got the tone and the touch.

  • Superbe !

  • That's really nicely done. Makes me long to have my Double Anniversary back.... Oh, that Gretsch had so much vibe.

  • Oh, Yeah! Great job, Great player and Great Gretsch Sound. Five! I send you my sleepwalk on a TN Rose. Bye.

  • Love your gretsch love your performance!

  • i like the way you rock your body.. lol.. buts seriously.. this sounds beautiful ol.. imma learn it :) if you dont mind..

  • I agree with the previous posts--this is the best version of "sleepwalk" on youtube. Nice job, and beautiful guitar!

  • FU*Kin Beauitful! this is by far the best arrangement I've heard! Bravo! and may I add this guitar is awesome

  • Wonderful solo arrangement. Great playing, great sound.

  • no, it is 6119SP, cherry, filtertrons, but apart from that very similar. Just the sweetest guitar.

  • is that a Power tenny ???

  • Wow. You may laugh at this, but I like this version so much better than Brian Setzer's versions that are all over Youtube. Great Job! In lieu of the other conversation, are you using a condenser mic or a dynamic? I have had good luck with a condenser mic sitting further out in front of the speaker, rather than a dynamic mic point blank...

  • yeah, actually, even though this was recorded IN my studio, I was only using a Fuji digital camera, the sound is rubbish mainly because I had the amp volume up to high. I'll get around to re-recording it soon. But thanks for your comment, I do appreciate it.

    George

  • you're sitting in a studio

re record this with better audio please.

this arrangement kicks ass but the audio quality could be sooo much better

  • You're right, This IS in my studio, the audio quality should have been better. Seriously, thanks for pointing out what should have been really obvious. I'll try again tonight...stay tuned....

    George

  • There are so many crap covers of this song on here. Glad to see someone "gets" this song. Nice job.

  • best arrangement imho :)

  • wow beautiful playing and scrumptous guitar

  • I haven't listened to this in a few months. I remember now why I saved it as a favorite. Lovely stuff!! Really stands apart from the other versions. Excellent.

  • superb! great skills and love for the song.

Most bad ass looking guitar i've ever seen.

  • Very great player

  • sounds like the theme for the farm on zelda ocarina of time!

  • Indeed.

  • i feel it... very true skill.

  • Hey that was realy good, so far the bast I have heard being played unacomanied.

You do realy like that tune a lot dont you>

    Nice one from Alvino

  • You have magical fingers George! fanbloody tastic! xxx

  • It's custom made, what guitar do you play?

  • did you have to get the string clamp custom made or is it a part i could order in?

  • how old's the gretsch? looks nice, how is it to play?

  • The Gretsch 6119SP is only about 3 years old, yes it does look nice, even nicer in the flesh, plays real nice and sounds just phenomenal.

  • any modifications?

  • Yeah...Roller bridge, Chet wire arm, and the main thing is a clamp I made that sits behind the nut, sort of like a Floyd nut but a bit more sophisticated so it doesn't need fine tuners (like the Floyd), oh and strap locks, and that's it.

  • sounds great. the arm jsut for looks? hwo dose the clamp work?

  • Wire arm is certainly not for looks, it's longer than the paddle so better leverage, has a round shape that's doesn't cut into my fingers and can swing around to exactly where I want it. The clamp just clamps the strings down so that tuning doesn't change when I use Bigsby or bend strings (which I do a lot). A lot of guys (like me) love the look and sound of the bigsby but using it ruins the tuning of the guitar, the clamp stops all that, sounds simple, but it took a while to get right.

  • うまい!!!!!!

  • Awesome playing mate, I wish i could finger pick like you. I play the setzer version with some little bits of finger pickig but oing as complex as that. 5/5 TOP WORK!

  • This really is an amazing arrangement for those of us who don't have a kareoke machine to play over. I would love to learn this version.

  • You Are so Sensual

  • haha, it's the guitar!

  • No comment,AWESOME!!!!!!!!But pls pls pls pls Write the tabulature :) plsplsplspls

  • Nice rendition. Thanks very much, 123sich.

  • This is great.

  • Absolutely outstanding arrangement of an old classic masterfully performed. Please add me to the list of interested guitarists anxiously awaiting the tab. I would love to be able to approximate your rendition of this favorite.

  • beautiful playing man 5/5

  • Great! Man, you really know how to use the Bigsby.

  • A tab...I've been searching for one for your super arrangement. If you ever take the time to tab this piece the guitar world will thank you

  • George, very nice indeed - probably the best arrangement on YT - regards, Damian

  • what model gretsch is yours?

  • 6119SP Tennessee Special, nice.

  • I ve got a Gretsch Corvete(G5135) and a amp Vox DA20

and your sound is really better!

  • Wonderfully played,

and yep :D Ide love to see your arrangment,

its not how I play it ( its better)

  • Hi, thanks for looking at my video, a couple of people have enquired about tabs for this arrangement, I am considering writing down the tab notation for this, but as you can imagine these things take some time to do, so if you are interested leave a message or comment, so I can see if there is any more interest. Thanks again,

    George

  • Hi and thankyou for what I consider the most 'original' rendition of this superb piece... i simply HAVE to know how you get that awesome sound... please tell, what effects, amp and guitar setting you used and are you using heavy strings?

