holy crap! Should I just toss my guitar in the trash now or what? lol That was sick...I love the single note version, but your finger picked full chord version is crazy good! Loved every note and bend of the bar....the last one was soooo good!
Your up there with Setzer, Both you guys in my Fav.I remember playing the rythym with a lead gutarist when I was 12years old,I'm 55 an old dog learning new tricks,on youtube, thanks for this rendition of sleepwalk, beautiful,Iam learning this ,I play by ear and flying riffs by the seat of my pant's.
Wow. You may laugh at this, but I like this version so much better than Brian Setzer's versions that are all over Youtube. Great Job! In lieu of the other conversation, are you using a condenser mic or a dynamic? I have had good luck with a condenser mic sitting further out in front of the speaker, rather than a dynamic mic point blank...
yeah, actually, even though this was recorded IN my studio, I was only using a Fuji digital camera, the sound is rubbish mainly because I had the amp volume up to high. I'll get around to re-recording it soon. But thanks for your comment, I do appreciate it.
You're right, This IS in my studio, the audio quality should have been better. Seriously, thanks for pointing out what should have been really obvious. I'll try again tonight...stay tuned....
I haven't listened to this in a few months. I remember now why I saved it as a favorite. Lovely stuff!! Really stands apart from the other versions. Excellent.
Yeah...Roller bridge, Chet wire arm, and the main thing is a clamp I made that sits behind the nut, sort of like a Floyd nut but a bit more sophisticated so it doesn't need fine tuners (like the Floyd), oh and strap locks, and that's it.
Wire arm is certainly not for looks, it's longer than the paddle so better leverage, has a round shape that's doesn't cut into my fingers and can swing around to exactly where I want it. The clamp just clamps the strings down so that tuning doesn't change when I use Bigsby or bend strings (which I do a lot). A lot of guys (like me) love the look and sound of the bigsby but using it ruins the tuning of the guitar, the clamp stops all that, sounds simple, but it took a while to get right.
Awesome playing mate, I wish i could finger pick like you. I play the setzer version with some little bits of finger pickig but oing as complex as that. 5/5 TOP WORK!
Absolutely outstanding arrangement of an old classic masterfully performed. Please add me to the list of interested guitarists anxiously awaiting the tab. I would love to be able to approximate your rendition of this favorite.
Hi, thanks for looking at my video, a couple of people have enquired about tabs for this arrangement, I am considering writing down the tab notation for this, but as you can imagine these things take some time to do, so if you are interested leave a message or comment, so I can see if there is any more interest. Thanks again,
Hi and thankyou for what I consider the most 'original' rendition of this superb piece... i simply HAVE to know how you get that awesome sound... please tell, what effects, amp and guitar setting you used and are you using heavy strings?
I have an Anniversary, which I believe is the same as your Gretsch in all but colour and name... I simply can't get that wondeful thick sound. Love your version to bits pal!
Hi, thanks forthe kind words, yeah I think the aniversary is pretty much the same, the amp is a Vox AC30CC1 with the celestion, and the dials all set half way. My weak suit has always been tone, but the Vox is George proof, I can't dial up a bad sound. Talking of original versions, your one is right out of left field mate, wild!
A superb version, this is a tune that many guitarist can play BUT only with live backing as there are so many pauses within the lead. Your version really lets the tune flow. It's the one of the best best versions I've heard. PS Gretsch rules!
Fantastic arrangement and equally great performance! For a song written for two guitars your version maintains the feel of the original even more than Brian Setzers', and that is not meant to be faint praise as I am a huge Setzer fan. Keep playing and posting I really appreciate it (and of course you and your artistry.) Cheers!
Thanks for the kind words, yes that's a AC30CC1 with the Wharfedale speaker, the actual settings are unknown, it's just whatever was dialled up at the time, it's hard to go wrong with the AC30, pretty much impossible to get a bad sound, I do know I had some reverb on it, a lot of the tone though is the 6119SP, this particular one is sweet beyond words, I got lucky. Look forwrd to seeing your vid.
Main dif is the chet can swing 360 degrees, so I can pos it where I want, and it is slightly longer, so slightly easier leverage. I have a tele and a Washburn J9 that I've given the same treatment, because the standard paddle has a stop that does not let me swing it up enough. Good luck with it.
Thanks for your comment on my video bro.....yeah I got it for christmas. It's quite the looker though of course not in the same league as your gretsch. It's an Ibanez artcore AG95 TRD canadian deluxe model.
CLASSY!!!! Wonderfully arranged, and nicely done in that different key! I'm starting to think that Sleepwalk is to archtop players what Little Wing is to strat players, THE song to express oneself with, uniquely. Very impressive. Sounds much better than my amateur attempt. New subscriber, new fan.
