Got the CD finally today after deciding the tape would only last so long-but this version was NOT the version on the tape, and this is far inferior-unimpressive indeed. I've had this crap with the following year's Shakespears Sister album 'Hormonally Yours' where the first two songs were reworked to their detriment. I really hope it's not like this on all the CDs. Please someone upload the one from the tape (is it on any other CD copies of the album?). I'd better not chuck the tape away then!

@Baconq It was not this one at all, I think it must be the 'dance remix' as described by someone else below-i.e the actual chart hit. No wonder it wasn't released like the one here! Having said that, the tape I had must have been the 1991 version after the 1990 tape with this version disappeared. I'm gonna have to get the 1991 one!

I like the way Cathy re-wrote the verses and actually made this a memorable song! I started working on a remix of it last night when I pulled the song up to sample the chimes in the very first seconds of the song for a Rihanna remix, and got sidetracked. I had a beat that fit this song perfect, and now I'm working on sweetening everything a little bit.

This is the original version from the album. You can really appreciate her voice and style on this one. The remix dance version is garbage. I can't find this version for nothing.

@DjDedan I would call this more of a "re-imagining", as they have been saying in Hollyweird for the last few years. This version only kept a few of the original keyboard parts and the chorus, but Cathy re-wrote the verses and added the bridge part.

Her hits helped with the transition in the U.S. from late 80's rock/pop to early 90's techno/NRG. Dance music was in puberty in the early 90's and Cathy's beautiful songs upheld the optimistic/existential lyrics of the classic 80's orchestrated with beats inches away from what later be known as techo/pop/rave. Chris Cox (of the extinct "Thunderpuss") did a beautiful and powerful reworking of the Club Mix on "Hot Tracks" in 1991.

Many have often been bewildered about this version of the song not on the 'original album'. The album comes on two versions, one has the more familiar dance version heard on the radio. The other has this version. I love both versions of the song but this version has a 'jollier' and funkier production that I sometimes enjoy even more than the dance version at times. I love the odd ambient melody effect from 0:58 to 1:06, at 2:03 to 2:11 and 3:00 to 3:08. Thanks for sharing this version! :)

@musej2s THAT is the ORIGINAL version that appears on the early releases of Dennis' album before they replaced it with the Shep Pettibone remix edit.

Shep Pettibone's remix is said to have made this song a hit in the same way Todd Terry's remix of "Missing" by Everything But The Girl made that song blow up. I was hoping to find this version on here as well but I think I still have the original album with this version. I wish they would leave the original versions on the album.

Yes it is the Album Version, i remember buying the album on cassette here in Canada when i was 12yrs...and was really disapointed that it was not the 7''mix they were playing on radio at the time...although as i am older have come to appreciate the song in its original form.