I have an Anniversary, which I believe is the same as your Gretsch in all but colour and name... I simply can't get that wondeful thick sound. Love your version to bits pal!

  • Hi, thanks forthe kind words, yeah I think the aniversary is pretty much the same, the amp is a Vox AC30CC1 with the celestion, and the dials all set half way. My weak suit has always been tone, but the Vox is George proof, I can't dial up a bad sound. Talking of original versions, your one is right out of left field mate, wild!

    All the best,

    George

  • Hahaha thanks for thr info.... and the comment, keep in touch, I'm about to redo mine using thicker tone and mod delay.

  • A superb version, this is a tune that many guitarist can play BUT only with live backing as there are so many pauses within the lead. Your version really lets the tune flow. It's the one of the best best versions I've heard. PS Gretsch rules!

  • Magnificent, unique and individual style to a great classic. Long may you play.

  • Hey man amazing great sound!!!

  • wow. u are amazing. i want to learn how to play finger style a lot more after seeing this video because i am just totally speachless.

  • WOW!!!!. te pondría 6 estrellas , pero solo me deja poner 5!.

    saludos.

  • Gracias en gran medida, espero que Google se ha traducido correctamente.

  • Had to come back to give 5 stars and put this on my favorites!

  • I love that song, and you played it wonderfully!

  • Fantastic arrangement and equally great performance! For a song written for two guitars your version maintains the feel of the original even more than Brian Setzers', and that is not meant to be faint praise as I am a huge Setzer fan. Keep playing and posting I really appreciate it (and of course you and your artistry.) Cheers!

  • That was great. Nice rig too. Great playing.

  • THat was just Great ...great version wish I could play it like you..thanks

  • That, sir, is an extremely nice arrangement. Extremely.

Are you playing through an AC30?

If you are I'd be interested to know what settings you've got it on...

I can play Setzer's version on my 5120>RE-20>AC30CC, when I get the time I might put a recording up.

  • Thanks for the kind words, yes that's a AC30CC1 with the Wharfedale speaker, the actual settings are unknown, it's just whatever was dialled up at the time, it's hard to go wrong with the AC30, pretty much impossible to get a bad sound, I do know I had some reverb on it, a lot of the tone though is the 6119SP, this particular one is sweet beyond words, I got lucky. Look forwrd to seeing your vid.

    George

  • I'm posting it up now... it's a pretty rough take with a few errors here and there... meh :p

  • Actually, I've just looked in the back of the Vox amp I used, and it's the Celestion speaker not the Wharfdale, oops.

  • what kind of Vox amp is that? =) Could you recomend it? I'm out searching for a new amp, and I'm quite keen on a Vox.

  • Vox AC30CC1 withe celestion speaker, hope that helps.

  • cool gutiar. did the chet atkins arm for the bigsby come stock, or did you get it afremarket? if so, where?

  • Yeah it is a very cool guitar, came with the stock bigsby paddle, got chet arm from Blackrider guitars Ky on ebay. Made all the difference for me.

    George

  • how does that arm improve the feel or action of the bigsby? just cutious because i'm planing on getting one for my gibson sg.

  • Main dif is the chet can swing 360 degrees, so I can pos it where I want, and it is slightly longer, so slightly easier leverage. I have a tele and a Washburn J9 that I've given the same treatment, because the standard paddle has a stop that does not let me swing it up enough. Good luck with it.

  • oh ok, sounds usefull. i'll get one as soon as i get my bigsby. thanks.

  • I enjoyed that very much.

  • That was very beautifully played. I love good guitarmanship. =)

  • Reminds of the first back to the future... I just can't remember which part of the film it reminds me of.

  • sounds sooo nice :)

  • Nice arrangement bro....different than the way I play it but very smooth renditon! :)

  • Well played, man. That's a pretty guitar too, for Christmas? you MUST have been good.

  • Thanks for your comment on my video bro.....yeah I got it for christmas. It's quite the looker though of course not in the same league as your gretsch. It's an Ibanez artcore AG95 TRD canadian deluxe model.

  • haha, good one;)

  • CLASSY!!!! Wonderfully arranged, and nicely done in that different key! I'm starting to think that Sleepwalk is to archtop players what Little Wing is to strat players, THE song to express oneself with, uniquely. Very impressive. Sounds much better than my amateur attempt. New subscriber, new fan.

  • Nice job!! I like the arrangement and the sound. Keep up great work!!

  • Very nice job, beautiful sound and beautiful guitar; 5 ***** for you, of course

  • A.W.E.S.O.M.E!!!!

Wish I could play like that (okay, I don't own a Gretsch, so I won't be able to reproduce THE sound, but there's also much "in the fingers")

Done a verrrrrry good job on this one!

  • Nothing more beautiful than a Great Gretsch guitar through a Vox amp. Soooo Sweet.

Like the finger style on this and in the key of A. I usually hear it in C.

    Gretsch rocks in Hoosierland!

  • Awesome

  • very good!!!!

  • Hi Jorge,

thanks for the comment, you set the bar high for this piece. Love your work.

  • Very nicely done! Beautiful arrangement. Makes me wish I had a Gretsch/Bigsby. Do you have tabs? J/k...but you might get that question a lot.
